So you bought that one from the man himself?
-
Or is that just reaaalllyy nice marabou?
-
Thought it was, but don't remember that fly having craft fur in it.
-
Looks like a awesome time guys congrats
It was, and now you only have to remember the sign for musky LOL.

Well for some reason all day my rod was cold, so I was handed a rod more than a couple of times by Pete (thanks!). Here's my first of the day, I think it was 24" if memory serves.
It took a while before I got another but around noon I upgraded to a 26" fish during a double header (the one time my rod goes off I was already using Pete's LOL)
We checked out the area below the dam as well, no cats were caught but as I was reeling my cut bait into position I got a hit (thought it was weeds at first) from what turned out to be my first ever sheepshead.
Love the colours this one had on it's head.
I finished with this brute which was just a half inch smaller than Brian's fish.
Thanks for a great day guys, can't wait to do it again!

Sweet fish! What pattern is that?
-
Nice report Brian! I'll try to get some pics of the other fish later.
-
Nice fish there. When you were up in kendal did you find "it"? If you don't know what I'm talking about then you didn't LOL.
-
Where's that? We'll be focusing on yellowstone but I'd love to hook into some grayling while there!
-
Will be heading down to wyoming/montana for a week of back country trout fishing in august, going to plan for week in algonquin sometime in september and will inevitably make a few trips to Gbay, bancroft, states in the fall, usual stuff.
-
I'm with Gallie on this, I'm fairly sure I'll go out doing something outdoors, and that doesn't bother me one bit, because I'll be doing what I love.
-
Atlantic!
Nice shots.

Where are cisco listed has permitted baitfish? I don't remember them be listed?
Look in the regulations at the baitfish page, they're in there, listed as lake herring.
-
Yes, but you aren't able to keep them out there at all right now, I'm sure if this change goes through we'll be able to use them for bait on Simcoe.
-
you can't use them as bait on simcoe and you can't use them as live bait anywhere else
They are listed under permitted baitfish, so it seems that you can, just not from Simcoe. Is there an exception?

I guess it could be worse http://nationalreport.net/kansas-black-cosmos-show-controversies/

I didn't want to be the first to rain on your parade Misfish, but I was thinking the same thing. Is it marked as a creek on a top sheet? or are you familiar with it say on Aug 1st. flow levels.
Na that's definitely a creek, there's a defined river bottom down there. Great find there Brian! Now I suppose you need some royal wulffs and humpies right? LOL

you cant possess sturgeon eggs at all???? what about the ones I can buy at the St. Lawrence Market??
Those are farmed with a license, you can't catch and sell sturgeon or any protected species in Ontario.
-
Great fish you got there! Mind if I ask what rod you're using in the second pic?
-
Today's image.
Can't figure out what that big body is south of simcoe, did the holland flood?
-
Saw that this morning, sad news indeed. RIP John.

if you can't find them locally, I used to buy the same hooks at wholesale sports, don't order online but I imagine it's comparable to any other shipping
but I got to say, I stopped using them because they'd pull open on me on big fish using 8lb braid, depending how small you need the gammy 90 degree jig hooks are better imo
I was given a fly to copy from a customer, these hooks are a near perfect match size wise, there are some angling specs brand hooks that match too but again, he doesn't have 4's right now.
-
Chris take a look here.
Ya I checked them but they don't ship to Canada.
Looks like John has them - he's in London so shipping should be quick
Just emailed him, thanks.
Here's the folks that I use.
Hmmm, they don't seem to have them.
-
I need some Mustad 32760's in a size 4, usually I would turn to angling specialties for these but they are awaiting their next shipment. Luremaking.com doesn't have them, sail, BPS, and wilson's don't either. I'd prefer the supplier to be in Canada so I don't have to deal with customs, but if the company has a good reputation for shipping times I'd be open to guys in the states as well.
Thanks for any help,
Chris

Ok then it was just marabou, strange, looks full of craft fur in the pic. The prices are high but you have to consider what goes into these flies, it's around $0.10 for the eyes, a good $1 for the hooks, probably about $2 worth of materials too and those are wholesale prices. That would mean $2.90 per fly, if he can do one in 15 minutes that's $11 an hour, and he only makes that if they tie them themselves, if they buy from a local tyer they have to split that. Trust me $6 isn't too bad.
