There's Il Fornello on yonge, good food, prices are pretty good too!

I might be swayed to come if spiel promises to bring some of those rare tying materials he was bragging about, LOL.

It's a maybe for me, I'll let you guys know soon though.

All is Lost is worth seeing if you haven't yet. liked it better than Dallas Buyers CLub and American Hustle. Haven't seen the other one.
Wolf of Wall Street and Prisoners are 2 more I'd recommend.
Haven't seen any of your choices yet but All is Lost was a great film.

Has got to be feet, but we should be able to choose which we want if it's that easy for them to do.

Maybe it,s the same lady that throws rocks at anglers. I heard she has called the OPP many times. She was charged and they ignore her calls now. Im looking forward to a float down the river this year. Just need to get a few guys together so we can have a drop off and pick up.
I'll bring the canoe

Even if there were streambead rights granted, could you not still float over the bed legally?

1' tubes are my personal favourites. I have used 11/2" curly tails and marabou jigs successfully also. Live bait is just to cold on the hands some days so I gave up on that. One thing I have noticed is that there are days were they definitely will have a colour preference. One day it's pink next it might be blue head and yellow body. I bring a variety of colours. Once I figure it out it's a blast.
A small slip bobber on 4lb test is ideal. Sometimes a slow lift and drop will help turn them on as the water warms up. With some wind and choppy water the bobber will bounce enough for the jig to look alive.Warmer water will usually be on the north side and around logs, dock piling and just anything else that will absorb sunlight and get the water a little warmer than the surround area. That's why darker bottoms work so well.

Wow, those are some big tubes you're throwing!

November was an exciting month, when you're forced off the rivers because your waders are freezing solid and you can't take it anymore you know it's going to be a good winter, and it started off that way. However, by the end of December it was starting to get old, freezing rain, horrible driving conditions and already having to drill through a foot of ice, it wasn't shaping up to be as great a winter as we'd hoped.
Now we're still ice fishing and running vehicles on the ice in late March, I was just about ready to buy a one way plane ticket to Mexico, but then it finally happened, temperatures climbed above zero and the ice is now on it's way out. Open water means only one thing in March, STEELHEAD! So this morning at 6am I loaded the car and headed east.
Today I was fishing a new to me trib, there was a supposedly a lot of open water on it and the water levels looked good as well. I fished a few pools down, in the process foul hooking one fish before it got off and seeing several others, this was getting me very excited for the day. At the next pool I spotted a small ice flow along the shore and found this fish resting under it, she actually let me touch her tail and didn't move, which was strange because it didn't appear to be spawned out and looked fairly silver.
This pool was perfect in every way, it had 2 currents meeting, it was long, deep and had a good number of large boulders in it, but I could not see or hook one fish in it, so I packed up and started following the trail downstream. Before I had passed the tailout of the pool I noticed that just before the pool turned to a small rapids it got very deep and had a large boulder right at the end which was just begging a fish to rest in front of it. I figured it was worth a shot and proceeded to make about 10 drifts to this area before hooking this brute, my first open water fish of 2014.
Downstream a ways I did get a savage hit from another fish but missed the hookset, next time! Here are a few random photos.
This guy was a VERY welcome sight.
And a couple rod shots.
I hope to add to this report this weekend or next week

Best weather forcast available!
Instructions for Newfie weather rock
put Newfie weather rock outside
If the rock is wet, it's raining.
If the rock is swinging, the wind is blowing.
If the rock casts a shadow, the sun is shining.
If the rock does not cast a shadow and is not wet, the sky is cloudy.
If the rock is not visible, it is foggy.
If the rock is white, it is snowing.
If the rock is coated with ice, there is a frost.
If the ice is thick, it's a heavy frost.
If the rock is bouncing, there is an earthquake.
If the rock is under water, there is a flood.
If the rock is warm, it is sunny.
If the rock is missing, there was a tornado.
If the rock is wet and swinging violently, there is a hurricane.
Always 100% right!
S.
How do you tell the difference between a tornado and fog though? LOL

I agree with Dundas, a used pair of simms will last you many years. I've been using mine almost 3 years, and am a lot rougher on them than I should be. I did once have a seam issue but Simms fixed it for me no charge

Hey, if we have to go through the ice at least it will level the playing field!
-
Thanks for the reply.
Sorry meant to ask,ice thickness? Can I park on the ice?
Hey Brian, I was up there last weekend and the one before, we were on about 25" of ice (complete guess there), most of it was good but there was about 5" of white stuff on top. I did see a pickup out but that ice is deteriorating fast, check before you go out.

For a canoe I'd go short if it's just you, a longer boat is harder to steer. But to be perfectly honest if you're not doing long portages, go for a yak. I have a couple friends who have these and love them. http://www.nativewatercraft.com/

Pompano are cool fish, how do they fight?

Great looking fly, but not what I'd call huge

A local pond I fish for perch will regularly give up 100 fish in a morning, went this winter and didn't get a thing, think it could be gone for good, the whole thing is only 10 feet deep. Going to be an interesting spring that's for sure.
