Heading up to lake Dalrymple next week with my wife's uncle. Never fished there before, although he has been a few times. Any suggestions? I am determined to outfish him. Thanks.

I know, I know. I work full-time and my wife and I have a home based business that occupies every second that our 22 month old son and 7 week old son doesn't. Promised her we would just hang around the cottage. May throw a line in from shore, but no real fishing. I booked myself a trip to Rice lake for Bass opener for 3 days...no wife, no kids.....ahhhhhhhhhhhh.

Hi there, looking to book 2 nights cottage rental at Ahmic Lake Resort for the wife and I to relax. Won't be fishing, just hanging out. Does anyone have any info? Been there and liked/disliked it? Thanks.

Awesome! Great pic! Thanks for the feedback. You've helped me feel more confident about my decision. With a 2 year old and a 7 week old, outings this summer are going to be few and far between. Want to make the most of every chance I get.

Hi there, just booked a campsite on the Otonabee river for the first week of July. Will be going for Bass. Since this will most likely be my only time away from the wife and kids to relax and fish this summer, I want to make it worth my while. Can anyone tell me how the fishing is? I want to go somewhere where it is hot. I only have a 12 ft. aluminum, so that is why I chose the river, rather than the main lake...safety. The campground is located 7 miles up river from Rice lake. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Yes, sorry, that's the one.

To put 2 deep cycle in series (i.e. not to make it 24v, but to make battery life longer), what is the set-up? Thanks.

Hi there, anyone here fished Conestogo lake in Cambridge? Was it worthwhile? Any tips? Thanks.

Thanks for the info. I appreciate it. I'll let you know how I do.

Thanks. I also need to play around with the mixture because it stalls if I don't keep the throttle open a little (i.e. it dies if I let go of the handle).

I am generally a bass fisherman, however the lake I fish has a good population of pike. I am going to get out this weekend. Where are pike generally found this time of year? I was planning on using some spinnerbaits and jerk baits....any other suggestions? Thanks.

Hello, I have a 1966 Viking 6hp motor that I have some questions about. The motor was given to me by my wife's uncle several years ago, and I finally pulled it out to try and get it running. 2 new spark plugs and it fired right up. The question I have, is that it seems to smoke a lot, and I am not sure what is normal for a motor of that age. I started it with water in a garbage can, and it spit water out fine. I double checked that I had the correct fuel mixture and it was correct at 50:1. The smoke was coming from the garbage pail. At idle it was minimal, but when I gave it more gas, the smoke increased quite a bit. I did change the lower unit oil before running it. Is this normal for a motor of that age? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I am thinking about getting a co-pilot for my powerdrive based on some of your recommendations, but I have one question. On the foot pedal, there is the option for momentary or constant prop. Is this option still available when using the co-pilot or do you have to constantly hold down the prop button to make it work? Thanks.

Congrats! Kids are a lot of fun. Jack is a fine name (my sons name is Jack) and we are expecting our second boy any day now. Enjoy every minute.

Thanks for the sarcasm, it added a lot to the post. Hopefully you don't own a business. I own a small business and understand the importance of the "small sales". May not be much in my pocket, but the referal or "future" business down the road is worth while. As far as the plate goes, I was commenting on how the first dealer goes the extra mile to register the trailer at the dealership (not the DMV) whereas the other guy doesn't. Sheesh

Thanks for the feedback. Very true about there not being much room to haggle. I narrowed it down to 2 dealers, who had the best starting price. Neither would budge on the deal, however I chose 1 over the other for the following reasons. 1. Out of the 2 dealers I was talking with, this one made me feel like they wanted my business. The other dealer made me feel like I was wasting their time. To me, a sale is a sale, no matter how big or small. 2. This dealer threw in a mounting bracket for the spare tire I wanted. The other didn't. 3. This dealer completes the paperwork for the new plate and gives me the plate on the spot. The other dealer was going to send me out to the DMV to do it myself. Although I have to drive an extra 30 minutes each way over the other dealer, as mentioned, the importance of good service (and follow-up service) is important. Thanks again, I feel good about my decision.

THanks for all of the feedback. THe lake I fish is electric only, so I never even have the main motor on the back of the boat. Never thought that it would make it track better. I think I am going to look into the co-pilot.

Hi, I have a small 12 ft. aluminum and am looking for some small (i.e. relatively safe) bodies of water to fish on....mainly for bass, but walleye would be good too. Rivers and small lakes preferably. I live in the Hamilton area. Right now, all I can think of is the Grand River, Guelph Lake and the small river that runs off of Scugog into Lindsay. I would appreciate any bodies of water you can name that are within approximately 3 hours of Hamilton/Toronto. Thanks in advance for your help.

Need some advice from some of the seasoned members. I need to buy a boat trailer. Nothing big, just a shorelandr that will accomodate my 12 ft. aluminum. I called a couple of places and got varying quotes, but 2 of them quoted me $795.00. I also want to get a spare tire and some bearing buddies. I have never negotiated anything with a dealer and am hoping you can offer some advice? Thanks.

Thanks for the feedback! Good to know that it is not just me. I will also look into the co-pilot.

I have a 55lb Minn Kota Power Drive bow mount and I find that I have a hard time controlling it. I see these guys on T.V. effortlessly controlling their boat and when I use mine, I zig zag all over the place. I often get so frustrated that I pick up the pedal and use my hands to control it. Is it just practice, or does anyone have any tips.

You guys are awesome! Thanks for the help.

Thanks for the advice. Any idea where I would get those parts?
