Too late to make any sort of an impact though
-
I don't know about that. He had the option to sign anywhere he wanted a couple years back when he was a free agent. What did he do?
I would love to see him in a Leafs uniform, but not if they have to trade every prospect they have to get him in the summer.
When he signed promises were made and not accomplished. Not all what he thought it would be.He now wants out, even said so in a TV interview.Take it for what its worth, believe me or not but I can say with 100% certainty he would welcome a trade to Toronto.
-
Never believe the media, agents or even players during contract talks or trade deadlines. lol
It's called bargining in the media. Sure a star player will say he'd love to play at home, it's a bargining chip.
I agree but my certainty has nothing to do with the media.
-
So that's why my 7th row tickets on the blue line for the Jets/Lightning game on March 30th were ony $100 each including taxes and ticketmaster fees while the same ticket in TO would be $225.
GO JETS!!!!!!
Usually cheaper to fly to Florida, get a hotel room and watch a Leafs Panthers game than it is to see them in Toronto.
-
Maybe it's my typing---Harrison got it
I'm saying there's more than a few good players hailing from the metro area
Spezza---Tavares---Stamkos
Ahhh I do see your point.Ontario in general has always been the meca for hockey talent. The GTHL produces some great players and will for years to come.Unfortunately only a very small number make the big league.
-
You might not wish to take a census of Local Metro players in the league right now---it would be depressing
I would love to see that census or anything eluding to that fact please.
-
You sure? Why would any franchise player? Why come here get your game picked apart and get blamed when the media has nothing else to do with a crappy playing franchise. There is no one to blame but the coaching and brass when they suck at gelling the talent. I don't think a shortage of talent is a problem to atleast make the playoffs.
Highest grossing team in the league with the largest fan base. There is no excuse not to make the playoffs atleast. Fill the team with GTA players and coaches/brass. That would flip things around IMO.
Positive beyond a shadow of a doubt.I am not saying the Leafs are his only team or even his first team of choice but he does want to play in Toronto that I do know.
Highest grossing team has nothing to do with making the playoffs. With the cap in place all teams operate under the same restraints. With that said many teams are operating under those conditions andf thriving,Toronto is not.
-
Nash does want to play for the leafs.Dont get me wrong they need far more than Nash but as far as him wanting to come here it is a certainty.
-
Up Front---I'm not dumpin on em
The Leafs are a marketing machine---always that glimmer of hope given with endless possibilities
Unfortunately reality has not lived up with those glimmers
Like TSN putting the Leafs in the Rick Nash mix--etc-----But it is getting so militant with the fan base---bleed blue or die
It's getting like Monty Python-----Oh yeah---just a flesh wound
Maybe they should be more critical of their team as opposed to continous support mode--which in fairness is historically based as for a long time Canada had only 2 out of 6 teams to chose from
Like The Cats and Argos
So it was tradition----So Leaf Fans you may wish to ask yourself and the team----how long do you want to keep the status quo---can't blame Ferguson anymore and getting harder to take solice in a couple fruitless defeats of an Ottawa Team getting to be many years ago.
PS---I even picked a pro line last nite with the Leafs to beat Chicago
soooo?
Are you saying the Leafs were not in the mix for Nash?
-
Hockey news update on a sport channel, whatever
TSN... CNN yeah whats the difference.
-
What's great about the NHL is that you can cheer for any team you want.. It's only us diehards that continue to endure the punishment the Leafs dish out
Never mess with a Leafs fan we can take an amazing amount of dissapointment and punishment
-
Anybody see the exchange between Kypreos and doug mclean last night. I think kypreos was implying the Leafs roll there eyes when Wilson talks. Mclean said then its time the coach goes or the offending player goes. Time to open that final envelope Ron! (Old coaching joke)
dan o.
Couldnt agree more and if I were a bettin man my odds would be on Phaneuf and Wilson at odds.
-
Dead on! Wilson shows NO emotion at any time and its reflected in his players. THEY AREN'T READY TO PLAY! They're down by two goals every game then they try to play catchup. Game preparation is Wilson's job. Fire him!
Dan o.
Should of been gone before this.Kind of like closing the barn door when the horses are already gone. The new coach will need to be a miracle worker.
-
No, it was stated sens fans were like moths to a flame for following the laffs demise. I simply corrected the analogy as being more like flies on crap.
Mmmhhhmmm as you said sens fans are a bunch of flies attracted to schizen...carry on .
-
A smart hockey analyst would compare them straight up
Sens been back 20 years in the modern era
one final appearance and a president's trophy
Leafs last 20 years (to equal Sens franchise time )
Accomplished?? Beat the sens a couple rounds & ???? kept a team out of Hamilton for fear of being shown up by another Ontario franchise.
Yes another successful comparison
So you are saying neither has accomplished much in the last 20 years. You either win the cup or you dont.
-
Actually it's more like flies on .....well you know!!!
Bahahaha
So first you admit its all about the Leafs. Then state Leaf fans are dedicated. Then finish it off with Sens fans are just a bunch of flies.Boy cant argue with that train of thought.
-
TSN Kipreos ex laff
There are these channels on TV that talk about all current events .They are called News channels. Each locale usually has their own that focuses on local events.TSN is not a news channel is a Sports channel. Maybe thats the issue you are having ?
-
I am a die hard leaf fan, but lets be realistic.
They suck! They've proven this year (at times) that they can contend...but somethings just not working. Penalty kill is finally doing well, but right when that happens the team falls apart, go figure!
Goaltending...I don't even need to touch that subject.
All this hate on Alfie. I hate him, but only for that dirty hit on Tucker in the playoffs and same shift scores the game winner. You can't say hes not a good player. He may not have won any meaningful awards other than the Calder, but hes been consistent. Hate to say it but the Sens are just a better team.
Now, if we were to swap coaches...that could be a different story
There is no other team in the league that can go on such a slide when it counts and keep their head coach. I am not saying its Wilsons fault, but is it ever solely the coaches fault? Look at the majority of the teams out there who've fired their coaches this year. It is never solely the coaches fault, but the firing of a coach can really change a teams demeanor (didn't work for the Habs though
)
All in all I still feel the leafs can make the playoffs this year. They just can't afford to lose many more games (obviously). I will guarantee that the Sens will have at least one more breakdown this year, lose a bunch in a row, they key is the leafs need to start a winning streak of their own.
Is it sad that I still have so much faith in the team? lol
I dont hate him I think he is a good player just not an amazing player.Malkin is amazing,Lidstrom amazing.I aslo happen to think Phaneuf is a waste of a C so I am realistic.
-
Maybe--Captain of an eastern Canadian team to make the finals within recent memory or winner of Presidents trophy
Who was the leaf captain in 1967---the last time they made the finals
aka 45 years ago or 2.25x the years the Sens have been playing in the modern era
Springsteen sings it---"Glory days....they'll pass ya by..."
Would'nt bring up the obvious but the dedication is gettin kind of deep--soon in need of a shovel.
George Armstrong was the captain in 67 when they won the cup.Who was the sens last captain when they won the cup ??
-
Damn, I've been figured out!!!
LoL
How do I know what happens at the ACC you ask???
Because the laffs sucking dominates the news, it's all they talk about. It's almost better than watching the game itself!!
There could be a 20 game home win record going on and the laffs sucking would take precedence!
Oh wait, there was!!!
Bahahahahaa
You can change the channel on the TV you know, bypass that article in the paper. Better than watching the game itself....oh dont tell me you are also watching all the games, theres a shock. Moth to a flame moth to a flame.
-
Since you asked...
- 1995-96 – NHL All-Rookie Team
- 1995-96 – Calder Memorial Trophy
- 1995-96 – Played in NHL All-Star Game
- 1996-97 – Played in NHL All-Star Game
- 1997-98 – Played in NHL All-Star Game
- 2003-04 – Played in NHL All-Star Game
- 2005 – Elitserien Championship
- 2005-06 – Played in NHL All-Star Game, Second Team All-Star [16]
- 2006 – Gold medal at the Winter Olympics
- 2007-08 – Played in NHL All-Star Game, Starter to NHL All-Star Game, Guy Carbonneau Award for 'Top Penalty-Killer'[17]

Throw out all those All Star game stats as they are not taken seriously by anyone. He is a good player but really hasnt accomplished alot ,much like Sundin.

ya, praise KRUSTY, LOLOLOLOL
Man crush
-
If I could correct your assumption. It's not that the Sens (PRAISE ALFIE) are 11 points ahead of the laffs, it's all about the lack of points the laffs have and how bad they suck!
I think the laff fans should be commended for their wide spread dedication of a team that consistently sucks soooo bad they can't make the playoffs and haven't won a cup for over 40 years and it doesn't look bright for the future.
Now as far as booing a player from another team in his own rink, I guess if you have no team priorities and have nothing to cheer about in your own rink, they do what you have to.
Quite frankly, I don't think the laff fans know how to cheer no matter what rink they are in. They certainly don't cheer at the acc
Bahahahahah
So to summarize your post, its not about the Sens its all about the Leafs.Leaf fans are dedicated. Now your getting it !
How would you know what Leaf fans do at the ACC you couldnt get a ticket, all sold out !!
-
Perhaps, but until they stop sucking, we really can't argue when he says they suck.
And, they're sucking bad right now. I'm a die hard, true blue, Leaf fan and I can admit this.
Oh I admit it and have so for many years but that wont change a thing.I just get a kick out of the sheeple who when their team of choice are a few points ahead dont take time to rejoice, they get drawn back to the Leafs. They all seem to know what the GM is thinking, what he should do differently on and on and on.Same old drivel they are being fed by the media. Many NHL teams wish they had the following the Leafs have.Go to a Sens home game and listen to the chants of "go Leafs go" eclipse any attempt at a rally cheer by the couple of Sens fans. Hey it is tough for others to admit but Toronto win or lose IS the center of hockey in Canada. Get over it Sens fans, you will always be second to the Leafs in stature.
This time last year it was the Habs fans leaf bashing yet this year que the crickets.
Fire Ron Wilson??
