  1. I just wanted to bump this thread as my issues got sorted out. I went to Boat Tech in Pickering. I talked to Grant, a super nice guy. We chatted for fishing for a bit and off I went. He called me back a few days later and told me that its all fixed up and the issues was just a wiring fault. The price charge was extremly reasonably, and I am a happy custommer. If anyone needs to get your trolling motor fixed and you happen across this thread I would happily recommend going to see Grant at Boat Tech in Pickering.

  2. The motivation for the attack was blatantly racist. This was even echoed in the Appeal to have the sentance lowered. The appeal was turned down in part because of the fact that it was a racially motivated crime.

I have personally seen, heard and have had happen to racism while fishing on the lake and on shore. I have even seen in person people that post on this very forum act out in a racist manour towards asians.

To try and push this off as some good old boys just getting a bit stupid when they got drunk is skirting the facts. The fact that the young man that got seriously injured was white is irrelevant. The motive, and the reason for the attack to have started from the begining was due to the racist punks that did what they did.

As far as terminolgoy being racist or not, people use terms that they don't realize are racist all the time. Like itis. I have heard lots of people say "oh man that was some serious turkey, I got the itis for sure" However it is in fact a racial slur against black people. The term white bucket brigade is clearly a racist insult and jab against asian that fish from shore. So make joke all you want about blck buckets or yellow buckets or whatever rainbow you wish, you can do so now knowing that the majority of decent humans on the earth know that you are just painting yourself as an ignorant racist. Why not use the correct terminolgy and call them shore fisherman? Is that so hard? Does it hurt you? Sometimes being a little bit pollitically correct is the right thing to do.

  3. If there were big monsters, I would go for catch and release. I can't recall when I have ever kept a bass and I fish for them almost every weekend. I be happy enough for the same with walleye. The same goes for musky and pike. Crappie I doubt I would go fishing for if it were catch and release though. I mean lots of guys eat pike and noone cares. It tastes good, but musky its a moral no no. I imagine musky tastes like pike, but I have never tried it.

  4. Just ban keeping any walleye for 5 years. That'll rebound the stocks of walleye. I do like to eat walleye for sure, but it seems the answer is so obvious. Stock it heavily once, don't allow any to be taken out. Catch and release is ok. Sure some illegal poaching will occur but that's what the MnR is for. Give it time to heal itself. There are other lakes with walleye, heck even the grocery store. Why not try a spring trip to eat pike instead of walleye. Or crappie... Give em a rest I say. Everyone wants to point fingers here or there, the reality is they are all right. Everyone is to blame.

  5. Don't remove the seats. Besides losing strength, you will also lose the foam that ma keep you afloat if you flood the boat. Here is mine. I just redecked it.

Front deck is supported by a 2x4 frame and is on a pian hinge, the whole thing comes up.

The rear has a livewell installed under one and the gas tank area has a hinged deck.

I also took the time to convert to side console versus tiller. Way more comfy to cruise in a console.

  6. Don't forget boat trailers are fairly low center of gravity compared to say a 15' travel trailer. The wind isn't going to rock it nearly as much. I can say this, we had a 17 foot travel trailer with truck tires on it once as the tire guy said it would be fine and was well within the ewight rating. That son of a gun nearly killed us one year. Switched back to trailer tires and it was like night and day different.

I am not going to say its the same for everyone and every trailer and every situation, but I mean its really not a huge price difference. Its just one less thing I want to worry about.

  7. Iv'e never caught a walleye from this lake in 30 years of fishing it.Lots of lake trout and lots of bass

Must be a rogue walleye I caught last year while drifting for smallies. I just figured that's what everyone was fishing for. It wasn't very big mind you so they must be breeding at least in small numbers.

  8. Grant at boat tech is a great person to deal with.

just did my motor burn't brushes and aramature, i reapired it myself at a cost of 120 for aramature, brushes, brush plate abd seal kit.

what is yoor motor doing? is the direction light working on top of the head?

The direction light doesn't come on. There is power getting through on momentary switch when I push it and power when I put it on constant. There is also power in the two thick wires. Not sure what the thin wires are for. I have today to tinker then tomorrow I'll have to drop it off for repair.

  10. I can't imagine a 9mm, 50, or 45 handgun rounds passing through a bear. Maybe if they grazed it. A shotgun with a sabbot yah, chances are though they had a shotgun with lead slugs or buckshot. I doubt they would all carry rifle barrels and sabbot just in case. And this whole situation of police shooting bears in towns where they haven't before, proves that there is some changes to the bear population. A result of possibly. A reduction in hunting causing a greater pressure on natural food supply and forcing bears to move outwards towards cities.
