I'm here on my blackberry staring at this school of fish. I'm not sure if they're trout or carp or small pike, but there's about 12 of them.
I can't get a close enough look at these fish, so my guess is just that, a guess. Anyone fish here or know what they are?
Right at the mouth a saw a monster carp and a small trout.
Was there today to wash some lures and saw nothing .. No weed beds, very small baitfish swimming and saw what looked like a trout swimming.
I heard there were pike here, at least weed beds .... Am I in the wrong area? I fished the 2 goverment ramps and the sailing clubs.
Thanks in advance.
I fished from shore, but you can rent boats I think
The Ferry can get you there ... fott of Bay St. Ferry costs $6.50/rountrip. Parking costs me more, but if the TTC is around you, then take it.
My Rapala X-Rap no longer suspends and now floats after it was used to land a pike.
I understand that now it's now retired and this stuff happens (it's done it's job), but this raises the question as to what happens to a X-Rap during a hit to make it float? No exterior markings are noticed, so I'm not sure whats going on inside.
Any thoughts? Internal weights get moved around, but I know I didn't loose one .... !?!??!!
Went back yesterday (Tues. May 5, 2009) afternoon from 2:30PM - 8:30PM and was able to land 3 hammerhandles.
1st - absolutely inhaled the lure. I was lucky enough to be able to safely remove the lure.
2nd - followed the lure all the way up to about 5ft from shore and then I saw him hit the lure and set the hook ... never seen a fish hit my lure before and it was awesome.
3rd - when he struck, head shakes like crazy and I thought it was a bass, but the lure was hooked on his front lip. Braid + Front Lip = Head Shakes!
The fishing God's have been good to me and much props to the good men who've helped me get some luck on the islands. I'm absolutely beside myself becasue I never had some much luck and let's not hope I've peaked too soon in the season. Thank you all!
Here's a quick video of the the last hammerhandle's release
Thanks
I wont take offense as all fish were handled with much care and released. No fish spent more than 30 seconds out of the water and all swam away with a tonne of power. No troubled fish here.
First time on the Islands.
Took the 6:35AM Ferry and left approx 2:30PM
Ended up with 5 Pike
Largest was my PB 32" 6.5lbs - 3rd pic
2 @ 25-28"
2 less than 24"
All 5 pike were great healthy fish. The first fish of the day @ 8:30 (1st pic) jumped like a 3lb bass ... way out of the water. The 4th of the day was my PB at 32" 6.5lbs and built like a truck (3rd pic)!!!
All 5 Pike were released for battling another day.
