Yup, the anticipation is part of the thrill!!!

Looking forward to meeting daking_eh2007 and friend, as well as Lloyd, on Sunday...always good to meet board members!! Weather forecast is looking good as well, 21 degrees, clouds, 10 km SE wind...bring on those walleyes!!!!!
-
Out with Lloyd on Sunday...possibly a few hours on Rice Lake on Saturday. Back to work for a 1/2 day Monday
-
Just did a quick read and view of this before getting ready for work. Will definitely take the time later to savour it fully. Some really nice photos, including the rainbow shots, walleye gold, and (most definitely) the ones with the next generation of fisherman!!!
-
Finally took the five minutes to enjoy this post fully! Truly an adventure guys. Some beautiful specks, tough weather, hard work. Nicely done!!
A great read and some awesome photos.
-
Nice shot...once again proves that they are the most beautiful fish "in the swim"!!!!!

You'll have a good time for sure. Forecast for rain might be off by a day as it's only Tuesday but if it does rain, Lloyd's got you covered. I'd like to have made this one too but I need to be FARRRRRRR outta town on the Monday and it would only give me 3-4 hours sleep. I know you and Juli will have a good time....take lots of pics for us illiterate folks. I know that two more dudes will chime in cause this is too good a deal to pass up.
There will definitely be lots of pictures with Juli there...she takes about ten for every one I do. Usually I'm too busy fishing
As far as having us covered, saw the boat in your pictures, very nice rig!!
Anybody else interested should definitely PM Lloyd...an amazing deal for a day of Quinte walleye!
-
Juli and I are really looking forward to getting out with Lloyd on Sunday...calling for some showers and a bit of a breeze, so hopefully some good walleye conditions. Will be fun regardless!! Looks like two spots still open according to him in the hook up section.
Was going to take my boat out on Sunday on Scugog, but, couldn't pass up this opportunity!! Besides which, it will be alot more comfortable fishing out of Lloyds boat than my 14 foot aluminum in the rain
Looking forward to learning some new trolling tricks!

LOL!!
All fish were a team effort!
Without us all working together, we wouldn't have caught a single fish!
It's amazing how many things you have going on when targeting Bay of Quinte Walleye's!
A little different than ice fishing!
That's a great politically correct answer, Jamie!!!!! LOL!!!
-
Way to go Jamie, figured you guys would do well...it definitely helps being on the water more often and being able to put together those winning patterns.
Congratulations on the win...who got the big fish...I'm guessing Hodgey?!

Some awesome pike, Steve!!!!1 Nicely done!
-
Tried out the Arbor today, no problems...felt good in my hands, handled the braid beautifully...unfortunately the lake we tried has definitely suffered from way too much catch and keep over the years...not one walleye caught. Pike and perch and even those were few and far between.
Hoping for some more success at Scugog next week.
At least it was a gorgeous day to be out on the water!!!!!!!
-
Some beauty fish, Steve!!!!!!!
-
What about the Shimano Voltaeus? Not sure if it is just hype, but, everybody seems to be pushing them...similiar qualities to an Ugly Stick around the same price. Strange color choice, though.

Was there a tag on the rod that says what guides they are? Wondering if they are recoil guides?
edit: probably not. I'm thinking aluminum oxide.
Durable stainless steel guides designed for today's superlines...is the write up for them. All in all looks like a decent combo for the money...I will let you all know how it performs for me this week and more than likely next week on Scugog.
-
I picked one up today at crappy tire. The guides looked cheap on the rod, but on closer inspection they are stainless steel guides with titanium inserts. The rod is a Pfleuger 6.6ft 2 pc, IM8 with the split handle. Looks like a good rod for jigging eyes and finicky smallies. I will try it out tomorrow morning. I am going out to put some 8lb stren mono on it right now. Cheers.
The guides should be fine...I'm trying mine out tomorrow as well...spooled up with 20 lb braid. Trying out a lake that I used to fish years ago...hoping she still has some "gold" in her.
-
IM8 rod too you say? That sounds like a great deal for $90.
This looks like the combo http://www.canadiant...o.jsp?locale=en
That's the one...only drawback is you don't get an extra spool buying the combo...but the reel retails for almost $80 on the Cabelas US site. The spool also has rubber inserts that supposedly make the use of backing line not necessary when spooling with braid. Looking forward to trying it out.
-
Thanks, looks like I'm getting a new walleye rod...
That is exactly what I'm going to use it for...
-
what rod is with it?
Came with a 6' 6" medium action IM8 graphite rod. Only one in stock at the CT around the corner from where I work...they never have much, one of the smaller ones in Kitchener.
-
Sub $90 for the combo as in a rod too? I thought it was going to be $70 USD reel from an ad I had seen... Damn paperboy missing tonight due to the rain...
Yup, rod and reel...picking one up first thing this morning.
-
I picked one up last month and have been using it on my Mojo tube rod no problems yet.I have 10lb power pro on it and I got my first 6lb smallmouth with this reel. Nice smooth drag.Casts great. Nice rubber pads on the spool for the braided line. I've also got 2 of the Supreme's and there a great reel too(2 years of use)not a problem. How much are they going on sale for?
Rob
Looks like $89.95 for the combo. Haven't heard anything bad about it yet...I'm looking for a decent braid spinning reel, this might be it.
-
Wondering if any of you guys and gals have tried this reel...supposedly awesome for braid and flouro...wide, short spool, the combo won best in show at ICAST last year....and it is on sale at CT next week.

If you are referring to the hockey game, which I think you are, that makes two of us!! Well, almost...once again, I hate to say it, but, full marks to the Habs...a certain masked man is another step closer to a Conn Smythe trophy.

Fantastic report...informative, and, entertaining!!!!!

The weather is looking great for Sunday...cloudy with sunny periods, 10 km SE winds. Fingers crossed for some walleye gold!
See you bright and early, Sunday morning.
