  2. Well the plan was to do some serious Musky fishing for a few days, but the first outing of trolling is all we managed to do. We didn't get any takers but I had 3 follows, one looked like a tiger. We also had a huge one cruise by use while Bass fishing with its head clear out of the water. Unfortunately no pics or video of that one. I was too busy casting in front of it trying to entice it to bite a spinner bait. :)

We spent 6 days at Balsam Lake PP, we got rained on twice but it was great fun regardless..

    When the rain dried up...

We had a few friends stop by for snacks...

This guy stuck around for about 30 minutes checking every nook and cranny for a snack.

    The evening stars were great...

and we did manage to boat several good sized bass... here is the biggest from the kids.

I managed to boat a PB kawartha Smallie. Well over 5 pounds, unfortunately no picture. Was caught on a crankbait in the shallows I believe the water temp was about 74 degreesin that area and it was mid afternoon. Another great catch was a double header smallie... Now when I say double header, I mean two fish at the same time on the same lure. It was a floating X-Rap. Hooked one and another smacked it. Boated both. They were about 1.5 pounds each. One hooked on the front treble and the other on the rear treble. First time I have ever boated a pair like that. I have hooked a few like that but never managed to get them to the boat.

Anyway, if anyone is considering a trip to Balsam Lake, its well worth it the campgrounds were clean and the staff friendly. The free boat launch was great and was never too busy. I wish we had more time to go fishing for musky but alas time was not on our sides as we lost 2 days of fishing from the rain.

P.S. a big thanks to everyone that shared some spots with us they were all very helpful and that where we manage to see some musky.

  3. Looks fake to me, you never see the guy actually get a bite. The fish are all hooked the same and theres way too much editing. Sorry not buying that lure.

I would tend to agree but I am pretty sure this video is all in fun, and not meant to be serious, but wasn't it italo or waschuck that got whacked for fines for hooking fish on a lure throwing them in and recatching them? I think those were oos or originally snagged or something. Just saying.... this video looks to be all in fun though.

  4. Thanks guys! I didnt think they were worth to much..If they were I was going to give some cash to my friend. Its funny I read the instructions that is in the box and its a top water bait that your supposed to use a piece of pork rind or frog chunk with..So back to using frogs as bait :whistling: lol..Seriously thou who would cut a chunk off of a frog...lol ill try to post a pic of the instructions..Its a good read..

I say keep that one on the shelf, and buy a new one and use it...

  5. So I heard that carlisle said he is going to be running jvr up the middle on the top line through camp.... I recall a thread a while ago where I said jvr will be tested at center and if nash got here so would he.... I got ripped up for that. Haha.. Now I am not saying it would work just that its gonna happen at least for a test. Anyway... Not much left on the market lou doesn't sound like its gonna happen, and nash who knows.... Is anyone left? What trades are available? It'll be interesting to see what the lines are coming out of camp.

  6. Oh, not bass city, I have been there. Maybe it was in pickering... not too sure really. My mind has slipped a bit I guess, but in my defense I only went there once.

Pretty certain south of the 401, somwhere between DVP and lets say Gagnon's. Not Lucky, AV, or JB's... not the one that used to be on Kingston road either. It would have been open in 2008 for sure, because I have pictures of a few musky I cuaght with those lures the weekend I bought them.

  7. Eglington and Warden sound slike the area i was thinking. Guess they aren't around anymore. Couldn't find the musky or Bass stuff I was looking for at proJ, AV or Lucky last night. Will have to bite the bullet and go for a drive. Maybe I'll take an extendo lunch today.

  8. I seem to recall about 3 or 4 years ago going to a tackle shop in scarborough that had a pretty good selection of musky stuff. Does anyone know where that was and if its still in business? I want to say it was south of the 401... a fairly narrow store but very long isles Musky stuff was in the back right and left hand corners...

  9. Thanks, for all the info folks, its much appreciated. I hope to be able to provide some excellent release pictures of some balsam musky, maybe even a video or two. This one from Pigeon a few years back still cracks me up. As you can tell priority one when the fish got to the boat was getting it in and back out asap. The camera hit the deck like a horror movie, and the fish was back in the water without even a picture, but the struggle was great. We have learned a bit since then and get the big net right away. lol
