I unfortunately don't have a garage yet just a large shed and a lean to for now. I bought a 2003 polaris rmk 700 8 years ago for $2000. I drove it for 3 years and sold it for $2500 thinking I'd buy something newer and well life got in the way and didn't buy another sled until last winter. I bought a beater that I don't trust one bit. Now years later I can't find a 03 rmk for under $2500 the prices of sleds have sky rocketed. My atv is a brand new reliable machine and which is why I was thinking tracks for it. I plan on keeping the wheeler for many years so tracks seems like a good investment. Although I was searching the depths of the Internet and ppl are saying a plow won't fit with tracks on so I'm feeling stumped right now.

That makes sense.

Almost anyone could weld an extension for a plow.

Ask any buds that weld, even if not professionally

I did it on a skid steer, made an extension 10ft long to get under tail pullies, and in all honesty I have no clue how to weld professionally

Got all of 4" of snow in the bush. My sled doesn't like riding on rocks!!!

we probably have close to 2 feet of ice by now though, Been pretty warm so far this year.

Looking like I'm going to have to move snow off the lake onto my trail to get a good base.

You know where I can get one of those snow making machines they use @ the ski resorts cheap?

Wow thats a bummer! Nature I spose eh? We have had about 3ft of white stuff in NW ontario so far, and shes been purdy cold lately.

Hopefully ya get some snow so ya can haul up materials and build.

You know, i was just reading the latest thread to get locked and also looked back through the last 6 pages to see other locked threads. Sometimes the lockdown revolves around politics which of course get's people worked up. Sometimes it is someone hijacking a topic which is not fair to the original poster. Things seem to really go south when people start getting personal. I don't get it.

 

Questions for those here that are repeat offenders:

 

• Do you know that person you are attacking personally? If so, take it off line we don't all need to see the back and forth. If you don't know them, how would you feel if you met that person at a boat launch or better yet at a resort? You would feel like a real tool, especially when you find out that the person is very decent.

• Are you sitting in front of the keyboard drinking alcohol and taking unprescribed drugs and just going on a rant? If the answer is yes you should refrain from any replies and "read only".

• Do you put yourself in their shoes before you type something? For example, there are members here who are married to, living with, or friends with First Nations Folks. Attacking these people with general comments is not fair and puts people on the defensive. How would you feel in that situation? It does not matter what someones background is, we all deserve the same level of respect.

In my own life, when I get upset or angry with someone, I always sit back and think about what I am going to say. I never reply or call right away, I will make notes to discuss over the phone or save an email as a draft until the next day and review what I intended to say. Some of you should try taking this advice and calm down.

 

It is no wonder why so many great contributors to OFC have either left the site or post very little. I have never been a big poster, more of a daily reader and I find it really off putting to see what goes on here sometimes.

 

This is a great site. Just show others respect and courtesy and remember your audience. Sometimes there are women, children and visible minorities reading this board.

they came by for the cencus multiple times and it was all screwed up because i was in the process of moving so my gf at the time had moved the day before and was technically not in canada during the day I as well as her destination completed the census.

I looked at an atv with tracks in the spring. Almost bought it but I sat and pondered the idea for a few days and decided against it.

I want use out of a machine and multi function if possible. I didnt really see that with tracks

I like my older sleds, but if I get anything else its going to be a "gator" style atv with multiple functions. Yeah the price goes up 10 fold, but I use these machines alot and they are def. Worth it IMO.

The cool thing about a gator is you could really do some killer back lake fishing. Almost nothing will get one stuck if your reasonable

They are surprisingly good on gas too. A tank lasts over 30 hours of use.

In your case id stick to a snowmobile

Guys keep in mind the people going door to door are just ordinary people like you and I. Doing their job & putting bread on the table.

 

My sweet mother was a census worker for a couple years and did some door to door. I don't see the need to give them trouble/attitude. It's not like these people are trying to sell you something. The information gathered is purposeful, or at least that's the intent.

 

Also keep in mind that it's our legal duty to fill out any census requirements. Just like some speed limits, I may not be in agreement, but it's the law anyway.

Its the census thats a pain, not those delivering it.

The two guys that delivered our were super nice, but scared of our dog lol.

They advertised census deliverers for hire at the post office. Seems like a decent gig for those that need work, extra work etc.

any any operator has the right to set any rules he wants as to limits drinking and as in fly in many will not let you take any fish home

they tell you before you go and if you don't like it you don't book with them

I also agreed with you that iperators could indeed set rules. My only point was in many cases they cannot enforce them legally. Sure they can bar you the individual from using their services but thats about it.

What I mean is this.

Im native(which I am not, just for case and point) I pay an outfitter to fly me to a fishing location. Their rules state no alcohol and no fish over a sporting license.

So I sneak a bottle on board and get hammed fishing. Oufitter finds out and does what? Leaves me on a secluded island to die? Or I keep 6 fish instead of 4, he wont allow two of 6 on his plane. Again, what else can he do? Leave me on a secluded island to die? He can disallow thise fish from coming on his plane and no longer allow me to use their services. Thats about it. Maybe spread the word to other outfitters too I suppose.

I ran into a similar issue with my fishing derby. Although rules didnt allow you to keep fish, many did, legally. All I could do was disqualigy them from the derby. It was also a no alcohol event, I barred 3 or 4 more from drinking during the event. Thats all I could do.
