With that wild meat is always going to be the best.
Most of us know hunting and eating a wild turkey is soooo much better then a "butterball" turkey.

I would assume shes talking about the way the animal was raised.

Wow!
I once snagged a line and pulled up about 8-9 baits and i thought that was alot???
That is insane

Great work guys!!!
Simply awesome!

Theyve always been thick up in nw ontario.
Never seen one when i lived in edmonton or gande prarie. Then again they dont even have mosquitos

It not just vit b1. Your better off using a b complex. All the guys that work in the bush round here use it and it repels spruce bugs etc.As anicdotal , not suggested as reliable, B1 vitamin seems to discourage them. I used it one year visiting my relatives in Minnesota where even with strong DEET you got ate by mosquitoes and it seemed to help some with the mosquitoes. At sunset they mosquitoes rose like clouds and strong Deet and the B1 change it to slow Macarana instead of slap dancing. We went to an Uncles cottage and got stuck in the pine sand on the way back to it. So I was hot and thirsty and cut across the meadow and my Dad stayed to the road, later I also walked over to the creek to try casting a few flies. Now to the point... my Dad had stopped taking the B1, he had 3 ticks and all had bit, by the end of the day I had removed 75 and none had bit. I was taking 300mg in the morning and evening for a couple days before I went there so it was in the sweat. If you can't avoid them it MIGHT be worth a try for a week or two to see if it works (how ever long a bottle lasts).
It is anecdotal as studies suggest it doesnt work.
But try it yourself(b complex is good take take daily regardless)
And see how well it works.
Which reminds me I better start taking mine again lol

Nice backyard! I would assume that creek flows into the Rainy River. It should be an early season hotspot! Beyond that things could get tough if the water drops and gets too warm. Glad to hear you found a couple.
Yip Mike.
Where im fishing is maybe 1000 yards or so upstream
-
Wow that would be nice!
They are quite the nuassance
-
Praise his mom too!

Youve never had a woodtick?
Ive had thousands living up here.
30 a day is pretty common on an early summer bush excursion
Ive had 4 already. Many more too come
-
Especially finding out whats in there.
Thats the real fun part
-
Thanks man!
Yip we sure will!
Ill still be fishing rainy river/rainy lake/lotw. But its awesome to have this in your backyard.
Even if ya just have an hour you can walk down for a quick fish, thats awesome.
There is barely any current too so its a lil safer for the kiddos.
When we bass fish the rapids i have to watch the kids like a hawk lol
-
Some smaller minnow style cranks or spinners may get you some more of the small pike for fun. But there has to be a few bigguns in there.
We will find out!!!
-
So how was the fight of the century???
????

Fishing the rapids for bass. Felt a good bite and set the hook.
Called pike right away(since rainy river has very few musky)
Lame fight and up she comes. About 25" of glory hahaha.
Im all rigged for LOTW this year however. Cant wait to catch a decent one
-
All fish came on black grubs but the bigger pike, that was on a clown subwalk.
I hope its nicer tomorrow so i can get some pics. It was raining so no camera today which is a bummer. Really wanted a pic of my first fish outta there.
Im gonna put a picnic table and firepit down there
Wicked nice place to hang out and chill. Water levels are a lil low right now though the banks are super muddy

Pretty sweet backyard. It definitely has it's perks living up there.
What did you get today?
Im not sure how many chris but id guess about 15 pike, also caught one OOS bass and a few suckers.
Most pike were guestimate 20" but i did catch one good one around 30" before a storm rolled in
Man the wind was up and that lil river is soooo dirty. I hope it clears up abit

Sometimes the simpler meals are just as good or better then more intricate plates
