  1. yep, I am all for getting a veteran goalie for the play-offs as long as we don't need to give much up. If we could get someone vet number 2 in exchange for one of our's plus say bozak or grabovski. I would be in for that, LA and Vancouver both have excellent number 2's better than either of ours.

  2. I haven't seen that report yet, I heard that Nonis was given permission to talk to him, but I also recall Kipper saying he won't report to any team if traded.

Jagr to the Bruins is an interesting move though.

What about Kiprosoff?,I heard he is now a leaf!,38 years old?,what do you guys think!!

  3. The whole point of self sustaining is to have the natural breeders replace the ones taken out. I don't think anyone thinks that is happening. Need to reduce the take on all fronts, clean up and protect spawning grounds, and let the current breeders spawn. A few years of "No Take" on ALL fronts with a vastly reduced take would go a long way. There are some risks involved with farming and what not, by inadvertently introducing disease and poor genetics. Look at what is happening out west with the Salmon. All good intentions but look at the result.

  4. Also be careful about getting stranded though, or make sure you have a rope to pull that motor over by hand if you drain it.

Deep Cycles can start a motor without issue as long as you enough cranking amps. Batteries don't boil off water while under use, they boil off during the charging cycle, so if you are constantly charging it with the engine yes your elecrolyte levels can go down. An AGM woul dbe ideal if you are using it as a dual purpose as it won't lose any water but it may overheat if you overcharge it with your outboard. There are a few things to keep in mind, thats why most people just use a deep/starter combo battery for the ouboard and a true deep cycle for everything else. Less to think about. I haven't had to charge my cranking battery in 3 years.

Now if you were to be using a starting battery as a deep cycle you will run into problems with the battery. They are not designed to last through more than a charging cycles.

  5. We have bumped our trout opener for the park by a week. two years ago the speckle lake we fish was still partly covered with ice and we got skunked.

Think I should move it by a week? I just want to get there before anyone else fishes it this year...

  6. Was out driving around... starting to see some open water forming... About 1 foot of open water at the public launch in Port Perry on the weekend. The trent by 12 is open water, not sure how far that extends towards the lake. The harbour area of the bridge between cooch and simcoe is open water about 500 yards on either side of the causeway... Not much else to report on...Looks like a cold month at night still, the speckle lake might still be frozen for the opener.

  7. Johnson Controls make good batteries. Sold by Costco, Walmart, Interstate etc... All the components are identical and come off of the exact same line. They are also the biggest supplier of OEM batteries.

The sealed AGM batteries are the best, can be charged and discharge about twice as many times, as more shock resistant and provide a much flatter power curve. The flatter power curve gives you full power right until the end. Then they just cut out and die. Can be good or bad. Depending on how mindful you are. Just be careful not to charge them too hot.

  8. Pretty sure Iginla said in his press release "He was excited to play with the best player in the league"... yah for all of 55 seconds.. Last time I checked broken jaw is 3.5-8 weeks. typically 6-8 weeks, then it back with a full mask. 6 weeks puts it as a return for the end of the first or begining of the second round. Wonder if the Pens will still be in it by then.

  9. Ther eis no one thing that will regenerate a lake. To think its this or that or this is just silly.

Its purely mathematics. You take out more fish than what are reproduced and the levels will go down.

    The questions are.

How many fish are born and survive each year.

How many fish are being taken out by recreational anglers.

How many fish are being taken out by aboriginals.

How many are taken out by commercial fishing.

How many are taken out by poachers.

Trying to just add osme fish without knowing or having a good idea of the rest of the numbers is just a stopgap that in the end could actually do more harm than good as it could lead to covering up the real problems.
