  1. There had been a dirty little bait ban to try to stop the spread of VHS (no not the Punky old video cassette), but I'm not sure if that was enforced/put into play. If you aren't allowed to transport live forage fish, then what's the use of selling forage fish?

Transporting exotic invasives (gobies etc) live is a no go..

I can still remember the days where live crayfish were sold at tackle shops before the spread of those aggressive rusty gumbos.

  2. Jeremy Jeremy Jeremy. Shoulda bought the popup clam 2000 or trekker max lololololololol! I decided to rip in now instead! Lol buy a small homemade utility trailer and slap on a dirty hitch to that garbage-can, then u can bring any toy you want!

  3. Virtually all roe anglers will kill a female brown for their roe and many will just dump the carcass. Could be that. Browns are very fond of small thin twitch baits like small Rapala X Raps, Yozuri Hardcores and 3D Minnows, Lucky Craft Pointers and jointed Rebels and Rapalas

    X2 for the baits.

Sadly, I come across female browns that were gutted for their eggs and carcasses left many times. Makes me angry.

  4. I wanted to try Arrowhead but the websites for Parks Ontario are pretty confusing and I couldn't garentee that it was open. So my cousin and I went to the pinery. First day I hooked into a really nice Pike (probably around 5 pounds) and then the fishing died off. Second day the only hit either of us had was I pulled in a jumbo perch off of drop shotting a berkley power minnow. It was still a fun weekend complete with rip roring fires, the first snow of the year and Pumpkin Ale. But now its reeeallly getting me in the mood for ice fishing.

  5. unit is OK.. but I don't like using it when wearing polarized sunglasses

Yup to everything ah long said. Probably wont have the longevity as the lx-5 unit either IMO with the screen vs traditional bulbs.

I'm not hating on the unit, its great. I just feel the lx-5 (and most high end traditional units) are lag free readings even in super cold (if used properly and everything is functioning well) provide incredible target seperation with great battery life, and awesome features including zoom throughtout the whole water column.

I love Marcum LX-5 unit, (currently want to trade for an fl-22 ONLY for ultra shallow water purposes). This unit is built to last a VERY VERY long time without fail. That saying, nothing is without problems. Some people get lemons.

  6. You know I have that exact energizer I bought from Wally mart, in 2008, and it still works like a charm (outlasted my deka's!). Anybody know of a place which will give me cash for about 5 crapped out boat batteries?....I know u get core on trade in, but I just need to rid of the batteries. Anyways, it hurts to see that in the press, I assume it let you down when you needed it most!

  7. Hello, So I broke the tip on my avid, and was wondering if there was anywhere in specific would be a great place who will ship it out for me etc and charge a normal rate ? The st croix website looks like it'll be as expensive as buying a new avid almost ..... So anybody try jbs fishing depot, or angling specialties or???? Thanks!

  8. Well, I went out for a couple hours because I had been in the area with a buddy. The winds were HOWLING and seemed as though we got there right when the winds and clouds rolled in. Long story short, fishing wasnt very good (10 perch, all 6 inches lol).

BUT to the most important part: ICE!!!!!!!!!! There was a solid 5-8 inches around Stephensons point, and Port Perry towns boatlaunch same amount. Ice seemed a little thicker as we went out deeper.

So for those of you itching to hit the ice, shes there in Scugog, and its safe!

  9. Hey guy,

I have the navionics app for my iphone, but I was wondering if anybody can steer me in the right direction in getting this program in a weatherproof handhelp gps unit (I hate the thought of using my iphone out on the ice).

Or, is there anything which you guys could recommend which would be equivalent to a navionics program>?? I'm interested in using the unit for scopeing out ice fishing spots ahead of time, but also want to use it in the summer to locate the drop offs/rocks etc.

    Thanks!
