    Unless you're fishing behind them!!!

there's always a few exceptions to the rule garry.. though if you put her in my boat she wouldnt be pulling out nice fish like that.. ;)

  2. OK so as fisherman we all carry a little hidden secret to our arsenal of tackle ...is it a certain lure, shirt, undergarment, technique ...what exactly makes the "fish Gods" shine on your bait to out fish your buddies...????

Use your own discretion on what ya want to donate to this thread...

For me i have so many that i couldn't possibly list them all.... but will say ...when i fish with worms ..i spray WD 40 on them ...it makes them sweet and i seem to turn more fish then most...also my socks NEVER match each other...

Have atter , have fun and shine the light for the new people that want to know how to be as good as you ....

i never have luck when i fish with ginger kids..

i dont know what it is, but if there's a red head in my boat, no one on it is getting anything..

  3. Right on , they Are ADORABLE as puppies..........until i saw the price tag, what is up with that $$$$

artificial insemination, 99% of the births are caesarian, relatively small litters... for the most part, you're hopefully paying for a responsible breeder...

typically the high price tag is just the start too.. i'm sure Chrispy can attest to some of the health probs they're prone to.. even though he's not good with the heat, snores louder than Ted & The Gadget, and is more subborn than my mother in law, i'll never own another breed..

  4. How well do those dog life vests work?? Do they keep the dogs head above water?

My dog is only 11lbs. Do they come that small?

My dog knows no limits. Sometimes she'l jump in the water and swim away from shore, and not look back untill she's 100' out. Then she panics, and tries to rush back in. Only to turn around and do the exact same thing again.

they work really good.. magnus is 63lbs and it keeps him afloat.. not sure how small they come though..

  5. When on ofncommunity.com the back button in my browser's menu bar never works on the first click. I allways have to click twice (not necessarily double click). I've never had this issue anywhere else but on this site. Does anyone else have this problem?

i normally use the dropdown at the bottom of the page to go back.. if you click the down arrow (in ie) beside the fwd arrow, you can see that an extra page actually in the history.. googleadd.g.doubleclick.net/cpa

  6. Lat year the Senko's were killin' it for me, this year.. not so much. I think the waters still too cold.

same deal here.. opener i couldnt keep rock bass off the senko's.. this past sat. on the bog i didnt even get a sniff using senko's all morning.. switched up to a lizard for the last hr or so and had a bunch of them show themselves, didnt manage any in the boat but at least we say them...

  7. so i was giving my motor the once over before my weeked trip to kipawa, and checking the plugs, both of which were fine.. so i put them back in, top plug goes in just peachy.. bottom plug goes in and as i'm torquing it instead of the wrench clicking, the plug snapped.. i was expecting to see the porcelain cracked.. instead the porcelain dropped off, still attached to the bolt part (sorry not up to date with my plug anatomy).. i can take a couple pics when i get to work tomorrow..

so left in the head of the engine was just the outside of the lower part of the plug.. no threads above the head to grab or anything.. after my initial panic attack i sat down with a long set of hemostats and turned it back out.. it wasnt stuck or anything came right out without any real force..

my question, how can i tell if the threads are frigged up in the head?

    thanks guys

  8. Hello,

I am going to a friend house that is on the north channel of Lake Huron, near Thessalon, East of Sult ste Marie. The house is right on the big lake. Has anyone fishing this general area? This is big water, but appears to have lots of islands and bay roun that area, with the big islands out in the lake. I assume I can fish the shores of the big lake, and catch some pike or bass? I was hoping the shorline of the big lake was kinda like a small canadian lake for pike?

There is also a small like called Cranberry lake in this area that I will have access to. Probably nobody heard of it, but if so, does it have pike? It is very close to Basswood lake, and all of this is near the a Thessalon Indian Reserve.

Well let me know if you can help. This is the first time I am going to canada not for the sole purpose of fishing, but I do want to fish and the big lake area has me stumped.

    Joe K.

joe, i fished big basswood a couple summers ago for a week.. did well with the smallies, most taken on mepps black fury's

  9. Stern is the ONLY reason I got Sirius. I have never had problems with a signal except when I go under a long overpass or thru a tunnel. If you haven't heard the Miserable Men on Sunday nights, you gotta hear them. Next best thing to Howard.

same here.. got it for stern, but kept it for bubba the love sponge.. even put a bubba army bumper sticker on the boat this spring :)

my money would also be on a bad antenna.

  10. lunker, i use the portable battery that lebarons sells for ice fishing.. just clip it onto the quick connects that i've got wired for my nav lights and generously proportioned.. that thing will run my fish finder for at least 3 days, havent tried it much longer than that, and it doesnt add any more weight to the boat..

  11. I'm only an occasional viewer but it seems to me they should take a page from some of the other sport-specific channels and do more in studio shows instead of on the water programming. I'd be all over a show with one of our home grown pro's doing demos or comparing gear, showing how to properly load mono on a spinning reel, tying the best knots, casting techniques, retrieval and presentation techniques, and so on. Shows about specific species and methods fishing - walleye, bass, panfish, pike, muskie, carp, deepwater lake fish, spring & fall trout and salmon, off-shore, fly, trolling, jigging, casting, whatever. I have no idea what the viewer demographic is. That may be the problem. The demographic is so varied that they have to be all over the map (literally) to offer something for everyone and subsequently they lose the interest of the specific markets like Ontario.

It's a great idea with a load of difficulty attached.

john, that's a brilliant idea, i'd definately watch it..

  12. Thats why we have a union. What is crazy is that a plumber with 4 years work in, gets 60 an hour, when you can get them to show up! A nurse that has a 4 year degree , and works 12 hr shifts, most holidays and 50% of weekends gets 28 .

if the nurse wanted $60/hr he/she should've been a plumber...

  13. White spinnerbiats!!!!! Silver hammered colorado blades!

Just drift the caggabe out in the middle of the lake and burn the spinners. You'll get TONs of pike, and some bass too. You might even get lucky and get a walleye or musky while your at it. That's pretty much all I use on that lake, and I fish it a fair bit in the summer. I might even be there when you are!

sinker hit the nail on the head.. with white spinner baits..

mepps black furry (with the yellow dots) never let me down up there either..

any crank baits in perch patterns... xraps, big original floating raps.. caught some bigger pike on 8" believers too..

  14. I was there the other day and they had the Maina reels in a combo...there were 5 or so there. I think the combo was $150.

My buddy mentioned that he bought one and it was junk - I don't have a recommendation of another reel of comparable price, but if I were in the market I would be considering other options even if BPS had the reel in stock.

really? i picked up a low profile one last year, and its easily my favourite baitcaster... never had a problem with it..

  15. Go get 'em Cliff! I don't think that there is much you can do about Xplornet, but the satisfaction of saying goodbye and getting what you pay for. How's the VOIP phone working out?

sorry to hear your troubles Cliff.. i think John's right, i'd personally just cut my losses and say good bye...
