  1. Well I hope that we can make it this year it is a better time for us but it depends on how the weeks before make out as I am trying to head to Ottawa the week before if I do then it might be tight for getting out to this event.

Either way I will get some of my baits there for the prize table.

Hope ya can make it Mike your baits will be greatly appreciated :thumbsup_anim:

  2. Never been to the area, so no gas powered motors allowed? Do you pay for a fee to enter or is it pledges only?

It is electric only but for this event only they let us leave gas motors on they have to be trimmed up and you can't use them for any reason. There is a entry fee to the park I think its $10. Its a reaLly fun day and a great cause hope to see ya out this year.

  4. Spoons in general are my favourite lure for pike, hands down!

The Dardevle's are a standard, got dozens of the 1oz models in my basement in a variety of colours.

I remember years ago guiding at Kesagami, the 1oz Red and Yellow weedless Daredevle was lethal. It outfished everything..

The small Daredevle Imps are still a favourite of mine for speckles, great lures.

So far this winter I've been stockpiling, and tweaking, a whole bunch of my favourite spoons.

Ordered a whole whack of chrome coloured 11/8oz Johnson Silver Minnows.

Painted them with a translucent automotive "black chrome" finish. Man do they look deadly! Then I added a black skirt to bulk them up a bit (slows the drop in shallow water) and a trailer, and VOILA, an oversized pike slaying Moss Boss. :)

In addition I just got a shipment of 41/2" Doctor spoons and KB spoons in a variety of cool colours. For me at least there are no better spoons for pike!(I think they've been around longer than Daredevles as well).

A lot of the areas I fish are weedy so I've replaced the stock trebles with 2/0 weedless trebles made by Mustad. Can't wait to fish those puppies. :)

As well I have a box of salmon spoons in a host of wild colours that pike seem to love. The beauty of the salmon spoons is they're light enough that you can flutter them over the tops of the weeds. Something that's hard to do with a standard spoon...

Another old standbye that I stocked up on recently is the 41/2" Lucky Strike Half Wave. Great, great lure.

I've actually painted some of my silver Doctor spoons with the same Half Wave patern: white on one side with a series od red slashes..

    They'll be lethal too.

Got a bit sidetracked here it seems, but I do love my spoons. :)

That's a great idea on the silver minnow do you have to scuff them up for the paint to stick would love to try a frog pattern I usually just throw a 4-5 inch pink or chartreuse grub on them nevr thought to custom paint them.

  5. I'm with Dave on this one! now I remember why I havnt posted for so long Grimace! truth is I get paid by a lure company-the one i own! not Live Target, I happen to be a fan of lures that work for me LT is Canadian and makes a quality product , there are lots of really good lures out there, I'm just stating my experiences as an angler, I dont consider myself a celebrety but I am a guy who has been successful fishing competitevly, so I use lures that I feel give me an edge, thing is for every Grimace there are lots of really nice people on this site, many of which I have met, . Hi Chris-nice to hear from you, and glad the swimmers worked for you , we are waiting for packaging -othewise they will be ready this spring, say hi the family for me! see you soon. Mark

Very well said Mark I can't wait to try those swammers I am not sure why guys feel the need to target people that are more succesful than they are I'm sure they are just jelous that they can't be succesful in the fishing industry I know I am LOL

  6. Skinny your TM is to small for your boat so it will take a lot of juice to run it if your CTC battery is 1 year old take it in and have it tested if it is OK and your still killing it your gonna have to upgrade the TM I have had a 40lb on a 14' and it was not enough I would go with a 55lb on a 16' atleast but you will get days worth of use with a 24v 65lb TM it will be a bit more $$$ but it will save you a tonne of hassle if thats not in the cards get the strongest battery you can afford look at Roys link from the other thread.

  7. Hey Grimace,

Comments like this my friend is why less and less pro's are posting on this or any board! Thanks for reminding me not to post fishing info on a fishing board that I have been a member of and supported in MANY,MANY ways for years!!!

NO don't let the negative nacies bring you down Dave LOL (I'm just teasing Grimace)

  8. i just bought an energizer battery for my truck last friday at walmart.

the manufactered sticker on it was 01/11. :dunno:

Just looked yesterday and my local walmart had no energizer at all only everstart they were at the Toronto show mabye your wallyworld still has a few left pretty sure they are just re-labelling them the look exactly the same other than the labels anyone know the whole story gonna google it right now .

  9. The energizer batteries are no more at walmart the are now called everstart but are the same thing I beleive they are IMO the best bang for the buck at around $100 and they last a long time. if your TM is a 36v than your looking at $300ish +tax for everstart or $700ish + tax for optimas
