  1. im buying a boat off my buddys neighbor and i was just wondering about trailer plates and numbers on boats and stuff about ownership? or can i just slap her in the water? anything would be cool because ive never owned a boat before!

    1. What is the HP of the motor, under 10hp no registration required. Over 10hp, must be regisetered through Service Canada http://www.servicecanada.gc.ca/en/sc/boats...surecraft.shtml

    2. If the boat already has registration numbers, then the owner must give you the original form signed by him. You then take this to the Service Canada office in your community and change the registration. Service Canada does not collect the GST

    3. Check this link to know what safety equipment is mandatory

  2. I have for the past 5 years used fathers day as a time to reflect.. no presents (none that I asked for anyways.. but as always..), no cards, no hoopla... private quiet time for me... I spend quite a bit of time visiting Terrance.

I understand fully what you are saying and meaning. For me, I want to be left in private, so I can reflect back on things that were, and find solitude that I had the honour of knowing Lori for 25 years.

  3. If you really must use mono lines, I have had great success with Ande Tournament Green, and Maxima lines.

Both are superior to anything that Berkely offers. :blahblah1::blahblah1:

Have you given thought to one of the braided lines in 10 or 8# test? Both have a very small diameter. The 8# is listed as 1# diameter.

  4. Peter,

Contact the Toronto Police Services Marine Unit, I believe they still test and issue the harbour licences. I got my license in the 80's and I believe it was just a simple test based on the handbook issued by the Federal Gov't.

It could have changed by now, but the coppers at the unit will give you all the assistance you need.

    Good luck

  5. Cannot beat the Weber Smokey Mountain smoker. I know of many people of the competition circuit that use nothing but this smoker and have won several events.

Check out Lowe's in Newmarket, they have this weber in stock. You can also check out Ontario Gass BBQ in Concord Ont. Everything you could ever want for smoking Q'ing and grillin' Very knowledgeable staff that will steer you in the proper direction.

Check out this local site: http://www.bbqtalk.ca/ and this one http://www.barbecuebible.com/board/

    Good luck

  6. It seems that I'm not the only one who switched to Plano soft side bag and insert boxes. These boxes also fit inside some large soft side coolers. The nice thing is you do not have to take all your tackle and trip over the large boxes in the boat.

When heading out, just grabe a couple of the boxes (species specific usually) and your good for the day.

Smaller boxes also work for terminal tackle, leaders and other necessary items you need for the day.

  7. I never stuff a chicken or a turkey. Instead, I will fill the cavity with cirtus and herbs. One problem you may encounter is the bird is cooked to desired temperature, but the stuffing didn't reach temp, and can cause serious illness to your self and your guests.

When I do a dressing, I make it separately and bake it in the oven.

I like using, Wild Rice, dried cranberries, home made croutons, a small amount of orange juice and the zest of the orange peel, and of course herbs, rubbed sage, (not ground), fresh ground pepper, some thyme

    try this:

2 cups water or chicken stock

    1 cup wild rice

1/4 to 1/2 cup dried cranberries

    1/2 cup orange juice

zest on one orange ( just the orange part of the peel)

1/2 half loaf of day old bread, cut into small cubes and toasted in your oven at about 250 degrees until, dried and slight brown colour (use any bread you like, I prefer whole grain bread)

1 tsp each, rubbed sage, thyme, ground rosemary.

Bring to a boil, the chicken stock or water,

Stir in the wild rice, return to the boil, then remove from the burner, and allow

rice to absorb all the liquid.

Combine all ingredients, and put into a 9 x 9 cake pan and bake in oven for 40 minutes.

The nice thing about this recipe,is you can experiement and add ingredients to your likeing.

    Good luck, John

  8. When I was steelheading, like everyone else, I wore a vest and stuffed the pockets with all sorts of flys, leader spools, split shot, floats, etc. Must have weight 25#, and made me look three times around as I was. The extra weight on my shoulders was causing pain and discomfort.

I started wearing a fanny pak, and still use one to this day when perching.

    John
