  1. No man thats screwed up, yours is buggered for sure, your proabably over charging it or something. on 2 amp trickle charge it should take about 8- 15 hours depending on the battery type and how depleted(pretty much plan for overnight on 2 amp).

on the max setting it should zap it up to full in well under an hour sure. I don't charge deep cycles this way as the charge doesn't fully saturate the thicker plates, but for charging a starting battery its fine.

8 hours on 12 amps is really screwed up for sure.

  2. I have never owned one that worked the way it was supposed to for more than one or two charges. Its really annoiying. My plan is to now wait til my current one freaks out then go return it, and take it back still in the box to a different ctc and get a store credit on the sale price. I am sick of this piece of crap.

    Yours sounds like its buggered.

at the 12 amp charge setting it should only take about 20 minutes max to fully charge a battery.

Here is the test. put the thing on the voltage setting, and watch it. When yours is screwed the voltage will stay the same for a long period. If you unplug it and measure the voltage with a voltmeter and its different it means your charger is buggered. Take it back.

also often if you unplug it and plug it back in it will updte the voltage, however if you need to unplug it its not much of an automatic charger now is it.

If you over charge your batery it could explode. Thats why they invented automatic chargers. To avoid blowing them up. These stupid things don't shut off.

Your battery fully charged should read around 13.5 volts Don't let it go over 14.

  3. A few things to ponder,

1)No Columnaris was found in Scugog dead carp. This was in the paper as released by the MNR.

2)That bacteria affects more justcarp so other species would have died

    3) This was not the result of spawning stress of poulation as the spawn was well over when the dead ones showed up in the other lakes.

    4) Carp Suck

    5) The MNR Lies all the timeso why would anyone even believe that they even ran any tests, let alone release the actual results. They don't have enough money to drive the carp to the testing facility I am so sure they would have enough money to run a bunch of expensive tests.

It was obviously some carp related disease. Was it put in by the MnR? I doubt it. They just don't care and they know that 95 percent of the population doesn't give a carp about carp. :)

My only concern is they they were soo fast to say the water was safe for normal use before they even had any wif of what could have been wrong. This fact was very disturbing to me.

  4. I was going to buy a 2 bank one. but I am going to wait until next spring. Mine will hobble along until next year. Asumming this one works. but its not looking very promissing. I put my batteries on charge again and its acting wonky. I think ctc will just keep putting them on sale over and over until they clear the stock. then they will discontinue it and not do returns any more. They will offer to send it away for repair at some charge I am sure. Keep your reciepts if you got one. I can't stress it enough don't buy these pieces of crap.

    Don't buy this thing.

I have returned 3 over the past 5 months. They keep breaking. Same thing with every one. It will work fine for a while half a dozen charges, but after a while the circuitry goes wonky. When left on trickle charge it only updates the Voltage for a half an hour or so then gets stuck and will over change. If you unplug it and plug it back it the voltage gets updated.

eg PLug it in charge at 30 percent, climbs to say 60 percent, and stays there for hours. Unplug it and plug it back in now its at 90 percent.

I am now on my 4th one in about 5 months. The one good thing is they keep exchanging it because it has a 5 year warranty. :) Make sure you keep your eciept if you buy one, and keep an eye on it under the trickle charge mode. The quick charge cycle seems to work just fine. I think it just overheats or something.

  6. The weedline goes from the south shore to the north shore and from the west shore to the eastshore. You can pretty much just start driving in an aimless direction for an undertermined length of time stop and fish the weedline. You may occaisonally encounter an area of no weeds. but it will be small the size of a hula hoop. :)

  7. Not sure about boats on the other side but its 9 miles to the top of the lake, so not sure how long that would take in a tin can, in mine its about 10 or 15 minutes to the top then you can fish down the lake on the other side from there. Maybe 30 minutes in a 20 hp 14 foot tin can. I don't think I would wanna go all that way in a 9.9 though.

You will probably drive over a whole bunch of fish on your way though. :)

    Weedless

  8. Its not hard to do,

Run some Stabil in it for the last run on the lake,

Fill it right to brim with gas.

    Change the drive oil.

Unhook the water hose from the intake on the block and pour antifreeze in.

You should also change your engine oil at this time and check your belts.

Some prefer to change the water impellor at this time, I like to do it in the spring when I springerize it. :)

I also fog the motor, but thats really up to you many people don't bother.

Remove the batteries and yor pretty much good to go.

Make sure you leave the drain plug out and the boat tilted back with the drive lowered(don't leave it up for extended periods it causes undue strain on the belows, throw some moth balls in the bilge and in the boat to keep mice and the like away as well.

As an extra you should pull the drive off and check the Bellows while your doing the gear oil replacement and the water pump to make sure none are cracked or weathered but most people don't. I do though.

But yah man your way to early.

Boat places usually charge in the 100 dollar range to winterize and I doubt very much they do everything I have mentioned.

I am sure most just pour some stabil in, fog it, disconnect the batteries and maybe change the drive oil.

  9. Totally don't want to hijack or start a debate but, yes occaisonally when fishing for something else you are unprepared for a musky, and yes sometimes you need to do things you normally wouldn't do to a musky.

A stern talking to before releasing should keep all the other musky in the area away. :P

Great fish. Last time I went out my duaghters and wife out fished me. Its great that way because then they want to go out more. :)

Great fish, congrats to your daughter.

  10. That side of lake from what I am told is not nearly as good fishing as on the other side. Although I have hear of people catching musky down byt he causeway. I know people fish right off the public Launch dock at night for pickeral and I have seen them catch many so the pic's are there to be had. Not too sure where they venture to during the daylight hours though. Try using minnows for the eye's, buzz baits for the musky and no matter what you choose make sure its weedless.

Did I mention get weedless? If not I should tell you to plan on fishing stuff that is weedless. If itsn't not weedless your not going to be fishing for long before you give up and go for an icecream. So the moral is to fish with something that is weedless.

    Weedless.

  11. I prefer IO's versus outboards. The gas is the biggest thing. Once you get used to working on them I don't find it difficult at all to work on an inboard. In fact I would much prefer to work on an inboard. Not nearl as cramped and squishy, bending screwdrivers to get in there and squashing your fingers to get this off etc...

The gas savings is enormous, but if you are really looking to stretch your season out beyond say october than you will want to go with an outboard.

If your going to be tubing and water skiing etc... I would go with an IO. IO's have great decks on the back for fishing and no outboard in he way so you can see the people your tubing.

The performance is better on an outboard though as they will turn out more RPM per HP.

But will suck nearly twice the gas for the same speed.

If your going to run really shallow waters then go with an outboard. they drive sits higher in the water than an IO does.

Are you buying new or used?

I really don't buy the thing people say about Outboards having more room. They may gain about a foot of floor space but they lose about 2 feet of rear deck space.

I looked at two identical model Glastron's when I bought my boat, both the same year and model, one with an IO and one with an Outboard, and they both had identical seating area but the available space was much large in the inboard.

  12. The actual Map creation part is a bit comlicated and can get screwed up and mess up the base map. Learned the hard way.

What I would need everyone to do is use Mapsource and draw route lines to mark the depth contours and email me the route lines. Make the name of the route the depth of that contour line. Then I will edit the route markers onto at topographic map and post the img file. You can then use a program(free download) to upload the customized map to your own gps.

How you get the route lines to match up with the contour lines I will leave that up to your imagination. Wink Wink... Nudge Nudge.....www<dot>torrentreactor<dot>net

  13. Need to use a couple of tools. cGPS Mapper can convert an MP to an IMG, but the hard was to get the base maps overlayed with the depth chart details. As I am sure everyone with a garmin knows you can download the Depth charts but can't upload them to your unit. I only fish a handful of lakes so once I have the lakes I fish plotted I am good to go. :)

  14. Well, not sure if this is legal or not. I would assume it's legal since no real "hacker" type tools were created. I found a way to create depth charts and be able to turn them into Garmin Image files and then upload them to my GPS.

It took me about 20 minutes to create the image file for the west half of Scugog and uplaod to my Etrex Legend.

I am very happy about this. If you have a Garmin unit and are semi decent with a mouse and a computer its not really that hard. This is a completly undocumented way to do it. No gimmicks or any crap like that. You can just create your maps and upload them. I was even able to fix a road that was wrong and add a few other things like parks, gas stations, docks, marshes etc...

    Its very cool.

I can't wait to get a bit more time to play with it. If anyone is interested in finding out how, I would like to create a bit of a team of a few people so we can work together to rebuild the Garmin Blue Charts and distribute it for free. If your interested let me know. :clapping::thumbsup_anim:
