Terry has all the arguments.. Next time they announce a major snow storm and dangerousness road conditions. The 1000000 drivers here in the GTA that get in accidents should be billed for every cop, fire truck , and emergency responder that shows up bet this nonsense would stop the first day.

I have to agree with both sides have points in this issue but I don't think the idle no more is clear on what they want, also on what can be fixed.

If the goverment gave a billion more but it went to the select few and then was gone. We would not solve the issues.

Both parties need to figure out what can be fixed.

Paul I don't understand the "tourist fishing license"' now I'm not complaining but I paid almost $70 last year for my license and will do the same this year, how much more should I pay?

Sorry to be clear a tourist fishing license should be cheaper and the same as a sportsman.

We need to encourage other people outside of canada to come to the area.

Like you said you payed $70 last year add that to the cost of travel no wonder people are going elsewhere.

Fishing is not something the GTA really care’s about. This is a trend that will continue as more kids grow up not experiencing the outdoors.

Why the MNR did this.

1. People have to kill less fish. Same as the spring bear hunt good thing for a vocal animal rights group in the GTA
2. People owning resorts can't make a living and sell water front property - good for cottages.
3. When has the government really been aggressive to lower northern unemployment? They really don’t care as there is nothing that can be vote affecting.
4. The native issue would be controversial
5. Stocking is expensive. Even if it worked as a “put and take” would the benefit out way the cost.
6. Reducing a certain bird would be controversial with animal rights group.

It was an easy way out.

Personal thoughts for fixing…

A tourist fishing licence for people outside Ontario

Allow local groups to stock.

Fix the netting issue so all parties are happy

All money collected by MNR stays in MNR

OH! This is easy!!!

 

You NEED: A clam 7-10 man hut, a quad or sled, a gas auger, 20-30 ice combos spooled with expensive flouro and ice braid, tear drop jigs, swedish pimples, kastmasters, williams wobblers, 500 varieties of tiny gulp baits, live minnows, worms, waxies, mousies AND maggots, a Vex- not just any Vex, the most expensive one.. and to be fair to everyone else, a good ice sonar and underwater camera, just in case.

Radio world had a killer deal on a Lowrence Mark-5x DSI portable. With shipping it came to 130 dollars.

Going to give this ice fishing a fair shot this winter as well, may as well do it right

The DSI models are not good for the ice

The lowrence 4x with no GPS is a good deal but really you can get a decent used one for about 100

I went down to the lower grand on sat. Water was moving but not too bad. Stop in at fishmasters he has a protected area to launch and the staff gave me some great tips where to try.

After trying an ICE 67C with the Ice traducer last winter I was sold. My skimmer would see lots of fish in deep water but you never know how close. With the ICE transducer If I saw them on the screen I know the fish is closer.

If you read further into the story you will find that the R@D actually does not create any "New" jobs its all for university grants and exciting departments are spared for a couple more years.
