  1. Thats one gorgeous pike you got there...you sure the pike "gave birth"? I thought pike were egg layers as opposed to live bearers... Good fish though. Tight Lines, Fishingitis
  2. Well the devils, pens and caps were already on the top of the contender list to begin with...the Kovalchuk trade completely skipped my mind but other than that I dont think the Pens and caps have added anything spectacular to their already annoyingly awesome line up...A little depth but nothing that gives them the ultimate edge IMO. Even though the leafs did crap..I'm hoping that they go on a tear in the next 10 or so and get out of last place just to spoil the Bruins chances of getting the 1st overall..
  3. Whitney an Oiler?!! Fitting end to one of the most boring trade deadline days since I got hooked on hockey. Did any of the current playoff contenders get any stronger?? What do you guys think? Also..dont mean to poke at the leafs but who's left on the the team other than Kessel, Phaneuf and Kaberle??
  4. The day has been preeeeety darn boring IMO..only surprise thus far is the wolski trade to Phoenix... I feel a huge storm coming in though...one hour remaining and I'm curious to see where Ray Whitney is headed to and if SJ will do the unthinkable and trade away their numero uno goalie Nobakov for Roloson... Sadly i have a class to go to and will miss the final half hour... Hope BM doesnt make any silly trades for the Sens.. Cheers!
  5. Giant amazonian arapina on top water lures...chunky baramundi...the great indian masheer......hopefully i will have pictures of me with at least two of the three in the next three years....
  6. Greetings oh wise and knowledgeable Fisher folk of OFC! 5 days till the bass opener and I'm sure that most of you have the coming Saturday and Sunday booked for a fun day on the waters..tis supposed to be good weather too... I can't wait that long for another fishing fix so I'm hoping to head east to the Bay of Quinte on Tuesday for another attempt at the trophy walleyes that everyone has been posing with in their BOQ pics....hoping to put at least 9 to 10 hours on the water compared to the 4 measly hours of my last trip ... I know that there is a Marina on Big island where I might be able to rent a boat for the day but thats a good 2 hour drive from Scarberia and so.. I was wondering if any of you guys knew of places in Trenton or Belleville that rent out boats for the day.... Also I will most likely be fishing Lake Joseph in Muskoka over the weekend and was wondering if any one has fished this lake and know if the bass/walleye/pike fishing is decent....I will be fishing with a Priest so I know the fishing is gonna be good...Just need to know what to be prepared for.. Thanks in advance for all the info! N
  7. Holy Wow that's alot of info...Muchas Gracias! Haven't got a chance to read it all yet but will do so later tonight.. A miilion thanks to every one for all their input... Cheers! N
  8. Dang do i love this site! I'm just quickly checking the replies from the office and will send a proper reply later tonight but just wanted to thank every one for their recommendations Tight Lines! N
  9. Posted this one in the dang classified too... Anywho.. Two more days till the lunge opener!! I'm too freakin excited that I can't sit in the office without running down to the Rideau River and Canal every couple of hours hoping to spot a lunge for the warm and fuzzies...Anyways, I recently bought me one of the new bass pro shops xps power plus medium heavy rods as a graduation present and am really looking forward to the first cast... My current lunge arsenal is sparse and includes a Storm kicking minnow, a luhr jensen giant spoon and a couple of spinner baits (which i'm not to keen on using since I am still inexperienced in catching musky and i've heard that break offs involving spinnerbaits usually ends up killing pike and musky)...I've had most of my heart stopping chases involve 4 inch tubes but i dont want to use those either since the giant largies are all over the place right now... I've got a $40 budget to blow on Musky lures....What would you Musky pros purchase if all you had was $40 to spend..... Also, any one out there fishing the Rideau on Saturday?!!
  10. Posted this in the classified discussion area by mistake...Thanks Kickingfrog for alerting me on this and on your advice too! Since boats are too dang freakin expensive, I'm lookin into buying a canoe and need some help from you expert outdoorsmen :Dbiggrin.gif I'm hoping to get a fairly stable canoe that would be easy to portage with and fish from (including netting fish without tipping the canoe...almost happened..ze girlfriend was not too impressed...the 8 pound laker made me care less ;)wink.gif ..) I've been told that the length of the canoe for portaging purposes is based on the height of the carrier...is this true?? if it is, i aint the tallest bloke ..just 5'6.. Also, my gal will be the one doing most of the paddling/steering whilst I fish :)smile.gif . Any tips would be greatly appreciated.. Tight Lines! N
  11. I've tried stale timbits and they float pretty well for a good while...have had two carp on them but had to wait for a looooooooooooooong while.....I've heard that marshmallows float and are pretty decent too....
  12. What series have you been watching?!?!? Detroit has completely shut them down, and dominated both games. Now now now...I'm totally rooting for the wings but I don't think you can say they dominated both games...they had their periods...and they won both games cause they capitalized on the pens mistakes which was AWESOME!!...They are definitely gonna have to up their game for the two road games....They are allowing way too many shots at Osgood even if they aren't well screened.....Surprised the mule dint score tonight (how i wish he was a Senator...sigh!)....Wings in 5!! Cry baby will always be a whiny b!@T(H....the guy needs a little bit more off ice/camera presence or charisma...I blame Cherry!! Should Abdelkader's goal tonight be considered the new pitsburgh floater?! I guess it aint as good as the original...if you guys haven't noticed yet, I have a huge hate on for Crosby and Fleury.... Go Wings! N
  13. Also..Nice fish splashhopper and botbot!!
  14. Question for you carpers...Is chumming for carp with corn legal?? I've seen them do it on some of the fishing shows but wasn't sure....Some people i meet say its illegal some say its legal...whats the word? Nigel
  15. So i'm back in Ottawa and really wishing i was back on the bay....I din't get to do too much fishing since i was once again the only fishing nut in the group..Anyways here is the report .. Fishing wasn't too shabby considering it was our first time on the bay. Trolled bottom bouncers/worm harnesses early Saturday afternoon and hooked into 4 really small eyes (a pound each) in an hour and a half of fishing. Went out again later in the evening and tried jigging and casting cranks by the green buoy on the east side of big island on the way to telegraph narrows (not sure what its called). Anyways, we dint get a bite but saw a couple of boats trolling by us net some nice eyes. Sunday was really choppy even though it was a perfect day to be out fishing. 45 minutes of trolling cranks resulted in a nice 3.5 lb eye by my buddy M..Wish I had more time on the waters...Till the next fishing trip! Tight Lines! Nigel
  16. I dont have too many worm harnesses but will give them a try as well...we are gonna be four of us fishing so will get to try as many lures and methods as possible. Thanks for the tip! Tight Lines! Nigel
  17. Thanks for the tip! Tight Lines! Nigel
  18. Thanks for the warning HH. Will watch out for the wind and waves. Got a couple of cranks that i'm looking forward to try. Will post a report on the fishing on Monday. Any idea how deep the small inlet on the east side of Big island might be and if its a decent spot to drift in if the weather is too windy to fish open waters Tight Lines! Nigel
  19. Hi there, My name is Nigel D and I'm a newbie on the site. Don't know why i haven't come across this site before but any who...Thought it would be the perfect place to exchange tips for successful fishing on certain waters...I usually fish the Rideau canal and river for bass, walleye and muskie but am venturing into new waters this weekend...The walleye anglers paradise - The Bay of Quinte... Its gonna be my first time on the Bay and i am really psyched to see what all the fuss is about...Any tips for a newbie?? I will be doing some night time shore fishing from the North East shores of Big Island and will have access to a small boat during the day. I am equipped with some decent trolling gear (8&9 foots MH trolling rods that i am yet to use in Canada, Mini planar boards, dipsey divers, a few crank baits, spinner rigs). Unfortunately, i will not have a depth finder or gps which i understand will make fishing on the bay a little more trickier than usual. Any suggestions on whats hot on the Big island shores of the bay at this time of the year will be greatly appreciated. Tight Lines!!
