  1.

LOL, what would you tell a CO if he found a sturgeon or trout in your bait bucket? I got that at a bait store? ya right!

I didnt have to worry about it because I showed them the sturgeon and questioned them about it.

In hindsite I should have called the MNR but there was only ONE sturgeon in the tank(which they kindly let me look at) so I dont believe any punishment would be fitting.

Mistakes do happen, and some 17 year old girl surving up minnows obviously didnt notice.

Im glad I did though because yeah, that would be an akward one to explain to a CO

But how would you even catch a 3" sturgeon by any means other than a net???

I guess that would be my defense if needed

  2. Somehow these goons manage to convince the people they fleece that they are their only savour. It's mind boggling. Trump made a career out of not paying working class people for work performed, and somehow they think he cares about "the little guy"'.

I like to think people are intelligent and knowledgeable enough per the masses to not buy into that.

I genuinely believe, like Trump, these individuals gain traction by default.

Its like getting in trouble at work and some guy shows up and chews out your boss over it.

People get behind that fairly quickly.

Whether its genuine or not is def. Debatable.

Drastic measures seem to unite people en masse quickly when the country and average worker etc are not thriving.

Not saying its good or bad. Just been my personal observation

  3. True, but those are usually bigger deeper lakes. And the muskies that live in those lakes are a different strain than the ones that live in the Kawarthas. I don't think the Kawartha muskies will do well with pike.

Yeah, my comment wasnt to say everything will be fine.

I dont know the chain of lakes so Im just learning from whats been said on here in numerous threads, and from alot of knowledgeable and passionate anglers.

I hope it doesnt cause issues for the lake(s) and or there is a reasonable solution.

If I was there, id be teaching people to fillet pike.

Wynn has really screwed it up. I know of so many die hard Liberals that are saying they will vote conservative for the first time ever next Provincial election. I think we are all starting to agree that the ban hammer needs to be dropped on spending.

    Spending and taxation

  5. I think the concensus is that it is not illegal to just say racist remarks.

But a person subject to racism can get in touch with human rights tribunal and give the offending party quite the issues.

Its a weird subject. Ever watch "Family Guy"?

The show says some pretty outlandish stuff but I guess its okay under the pretext of satire???

    I really dont know?

Its just not a good idea to say such things. Nothing good can come of it thats for sure.

  6. Call me a racist, but if I was in the business of renting huts, guiding, charter boat, lodge or something of that nature I would demand my clientele abide by the Fish and Game regulations. If I found them to be in contravention of the regulations I would see that they are charged but if pulling a status card allows them to betray my trust and thumb their noses at me and the law, they are not welcome at my business. That being said, this guy is obviously a train off the rails with some of the stuff but I do see his point on the status thing.

Thats not racist at all. Id say that would be very responsible business actions and very good for conservation

You might not have seen the other comments he made. So it indeed went waaaay further than just the kijijji add. And it wasnt just towards indiginous or "card holders"

  7. there is 100% confirmed pike in rice lake as is a few of the other kawartha lakes it just takes years to verify as I went through this a few years ago in a lake in haliburton, trying to tell the MNR there was pike in a certain system, and they didn't believe me till I actually caught more and took pics, then they tell me they want a scale sample....they finally caught one in a net and then confirmed they are there so it is a process to get a species confirmed in a body of water...

A time stamped GPS on photo is not enough???

A simple picture shows date time and location

    Silly MNR

  8. Ive never actually had a pike hammer a perch. Its happened TONNES with walleye though! Thats one of the "get the net" moments trying to land 2 fish at once.

I once had a 27" pike on fishing off the dock and a huge northern took multiple runs at it. In the clear water is was pretty fun to watch that huge northern jolt up and hit it like a missle from below.

In the end I had to keep the 27"er as is was bleeding from the gills and had three seperate chunks removed from its back

Its more rare but ive had a few big walleye take runs at lil hammer handles. And bass taking runs at pike as well but thats more terrtorial lol. Flying headbut to the pike lol

  9. Due to my wife's asthma, we only use our woodstove for emergency and entertainment (nice to watch on those -20 to -30 nights)... If we have no hydro, I cook on the BBQ...damn cold standing on the back porch sometimes but worth it for a hot cup of coffee in the morning...Has anyone ever tried a foil wrapped meal (like the boy scouts do in a bonfire) in your woodstove?

Yes. And its a a really good way to cook provided you think it through a little before hand

Some foods dont cook well in a tinfoil bag method, others are fantastic!

Potatoes obviously, fish and chicken can also be cooked in this method really good.

Deoending on your stove and what your burning though, id suggest keeping a close eye on what your cooking.

I burnt a meal once because the temp on the oldschool woodstove was super hot, probably upward of 8 or 900 degrees
