  1. nice. a lot of valuable information here thanks.

I forgot to mention you are going to be adding alot of weight to your boat at the front, so you may want to get a rough idea of the weight your adding before you build everything and load that weight into your boat to make sure it still drives properly. You can use the battery to counter act some of the plywood weigt by moving the battery further back. If you have a 25hp or larger you should be just fine. Even a 20 should be ok pushing it all out of the water.

don't forget, Ideally the minimal ammount of trim used to keep the boat up on plane the faster and more efficient your boat will run.

The less weight in the front the better you are for speed and fuel efficiency.

However if you have too much weight in the back your motor may not have enough power to push the boat up onto plane. Most bass boats run on the ragged edge of not being able to get on plane. This is by design though to get the most top end speed possible.

  2. Go for a bow mount. You will also want to add a seat post to lean on. Once you have done that your golden. for a 14 footer anythign in the 40-55pound 12 volt range will do just fine unless your in heavy wind or really strong current. make sure you buy a NEW deep cycle. Get a proper marine deep cycle, car quest, crappy tire, bass pro all sell these. You will also want a charger. Most deep cycle chargers use a variable charge rate, to get the most juice into the batteries.

For the trolling motor deck, measure the size of the base on the angle you want it(Typically pointed to the right)

Use a cardboard as a template on the deck. Just place it on top and from underneath trace it out from the inside. cut it and use it as a template to cut the plywood. 3/4 exterior is fine, marine grade is better

Then use some contact cement spray and carpet it.

Take a 2x4 and trace it as well making it slightly larger to go across from side to side at the back of your board and at the front of your board. Attatch it with appropriate screws/bolts and your ready to go.

If you do it right the plywood deck for the trolling motor should sit flush with the gunwales of the boat. If you want storage for your battery you can build a little enclosure under the deck you have built.

Its not really that hard to do but a bow mount will be awesome for you for fishing. The only thing to keep in mind is the cover may not fit right if you have one. Also with the string, if its too long it will be really hard to lift the motor out of the water.

As for the trolling motor, if your getting a used one I would go with a manual or cable steer. They typically have less issues. the electric foot plate ones often give people a hastle.

For brands, MinnKota and Humminbird both have there following. I would stay away from the other brands, as parts may be harder to find.

Alwasy keep a spare lock pin with you, cause if it break you will be in for a long day on the water. You will know what teh lock pin is when you get your motor.

Really its not that hard to do and you will have rgeat satisfaction when yout out on the water. I can almost guarantee you that you will be replacing the handle style trolling motor with a foot pedal one before long. So if you can get a good deal scrape up the extra coin. :)

  3. I was just about to buy some mapleleaf coasters as I got the approval from the boss, but now I am going to haev to wait, as there are way too many coasters on the ice. Someone needs to light a match under these guys and I don't think wilson can do it. Actually they need more than a match they need an A-Bomb

  4. Although Wilson was not hired by Burke, Wilson was hired while the whole Burke situation was being dealt with internally, so the Wilson hiring was although not done by burke, he no doubt had input. Not to mention he extended him. I too think Wilson should go. Allong with this get the "Americans on the team first" attitude.

  5. What kind of boat is this going on? Thats thef first question that needs to be answered before anyone could say what he way to go is. For a bracket on say an open bow alluminum, all you really need is to mount a piece of plywood on the bow and your off to the races.

  6. how about Kelly Hrudey or Nick Kypreos, they seem to know everything about how to coach a winning team. I'm not too sure who is out there but, I would think Dallas Eakins would be the go to guy as an interim anyway. He is well received by all of his players and has done pretty good with the marlies.

  7. This has been one of the more interesting threads in a while, as far as I am concerned they can keep it closed, There are enough type of fish available to catch and eat in Ontario. Perch, Whitefish, crappie, walleye, ling, Pike and of course the multitude of trout species. I just thought it was amazing to see a large school of them literally attacking our baits right under our feet like a swarm of sharks. it was very cool to see. Looks like the record for an ontario cisco is 4.33 pounds. Now these were not 5 pound fish, maybe 2 pounds, they seemed to have the length but were so skinny. I wonder if there is enough food for them, perhaps similar to kawartha musky, long and lean.

  8. I'm seeing double :tease::blink::w00t:

Typical of the seniorita fans, always doubling everything like the number of cups they have won... Err wait I guess that's still zero.

Clearly wilson wanted a goalie at the deadline from what he said at the post game. The d sucked pretty bad. Unfortunatly the caps won as well.

  9. Wow, you know your team in n trouble when The Seniority himself, Spezza is your top penalty killer. rofl. Does he change into goalie pads to block shots? Or does he just cherry pick outside the blue line waiting for a puck dump? Might also explain the senioritas 2.97 goals against average. At least the Leafs PK has been getting much better since the horrible begining to the season they had. In fact I believe they have one of the top PK% since the allstar break.

  10. If you want brookies in algonquin you are going to have to go a few lakes deep. That will give you the middle of nowhere feel, and likely put you into some good fish numbers. Anything other than an opening weekend weeked plus 2 or 3 though and you'll be smack into bug season and they are veracious in the park.

  11. With 20 games left, considering the leafs have what 1 win in the last 8 games or something and they are only 3 points out with 3 games in hand on the team in 8th? I am fairly happy considering I had no expectations of making, and I was going to be happy with seeing everyone develop this year and challenge for a spot. The position they are in is exactly what my amitions were for the team this year.

  12. Do people eat them? What would them compare to? Didn't look like alot of meat on them, but you would get some really long fish sticks I guess. I would compare them in shape and size to a typical hammer handle pike for anyone that hasn't seen them. Were they re introduced or something?

  13. After getting swarmed by a school of ciscos on the weekend, catching and release a dozen or more of them while perch fishing, what is the story behind these? I presume they were once endangered or were never there and are being reintroduced? I am not too sure what if anything would feed on them as these ones were pretty damn big. skinny, but long. At lest 20inches or longer.

  14. Fans have been screaming for years for the brass to stop giving up young players and draft picks for quick fixes.Well that is exactly what he is doing and yet some want to go back to the old ways??? Nash would be awesome but not at the cost of two young guys and picks. Why sacrifice youth to maybe and I repeat maybe scrape into the playoffs? I say sit in 9th or 10th and do some tinkering in the summer.

I don't think Nash gets us into the playoffs. I think the leafs need a goalie. I like the leafs defense, they are so young still, they need a few years to mature. If you defense is weak you need a strong goalie(aka Vancouver). If your goalie is weak you need a strong defense(aka Detroit)... The leafs are building both from youth. This year from the beginning I said they leafs would miss unless reimer pans out. So far he hasn't(I would blame this mostly on alaire and the injury). I am happy the leafs have a competitive team and CAN compete with any team on any given night. (aside from Boston).

I would have liked to see a deal for a vet goalie but I guess we got what we got.
