  1. Just want some feed back to make sure I have my arse covered here.

I have a 14 foot tinny and I'm putting a 50# thrust trolling motor on it.

Since I don't want to wear my life jacket I assume I need to follow the rules for a Sail and Powered Please Craft up to 6 M.

If I understand this correctly I need :

A life jacket for everyone on board.

A bailer (I'm buying the $9.99 kit from CTC comes with a whistle and a bouyant line)

    A bouyant heaving line.

    A water tight flash light.

I also plan on having two home made anchors and a paddle, even though I don't think its required. (again, if I understand correctly)

Let me know if you guys have any suggestions? Or if I misinterpreted the rules.

  2. Awesome deal!

I got a sweet deal similar on another fishing forum.

50# Minn Kota & marine battery for $100!

Usually people lie about the condition... I believe this guy when he said he's had it in the water once!

Sometimes you get great deals online, sometimes you deal with jerks.

The good deals always make it worth it! :clapping:

  3. Met a fellow OFC'er Rob D. @ the welland rec canal. He wasn't liking the looks of the wind. So we hit up the other side and went searching for some Dain City pike.

Most of the day was spent trolling both banks up and down. Most of our fish were caught on the walleye harnesses made by Rob. We were putting minnows on the hooks and trolling behind the boat with some splitshot.

I landed a rock bass, catfish, and there were a couple oos smallies.

But after some presistance I got what we were out for :

Was a great day and met a cool dude. Look forward to some more fishing missions soon!

  4. Funny that this thread and such answers has came up.

I came back Toronto on Tuesday.

I was there to escort a "client" of mine (Community Living) to an Orthopedic Surgeon's appointment Dr.Nizrad Mahomed, at the Toronto Western Hospital for a consult on a total knee replacement(due to severe arthritis)... His surgery is scheduled for the 23rd of this month... I'll be escorting him again to translate and comfort him, during surgery "patient must be concious" :blahblah1: :blahblah1:

He ended up with a Rx for Synthetic Marijuana THC pills "Marinol" or the option of "Medical Marijuana".

He chose the "MJ" since he's been self medicating for the past 15 years...He's 66.

    Randy

    :canadian:

Marinol is amazing! I'd quit smoking if I could get a legitimate prescription. I just need to find a more progressive doctor in the niagara region. I'm currently using a very VERY expensive drug (NEXIUM) to prevent my acid reflux symptoms.... street drugs are cheaper believe it or not.

  5. Unfortunately that is your only real option. My lab does some research on osteoarthritis and it is progressive so not much you can do about it in the long run. Despite what you might read, there is no cure or really effective treatment other than joint replacement.

Medical grade weed is supposed to be effective, but you need to talk to you doctor about that one. It does relieve pain.

In no way do I think it would cure his issue, but at least life would be manageable with no pain. Talk to your doctor if you are just "living" with it and doing nothing to treat the suffering!!! :stretcher:

  6. Be careful with Celebrex. It is a very effective product and works well for me, but my doctor says you can only take it for 18 months before it can cause heart failure. I'm learning how to live with arthritis!

You should try some green...fisherman! :thumbsup_anim:

  7. I used to guide on rice lake and the americans used to come up with their 10 meter poles with 20 feet of 20 pound line a float and hook with worm or maggot , float goes down lift pole swing into boat take off fish rebait and back into the weeds it goes , no reel , at first I thought they were nuts but it works . They allways out fished me with my rod and reel , dont knock it if it works . but not my kind of fishing etch to their own ..

For sure! Its neat and I'm interested to try fishing with a cane pole (just for matches).

You chum a little area, then just place your bait exactly in that spot. As for fishing for fun I'd much prefer casting and retrieving.

  8. Sounds to me like you got a bad case of pole envy.

Hahaha. It was my first match.

We had 30 mins to setup our gear. Took me about 2 mins to tie a hook, squish on a splitshot, and open a can of corn....

The rest of the time was spent starring at all these guys with all this gear!!!!

  9. Got off work on May 23rd around 3PM in the afternoon. Rounded up the dogs and packed up the van. By the time I got the rest of the family and everything was settled we were there about 7:30 PM.

We joined family at a different cottage across the bay for dinner... I was able to sneak in 10-15 casts with my 5 of diamonds but no luck. Albeit I've never fished off her shore before.

Put the little guy to bed, and was able to relax on the dock. The first night we managed to land a couple of small cat fish and more rock bass than you can count. I even reeled in to go use the out house but I set my rod on the dock. The worm was dangling above the water a good few inches. A hungry rock bass actually jumped out of the water and hit it twice....hooking himself on the third strike. If my brother-in-law wasn't there I would of been swimming for that rod! :thumbsup_anim:

I made it out in the Lund twice on Monday once in the morning and once after dinner time. Mark was using worms and I was trying everything under the sun. I got two follows from some HUGE pike on a double willow gold/silver 1/2OZ glimmer shad. No idea on how big these guys were. But they would follow me from the shore to the boat but turn away the second they were near. After reading fishin 24/7's post I figure I should invest in some of the realistic swim baits to turn those followers into commitment!!! :Gonefishing:

I spent the rest of my time casting off the front dock and just enjoying the beautiful weather with my family.

I forgot my camera when I was with people as it was all about spending time with family, but here's a few shots I managed to snap...

Early morning canoe ride with the little guy:

    dscf1025s.jpg

View off the back of the island just after dinner time:

    dscf1038f.jpg

Only time I had a camera while fishing :

    dsc06600.jpg

And I was by myself... She was too lively to even bother taking measurements or weight, plus I figured I had to snap at least one picture since I was telling everyone about how awesome the pike fishing is in Parry Sound!

I'll be heading back up soon with my re-furbished Spirngbok and this time I will definitely be bringing some life like swim baits!

  10. A Title Search if done correctly will tell you a heck of alot more than what TZ or Irish have said.

The buyers lawyer undertakes a title search at the land registry office in which the property is situated. An existing survey, if available is normally requested, before the title search. If in land titles the search involves all current information concerning the property as shown on the parcel register. In registry the search is for a period of at least 40 years, and involves an examination of the chain of title describing all transactions as well as any gaps, errors or missed parties.

In both instances the lawyer is looking for items such as outstanding encumbrances, restrictive covenents, and matrimonial home status. The lawyer will also investigate ajoining lands to ensure compliance with the Planning Act. The date of the search is recorded in anticipation of a sub-search at point of closing.

Then the lawyer will search various non-title records including but not limited to, zoning(to ensure that the present use conforms to zoning by-laws. Work orders, executions, unregistered easements, status of real property taxes including any special assesments, survey documentation concerning setbacks, encroachments and related matters.

I believe you are just talking about Irish only. :whistling:

But I appreciate your input, it is more through than Irish's information. My lawyer told me face to face he does the basic search with the city and if nothing comes back red they purchase the insurance and sign it over.

But no one ever said lawyers are honest... :clapping:

  11. lol

"what.. the septic isn't to code nor is there anything on the health department books that it exsists"

That's the same as someone else property existing on your property.:sarcasm:

Encroachment is something completely different than your experience...

    We'll see what happens!

I'm at home now and I can relax, lol. :good:

I'm over it, sorry if I came off as an ass...

  12. Strokes another one off his invite list..

Cliff, I sure hope it goes as smooth as TC thinks it will.. but you let us know how many nights sleep the "kids" lose over this and what it costs in the end!

I wish my lawsuit was as simple as someone having their structures built on my property.

If the city says its not their property and its off their property line, then they have nothing to complain about.

If it is their property, then title insurance WILL cover them. That's what its there for.

Feel free to take me off your invite list. Title Insurance is a general term and I know you didn't read their policy, nor do I think you've actually read any title insurance document. Now you do understand what a title search is, I'll give you that.

I don't offer my opinion when I don't know something... Sorry.

    :blahblah1:

Sorry Wayne! When a home purchase goes bad and you have to learn all these rules its not fun.

I speak from first hand experience, just wanted to make sure people weren't misled.
