Nope, haven't tried them. I did just get a brand new St. Croix Mojo Musky 7'6" Heavy Fast jerkbait rod though...Pretty sweet!

Hey guys, Yeah, I guess they did see some baits on Saturday! lol. I've been having a decent fall, but I haven't had the time to get out much unfortunately. We've been getting an average of 3-5 fish a day so far, hopefully that trend continues, but we'll see. 6 fish on Pigeon eh? That's pretty not too shabby! My best days out there have been 4-5 fish in the boat with a big one mixed in here and there. I'm looking forward to getting to fish the Kawartha's here into December! I'd def. like to post that pic of the 49" but I'm having trouble doing so. It keeps saying that the file is too large...I'm not that computer savvy, so I'm not quite sure how to get around that.

Hey Daryl. Nope, not out with Jay. Out with my buddy Daver. I haven't been out much lately either, but when I've got out, the fish seem to be cooperating. All our fish came on the moon though. 2 on the rise, and 2 on the set!

Nice fish man! We were out Saturday on Pigeon. Managed a 32, 42, 44.5, 49" and had a follow from about a 47" and lost another smaller fish. Everything we got was in less than 10 FOW though. I dunno if the fish have gone deep yet. Same story for us Sunday on Cameron. Few fish in the boat, saw a few more, everything was up shallow.

Sweet fish MO! Hopefully next year I'll be able to make it up there! Daver is talking about a possible houseboat rental style muskie hunt next year...might be interesting!

Hey man. Yeah, I'm sure I'm not catching the same fish over and over again. I have however, caught the same fish twice a time or two. I fish a variety of lakes on the Kawartha's, so the chances of catching the same fish multiple times are lessened. As I said, individual fisherman are going to have individualized results. For instance, I rarely fish water on the Kawarthas shallower than 13 feet. That might account for the larger average size.

I think that a lot of people's opinions on the size to population percentage will differ greatly, based upon indvidual results. According to my muskie logs over the years the percentage of fish over 40" I catch is 78%. The percentage of fish over 45" for me is 22%. Percentage under 40" for me is 48%, however, most of those are 38" or bigger.

Hey guys, Some interesting reading on this topic, and some very valid points! I've been fishing the Kawartha's for Muskie for about 9 years or so, and I've seen my fair share of big Kawartha's fish, up to 49.5" in the boat. I could say that I've seen a few over 50" here, either from follows, or lost fish, but who would believe me? lol. I'd say that a 50" is the benchmark for a 'trophy' muskie. As Pigeontroller brought up, I think a 47x24 is a much nicer fish than a 50x18. However, it's still not that magical 50". For my two cents, I'd say that although a mid to high 40's (45+) is a very nice fish, and might be approaching trophy status, it just wouldn't cut it until it reaches 50". Just my personal opinion.

For my money there is only one walleye jigging rod St. Croix Legend Elite 6'3" MXF, I've got a few of em, and love them to death! I've used a lot of other rods, and this one is by far my favourite. The Avid 6'3" MXF is nice too, if you can't justify spending $300+ on one rod.

Nice fish guys! It's always a bonus when you don't have to go far from home to crush some nice gators! I would put that 38" at about 12-14 lbs myself, but that's just from the photos.

Spring peepers are a dull green colour, and have a darker green, or brown 'X' pattern on their backs.

You're welcome. Fish and Wildlife and Natural Resources Law Graduate here...lol. So I should know.

Looks like a Scugog fish to me. They tend to be a bit lighter, and spottier than other Kawartha fish.
-
Wood Frog, and Gray Tree Frog respectively.

Awesome fish!

That thing would look really good on a quick strike rig in December!

Lots of eutrophic lakes in Ontario. As in all of the Kawartha Lakes.

Yeah, the fishing seemed a bit slow indeed. Happens though I guess. First time we've been skunked this year, hopefully that trend doesn't continue. The lake was quite busy, but it being the weekend and all, that is to be expected. Maybe we'll get a chance to fish it midweek. Looks soo good!

So... Fished Kash on Saturday. Concentrated more on the East end of the lake. Water temps were hovering around 71. Fished as shallow as 6 feet and as deep as 20. Covered a lot of water. We trolled breaklines, and through some suspended baitfish when we could find them; (most of the bait balls were about 20 feet down over about 40 FOW), casted weelines, shoals, and points, and even tried a little jigging. Pretty much threw every muskie lure ever invented, although between my partner and I, big blades were on about 60% of the time. The only place we had any luck was on flats that had cabbage on them in about 8-10 FOW. My partner lost a fish that I think was on the large side. We never actually got a look at her. She hit double 13's, a few big head shakes, and a good run, and she was off. And all we had to show for it was a tooth, and a little piece of gum on the front hook of the Cowgirl. Other than that, I had a follow on a similar flat from a tiny. That was pretty much our day. No fish in the boat, but I'm sure we'll be back to give it another rub.

Why they stopped making it I'll never know. The new Sonic Braid sucks.
-
Yeah, I just finished watching it actually, thanks to Syn's posted URL. They got a couple of good fish. Can't wait to try my luck!

Not a bad week at all fellas! Sweet 'skis. That last one was pretty thick!

True. I guess a few of the rivers such as the French, and the Pickeral are viable options for a small boat. However, a lot of other spots I've fished on the Bay for muskie (12 Mile, Point Au Baril, Big Sound) aren't really an option, as they can go from glass calm to dangerous in minutes.
-
I was wondering about the open water wanderes after looking at the charts. Lots of good looking spots with immediate access to deep water.
-
Good question! lol. I would if I could, however, the bigger waters tend to require more than a 14' tinner.
