  1. Gilchrist Bay on Stoney. You can catch giant Sunny's off the dock at Pine Vista Resort or find some lilly pads w a bobber and worm and you will be busy. What I see coming out of Rice where I am is not worth the effort. Walleyeguy
  2. Everybody has a launching story, here's mine: I come back to the launch and see there is a 4 X 4 suv stuck, digging itself down, he has the floor mats under the wheels too and that's not working. Tried to direct him but nothing is workin. So I tell him to back up and get the boat off. He is able to pull out without the weight of the boat and trailer. We hitch his trailer to my manual transmissiion Subaru with 50:50 torque split (not rated for towing by the way). I back in, load the boat and pull out the rig (over the ruts) without a slip. He offered me cash but I gave him a Walleye for dinner and we parted ways....... Kawartha Guy
  3. Thanks Toots, Talked to hunter at work and he said if you want heavy-duty go to P-Auto. So I found a heavy canvas tarp, 15 X 20' for $210 online. I'll give it a shot next year. Kawarthaguy
  4. Gents, I buy the CT brand tarps on sale every year for my boat. They work OK but I guess the UV rays turns them into toast. Can anyone recommend a brand, store, marine dealer etc that sells a superior tarp? Thanks Kawarthaguy
  5. New fav is Fishin' w Joe. Just a real layed back guy and those knowledgeable assistants! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kYYkqsrRIKk&list=PL277EAABF200AFC95 Kawartha Guy
  6. Hey Shasta, In 2012 I did a lap around Rice Lake in Southern On and stopped in on every resport/ trailer park. Checked out pricing, amenities, owners, park layout, septic, proximity to good fishing, etc. At the high end was $5,000+/season incl waterfront site ($3,500 for non), conference facilities, restaurant, store, pool, etc. Large park (need a golf cart), lots to do, well run, nice owner, profitable. Trailer parking was in a field way out-of-view. Mid-range was $3,000+ for non-waterfront site, some amenities like pool, store, fish cleaning hut, freezer facilities. Each site was big enough to park your boat trailer - bonus! Nice owner - family run. Low-range was $2,500 for non-waterfront, no amenities, very small property - afterthought for trailers. Few trees, family run. Kawartha Guy
  7. I know that store and they will be seeing more of me............ Kawartha Guy
  8. When I said $200 diff for the Terrova I was talking about with the 54" shaft, 55lbs thrust and digital maximixer only. Some of the other features talked about on this thread would hike up the price on both motors. The MK site lists the features and the pricing is from LB: http://www.minnkotamotors.com/products/trolling_motors.aspx
  9. Hate to see the belt change hands on a split decision. KO, TKO or unanimous only but hey I'm old school. The champ deserves one wakeup call and GSP has been served.
  10. OK, I'm heavily leaning toward the Terrova right now based on the comments. In my research I did read about the faulty pedal and trickier deploy system with the V2. Well I guess I have more questions for the MK reps at the Fishing Show.
  11. Gents, I narrowed my search to these 2 elc motors. Both have the digital maximizer (battery lasts 5 X longer) and battery display, elec steering but the Terrova is $200 more. Any idea why? Better components? Thanks, Kawartha Guy
  12. Thanks for all the good info. At the very least I can keep the trailer clean and wax it.
  13. Gents, My new trailer is a painted one and not galvanized. Anybody rustproof their boat trailer? Kawartha Guy
  14. I was on Scugog on Saturday and had 2 bassmaster wannabees burn past me about 3 boat lengths away. They were watching me all the way and if I had caught something Im sure they would have come back to fish beside me. Mighty neighbourly.
  15. I have the Traxxis on my 12 ft and it does the job nicely. The Minn Kota battery box is also good with its quick connect terminals and easy carry handles. Kawartha Guy
  16. Frankie65, I noticed in your last photo there is what appears to be a free launch in the background. Can you share where that is on Scugog. PM if you prefer. Thanks. KawarthaGuy
  17. Sorry, I should have said Bucktail jig.
  18. Can anyone put me onto a custom bucktail guy KawarthaGuy
  19. Well I got stuck in my fav shallow ramp yesterday. Its so shallow that most people avoid it but with my 12 ft that I just push off and winch back up, no prob or so I thought. I drive a front wheel drive Toyota Matrix - standard transmission and the right wheel is spinning. So this is what I did: 1. Take the boat off. 2. Disconnect the trailer and tie it to a stump so it does not roll back. 3. With a lighter load I was able to drive out. 4. Back in again on a diff angle. 5. Re-attach the trailer, put the boat on and was able to pull the whole rig out. Some anxious moments for sure. I think my next car will be AWD! KawathaGuy
  20. I'm heading to Scugog tomorrow with the wife. Unfortunately my minnow guy was out of stock today so we'll see how it goes. Launching out of Sandbar park and plan to fish the weed flats north of Ball Point. KawarthaGuy
  21. Stopped by a few times b 4 and liked it. Heard the anthem and had to sign up! Mainly fish the Kawarthas (Tri-lakes, Bog, Rice, some Sturgeon). Have some good days and not-so-good but I guess that's fishing. Kawartha Guy
