Ya I've seen a handful of them over the last few years. One at a time. The sandbar has always been jutting out there but right now its all the way across.

thanks for all the replies. saw them in etobicoke creek but there were only 5. came back 15 mins later and only saw 2 of them there. the place where i've seen like 3 dozen concentrated within a 20 yard space and in 2 feet of water which was cooksville creek under lakeshore, was not possible this year. the mouth of the creek has a sandbar right across. the carp might not even make it in unless the water level rises. it didn't look like the water level was lower than usual so i was surprised to see the sandbar right across. and i've seen a couple of 'bows in this shallow creek before so it's a damn shame.

Where are the suckers now in the west end? Checked cooksville creek this morn but there is a sand bar at the mouth now blocking access.

Wondering if any of you have seen suckers in the rivers yet east or west of Toronto. Last weekend I checked Col. Samuel Smith park in Etobicoke, Etobicoke Creek, and Cooksville Creek in Sauga. Water was fairly clear in these shallow spots. Since it's gonna be nice this weekend, was thinking of taking my 2 British friends here on a 1 year visa out to catch their first fish ever and they are leaving in 6 weeks. Rather put them onto a fish with some weight than crappies. Trout is too time consuming and hard to catch for non anglers. Thanks.

Hey. Like the last guy just said it's pretty shallow there. I've only been in that area a couple of times when I was younger but not to fish and the good thing is that the yacht club is there and you might get some advice from someone there. If you do take a kayak or something like that just make the sea is calm, which it usually is. But since you can pass over some coral with a kayak near shore you MIGHT be able to find a decent fish preying on the small ones. And even if it's not big it is funny when you catch puffer fish which I have caught a few times in Mobay. I have also taken the skidoo out not all that far from shore, maybe 150 yds, and seen sting rays with 4 feet wing spans so I assume you could find some decent fish once you are close to the reef. This link from google maps I think shows potential from those waters but I wouldn't expect the fishing to be prolific. There's tonnes of small fish you can catch with shrimp and a hook but hopefully you get into some bigger ones. Montego Bay

I'm of Jamaican heritage and Jamaica is not great for fishing. Of the many many times I've been to Jamaica, I only fished a few times. I'm a semi-serious angler now. So I'm no expert. And as far as I'm aware a licence is not required. But like others said, you have to get out there to find good fish. But even when my friends went deep sea they only came back with a single cuda, which was a nice size. I've seen people fish off of boats in the black river which is basically directly south of montego bay but like an hour's drive. They have tour boats that take you along to see gators and birds and you may be able to troll off of it while going along. There are snook in the black river. I guess you should ask first any tour rep at the hotel. At the mouth of the black river where it empties it's very dirty (hence the name black river) and tonnes of marine life feeding there but I saw tonnes of commercial canoe fishermen not far off shore but have no clue if you can get someone to take you out in a boat there. That place is known for seafood so there's lots of good size fish there. When I was younger, going back to the 90s there were a couple of places with stocked ponds that were located up in the hills. Full of tilapia. You catch and they cook 'em for you. I believe they have closed. Not sure if that's your thing. If so then try googling for something similar. The place I went a few times was called Goshen. As for Mobay itself, fishing when I was younger from piers at hotels only produced small fish like 1lb and under. Mind you I remember catching half a fish as in a bigger fish (possibly cuda?) chomped on them while being reeled in so decent fish are there but limited. I remember being on a glass bottom boat near margaritaville. We weren't all that far from shore. The place that operates it has an office close to the right side of margaritaville. But this was well over 10 years ago. Anyway, I do remember seeing tonnes of marine life down there in the corals including turtles and fish. But my memory of this is foggy so no idea how big they were or what kinds of fish. The waters close to Margaritaville and the "hip strip" are very clear. I don't know if it's possible to negotiate with someone there to let you fish from one of their boats. Don't know if maybe that zone is protected? And one other idea is if any of the hotels have hobie cats you can have them take you out far and you troll while doing it. Doctor's cave beach is private and public. You can pay like 5 bucks to go in and their pier is probably still there? I have fished from there when younger but only got small fish. If you look at google maps and see this place called dump up beach and events park, that used to be a public beach we paid a few bucks to get into and they got those big rock piers jutting out into the ocean. the water is deep on the other side of those piers and i'm sure from time to time there could be decent sized fish in there. like parrot fish. Could still be a public beach for all I know. Wish I could help you out more. Hopefully you can do some research and find a charter for a good price not far from your hotel. Good luck.

I was playing a course in Brampton and while waiting for my shot I had a look at the pond. Saw a few small largies cruising back and forth. When the round was up I took the cart back to my car, picked up 2 retractables with some small lures and headed back to the 4th hole. It was dark by now. Ten minutes of fishing and we were hitting largies and rockbass one after the other. However, they were all half pound or less. I guess they never seen lures before. So... do you think all golf course ponds and those water runoff ponds in the middle of subdivisions are stocked with bass and maybe cats? They're there to regulate the water no?

Hi. I know they're easy to find in the spring in the rivers but what about fall? There's a guy I know from England here on a 1 year visa who had never been fishing before in his life. We happened to be in Rockwood 3 weeks ago and he caught a tiny rockbass for his first fish ever. We were gonna go to Guelph Lake right afterwards and do some real fishing but it poured rain. Since he lives downtown and has no car he can't get out fishing too often. On the weekend we went to Etobicoke Creek for salmon but only had half an hour to spare and that's too little time to find success. So to let him catch something that weighs more than an ounce and have a pretty good chance at it, are the suckers around in the fall or where do they go?

And tomorrow morn I'm driving from north Brampton across to Lake Wilcox in Richmond Hill and there's no NAPA in between. Any other ideas on where to get one? CT or BPS?

Hi. I got my new trolling motor (Minn Kota 30lb thrust) and new deep cycle battery. The manual for the troller says I should buy a circuit breaker to prevent damage. How necessary is this and how many of you use one with your trolling motor? Thanks.

I can still use the mount with duct tape while waiting for the parts to come in By destroying the mount then waiting for another I wouldnt be able to use my motor that whole time Sometimes the simplest thing is too complicated

True enough. Yet they want me to clobber the thing to prove its not functional anymore and then ship another one after I send them a pic. That aint worth the time either!

Thought you guys might find this interesting. Coleman is undoubtedly the #1 name in outdoor products. I called Coleman USA after my email went unreplied to and they said they don't have replacement parts for those tightening collars which probably cost 50 cents. They told me they'll ship me a whole new motor mount but first they wanted me to destroy mine with a hammer, take a pic and send it to them. Then they found out I'm in Canada so told me to call Coleman Canada. I did and they also don't have the collars. They said they would exchange the whole mount for a new one at the warehouse on Matheson. Of course when I get the new one, the same thing is going to happen as the damn parts are made out of plastic! Why wouldn't Coleman just ask the plastic moulding company that made the parts for some new ones? Sometimes I don't understand how businesses work.

Thanks for the advice. I bought the Nautilus from CT but there's a problem I didn't anticipate. The prongs on the wires from the trolling motor are much wider than the connections on the battery so it's hard to keep them attached. Was the battery supposed to come with wing nuts or something to hold the prongs in place on the connections?

Got the one from le barons and used it last night. There are 2 pipes on each side. One pipe slides in to the other and is tightened with tightening collars and screws. BOTH tightening collars broke as I was tightening them. They're made out of cheap plastic while everything else is metal or wood. Sevylor better send me replacements after I just emailed them. Cost me 93 bucks for that thing.

About how much does this Schumacher thing cost?

actually the guy at cdn tire showed me a $35 charger shown here that he says he uses for charging his deep cycle. said it's been working fine for him.

the refurb will be half since new will be $113 with the tax and add the environmental fee or whatever it is and it's gonna be over $120. plus the refurb guy says he gives a 12 week warranty. i'm thinking for $60 it's probably worth the risk.

Good idea or no? 2. I have this car battery charger in my garage already: Battery Charger Will this charge a deep cycle battery or do I have to buy a charger specific to deep cycle?
