  6. Many thanks Leechman. I'll get around to posting some off shore pics soon as well. Yep, Rainy River is a great fishery, the walleye fishing has to be experienced to believe how good it actually is. It's great for smallmouth, sturgeon, pike and musky as well. If you come here targeting eyes though, its gotta be spring, fall or winter though, its not very good in the summer. I'm heading out again today, I'll try and get some more good pics. It's -4, sunny and zero wind, perfect day for walleye fishing!!!
  7. Yes, they are 100% c&r here. I think what happened was someone was poaching, and they were either spooked off or they were taking a break??? Anyhow, me and the girlfriend walked to the rapids to take some nature pics/prego photos and we discovered them. So we cut hem loose and tried to revive them. It didnt work out so well, they were upside down in only a few inches of water, and it was out of the current, so the water was real warm and dirty. I got them all to swim away eventually, after like an hour of trying, but the next day 3 of them were washed up on shore. Such a bummer. They were all pretty good size too, they were all probably 40 years old
  8. Thank you, and yeah, I know, that really bummed me out. We have so many here, but its important for them to be protected. I like catching them, don't get me wrong, but they MUST be released, and respected. Here is a few more pics... November 17th walleye, very cold fishing, lol The ghetto ice fishing trip. No sleds, no power auger, no real sled, haha, nothig stops me from fishing when I have the itch to go Right by our ice fishing shack, there is a hill. So I shoveled it off and packed it so the kids could slide if they got bored. I should also mention the 3 ft jump I built them! lol All the kids came for some fun sliding while daddy fished The shack Good eaters like this, all day long. My god I love Rainy River!!!

  12. I'm thinking of heading out for some fishing today. Might try and catch some Lings and learn how to cook em up, as we have never tried them before. I hear the river lings are not as tasty as great lakes version though? Me and a pal went out last night to check the shack, we were thinking of moving it. And we found a hyyyuge crack about a 1000 feet long running right through our spots though, so I'm a little skeptical. Going to play pool with the girl tonight though, other than that, I'll probably kill time making some lindy rigs etc. Maybe paint some homemade cranks I got in the works
  13. I just spooled up some Sufix 832 a week or so ago for ice fishing. It still freezes, but not anymore than a regular 10lb mono does. The line feels good and sensitivity is what you expect out of a braid. I'm looking forward to casting this line and see how it holds up. I currently used Camo braid for most braid applications, and was very happy with it(as long as you change out the line every so often)
  14. Just my .02, I have no issues with Dave offering an opinion on these baits, or any others. But I do see why some would be skeptical. Pro fishermen do this all the time though, and it's a part of their livelyhood, and thats respectable. Until an angler has obviously lied about something, we should take them at their word IMO. Even us anglers do the same thing all the time, right? Anyhow, about the baits. I think there crafted very well, and the price reflects the product. I have no issues paying a few extra dollars for a bait that cost money to produce in quality. I've used some of these baits in the past 8 months, and I like them. They definitely have their place in the tackle box. But, for a man that mainly fishes a stained river, they don't produce as good as other cranks etc for me. The realistic patterns are great, for clear water. When I tried them on clear bodies of water, they worked great, but so did about 20 other baits. One thing I did that worked very well was shallow trolling the perch bait for walleyes, and that was alot of fun
  15. Home, Rainy River. Spring run here is unreal Nice fish, whats the measurements? I'm guessing 31", around 11lbs???
  16. It's not great to use them frozen. I'm not sure about the scent, but it impairs the action on the bait
  17. pffft, hand augers are where it's at. Yeah right hey? On one outing a few weeks back I drilled like 25 holes, and I could swear I was one more hole away from a heart attack
  18. yep, right when i have to take my son to hockey, of course
  19. I grabbed some as well. Those are some great baits
  20. almost time for weigh ins. I wanna see what Ike is hiding
  21. out of all the frogs i've used, i prefer spro. but i will be grabbing some of these live target frogs this spring for sure. worst frog i've ever used in this style was a matzuo frog, so stiff and akward on the retrieve
  22. A few of us have been watching all day. I even got up early enough to have coffee before things got going. So far it looks pretty interesting, and it should be a entertaining weigh in. Especially since we all know basstrakk is horribly inaccurate
  23. Martens has figured something out, hes on the fish big time. Damn that must be exciting in a big tourny like that. I can't see Ike weighing in over 16-17lbs today, but he'll be in decent position if he can cull a few
  24. I like Ike as well, but his exaggerating always leaves me laughing. Thats cool to have a friend fishing the biggest tourny of the year. Hopefully he does good
  25. Iaconelli with 14lbs, lol I had to laugh at his interview or blog post that said he had about 10-12 bites in an hour of practice fishing, then Dave interviews him and it turns into 15 bites in an hour
