Going for my first musky ever this weekend also on the kawarthas! Starting with musky inline bucktails and spinnerbaits. Not specifically looking for giant fish, just want to get that first one under my belt.

Been looking forward to this weekend for months, as I specifically booked Sunday off work. Hoping for a birthday present with long sharp teeth,

Forgot the plug... realized it when I was in 100' of water in good ol lake Ontario! Boat was filling with water and a scary rate!!

Yup...guilty of that one as well...launching at Old Cut on LPB. Fired up the motor started rigging up, looked down...said HOLY BLEEP...fumbled for the plug, switched spots with Juli...she weighs just over half what I do and has way smaller fingers!!!

Lots of bailing followed...man, did I learn my lesson that day.

What is the opening date for musky fishing in the Kawarthas this year? I heard it might be extended it was always the first Sat. in June but I heard it might be a week earlier so is it already open? I can't seem to access the MNR fishing site to check does anyone know for sure?

LOL...spam, nothing...can't believe four people haven't snapped this up already. Anybody wanting to get out for a fun day of fishing with a knowledgable guy for an extremely reasonable price, don't hesitate. I already said if it wasn't for aching to get out with my own boat for musky opener, I'd be there.

Nothing wrong with those fish!! Sometimes you just have to adapt or change patterns when the "biggies" aren't co-operating.

Awesome, Aaron...that is what it is all about, passing it on to future generations!! I don't have any children of my own, but, Juli's three boys (ten year old twins, and an eleven year old) all come out fishing with us every once in awhile. They are at that critical age where you don't want to force them to do it. I find that talking about fishing, showing them photos of our fishing trips, or watching the odd fishing show will get them pumped and asking "when are we going fishing again, Frank?"

Nice report...those perch and walleye look great, but, man...sitting here at work winding up for the day on a Sunday, that beer looks even better (and I don't even drink much) LOL!!!

Surprisingly, Walmart actually carries some Northland bucktails, but, your local tackleshop will have the selection of colours and sizes you should look for.

Too funny...I picked one up new in the package about eight years ago for $5, at an antique, used store in Cambridge. They work really well for Huron rainbow off the piers, but, for that money, I can buy an awfull lot of little Cleos that work almost, if not, as well.

Done!! Like the use of the Jaws theme and Jump. Made for some good, lunch at work, viewing, lol.

Some great photos, Dan!! Wow, wish Erie would have looked like that the weekend we went looking for pike about a month and a half ago!! Going to get out on the bay with the kids once bass season opens up.

It's pretty sad to see people blatantly tearing them off the beds. Saw a few boats on the reservoir in Woodstock yesterday, fishing right in the bass spawning beds. Supposedly targeting pike.

These same people will be the first ones to cry when there are no bass left.

It was nice meeting you guys and gal lol and enjoying a day on the water. It sucked with that crazy weather yesterday but today was perfect.It was a great day going 16 for 24 and a 14 lb drum to boot. And Wayne im not getting older im holding at 45. no click at 12 lol

Nice going, and, wow on the 14 lb drum!! It didn't suck, anytime on the water is great!!! If you are holding at 45, then I'm sticking to 44, LOL!!!

Pretty sweet, something you will remember for a lifetime!!!

Yup...that was a HOLY CRAP, Oh my God...fish, all the way!!!!! Much as I am loving the softwater fishing, and getting my boat out (come on musky opener!!!!!!!), I can't wait for the hardwater season again!

That old guy is gonna hear a big CLICK around midnight and have a harder time getting up in the morning!!!!

Speaking of the "old guy"...yeah, tomorrow is his birthday (couple of weeks before mine). Happy Birthday, Lloyd...hope you and your brother's group had a great day on the water today!!!!

Thanks, Wayne...tough day on the water overall, but, still great results. Lloyd and I agree, it isn't all about numbers of fish. It is the total experience. I know it was frustrating him to not be able to get the group more (especially when we were marking them), but, compared to some of the others on the water our numbers were very respectable. Anybody that hasn't been out with Lloyd, don't pass up the opportunity. My shamefull plug, LOL...seriously though, he will treat you well. Loved seeing and hearing about his ice fishing excursions, as well. I got the "hardwater bug" big time this past winter. The laker he caught through the ice was amazing!!

Headed out with Lloyd, aka Fishhunter/Machete Man/The Pirate Captain, on Sunday May 23rd for some May 24 weekend walleye. The weatherman was calling for sun/cloud and highs of around 25 degrees (more like bass fishing weather) with winds of 10-15 km S-SE.

Arrived at Picton Harbour around 5:30 am and waited for the rest of our party to arrive...daking_eh2007 (Nestor...hope I spelled that right!!!) and Romeo. Shortly thereafter the boys arrived, so Juli, Lloyd, they and I headed out into "the Bay"!!

After a short boat ride Lloyd started setting up the baits.

The waiting began, as Lloyd says..."walleye, the hurry up and wait fish"!

The three of us guys decided to be chivalrous, so we let Juli have first turn. Here she is playing the first walleye of the day.

Romeo added another, which turned out to be the last fish of the day. Tough conditions, with changing weather and fronts going through all day. The other skippers we were in contact with had about the same results. Juli and I had a great time out on the water and taking home four nice eaters was bonus.

Just wanted to thank Lloyd for an awesome day out on the water! Also thanks to Juli for the first half of my birthday present...nothing better for me than getting out on the water. Lloyd treats his guests with respect, and, works damn hard to put them on fish. Hope to have the opportunity to get out with you for some salmon/trout, Lloyd!!!
