I'll second that, when we first moved to goderich the neighbors behind us had two mastiffs that would bark, growl and carry on non stop, it got to be quit an annoyance not being able to use our yard in peace. bought a couple of super soakers and problem solved, the interesting part is after being sprayed a few times and no squirt guns needed until we sold the house two yeas later.

Most of the time at 50 down we run out 20ft, as far as flashers go run the flasher off of your flouro lead, and then a lead from the flasher to fly or spoon that is about 2x the flasher length, Also imo you can save yourself alot of headache by just running 15# to 20# power pro with no flouro lead, we have experimented with the flour leads, mono leads and no leads over the last three yrs rigging and have found no difference in catch rates from one to the other, unless you are running real shallow. hope this helps

Use Backing Line before Spooling Lead Core????
natemr2 replied to TroutnMuskieHunter's topic in General Discussion
I use 15# ande as my backing, then lead and a 30ft flouro leader, micro swivels to attach it all together. -
The car goes about 120km round trip to work, unfortunatly all the kids and dog don't fit in it, so the durango is driven more often, The durango gets about 10mpg in town and around 20-23 mpg on the hwy, the funny thing is even when towing the boat I still get about the same milage in the durango.

Fill up car, set trip meter to 0, run car until low fuel light comes on, read trip meter, fill up car again.

Nice healthy looking fish, were you running the core off boards?

Just started using them last year, bass pro has a good kit to get started with, I found I mostly ended up using a one pound weight with a 30ft lead, run with a spin doc or a dodger in the mud can produce some decent lakers on an otherwise slow day.

Excellent, mine goes in tommorrow

Stone fly hatch was very late here this year, I only began to see numbers of them this week, last week fish were sipping something off the surface in good number, I assume it was stone flys, from my fishing log everything seems a bit later this year.

I have been looking for years, maybe this year, on the topic of snakes two years ago on the maitland we had an explosion of the population of queen snakes, from what I have read they are quite rare in this river. hope the pics worked

I think they will take just about anything, but the big boys seem to have a liking for orange, we have caught them on salmon gear out in 100 ft of water and then at the river mouth in the same day, for shore fishing I have unfortuatly got quite a few while fishing for wallys with minnows.

The sharks do work great but be careful on which you buy, there was a bad batch of them that had an air bubble in the casting, which resulted in them not tracking straight, when running dipsies whith the bad ones you were gauranteed a big mess. They have since taken care of the problem but there are alot of bad ones still out there, have a look at the ridge back rattlers we have had good results with these as well. As far as weight goes 10's seem to be what most guys run, but it all depends on the guage of fiberglass your boat is, make sure you use some sort of backing plate if you are deck mounting them. Nate

i am a local, and yes you can get there but not this time of year, that shore ice along the banks is not worth the risk for any fish, it will get sorted out in time.

Don't post here much being, there is not usually much on my area, When the trailer park was built there was an agreement that there would be a 10 ft allowance along the steel wall, and there has never been a problem with access in the past, The fellow that is active superintenant of the park now has seemed to take an intrest in keeping people out of the no fishing zone, if you are fishing in the designated area there is usually not a problem, were you fishing past the sign that says "no fishing beyond this point", if so you don't have a leg to stand on, and also keep in mind to get to the steel wall you are walking through private property, and also keep in mind they have had major problems with erosion in this area, both in the marina and at the end of the steel wall and fishermen up and down the banks don't help this, so to sum it if you are not fishing past the sign you shouldn't have a problem, but step beyond it and this guy is like a vulture on road kill and has every right to kick you out, I fished there all winter without a problem staying in the designated area, or take a bit of a walk and fish the other side if you don't want any controversy.
