  1. Hi gang, looking for options for my dad, my 5 year old daughter, and myself to go fishing on fathers day. The target species will be sunfish, perch, bluegill etc. My boat is still under repair so a shore trip is in order. Anywhere within 1/2 hour in any direction of Barrie is fantastic!

    Thanks guys,

    Jesse

  2. Spinnerbaits were the only lure to put pike in the boat yesterday! Boated 2 on tandem blade, 3/4oz with green/yellow skirts. Chartruse blades on one and silver on the other. My first fish of any species on spinnerbaits and I owe to this thread for making me throw them :)

  3. That's a nice rig, exactly the size and style of boat I would like. But like you say, with an upgrade in power. What's the max hp rating on that model? As for the areas you are concerned with, I wouldn't be too worried about corrosion but more about it starting to chip and then spreading like wildfire! Before you know it you may be down to bare metal lol. (well maybe not THAT bad, but you get it) Good luck with the rig, show us the first sliming of it when you get it wet :)

  4. we hammered them on a very large sand flat, surrounded by rock ledges and weeds, last year when it was over 30 degrees and sweltering heat. we were throwing Zara Spooks and HulaPoppers for largemouth when we noticed little swirls in the distance. motored over with the electric and came upon the largest school of fish i've seen (aside from whities on Simcoe), feeding in packs on the surface. we threw our top waters at them and ended up boating 3 and losing / missing many more. as a suggestion, I wouldn't use a lure with multiple treble hooks. WAY too much of a pain to remove. also, good gloves, long nose hook removers, and a cradle instead of a net are highly recomended :) I learned all this the hard way :wallbash: good luck, don't forget pics

  5. hey there fellow anglers! So we've decided on Rock Pine Resort in Point au Baril for the May 25-27 weekend. I'm looking for spring tactics for walleye and pike. I'm starting to stock up on tackle for the coming year and what better place to start than to get a shopping list from the crowd here? We're both top-water fanatics for bass and pike, so I'm thinking Zara Super Spooks, buzz baits, and slash baits for pike. Anything else that you guys see as a "must have" for spring pike? As for walleye, I've only been out twice for them and caught one 14" little guy. What tactics / baits would you recomend for these tasty guys?

    Thanks,

    Jesse & Jen :)

  6. Any more advice or input from anyone? I'm hoping to book this weekend to ensure i can get the time off work. I'm also open to other suggestions up around the same area. We're big fans of the famous G-Bay sunsets/sunrises and experienced with that sort of structure etc. so we would like something in and around the Bay. But again, all suggestions will be researched. Thanks again, :)

  7. Good day to all. I'm looking for input on 2 places we're interested in for a weekend fishing trip. The first is Rock Pine in Point au Baril. Nice package deal for two nights with boat/motor for $380. The second is Harris Lake Marina. A little cheaper, but can't find any info on fishing reports or reviews. The time of year will be second last weekend in May or first 2 weekends in June. Target species will be pike, and some attempts at walleye although neither of us at all experienced with them. Thanks for your help,

    Jesse

  8. I'll second Curryale's recommendation. I've been out on a bunch of charters (entertaining clients) and hands-down I would recommend Ryan of We Pound 'Em. Not only has Ryan become a personal friend of mine, he and his crew are very professional and most importantly they are passionate about what they do so an amazing day is almost a given. Last trip out my clients had the time of their lives with the highlight being a fish that was in the top ten of the week in the Great Ontario Salmon Derby.

X3, class act and catches fish! Looking to book with him myself at the end of June

  9. Hi all, looking for advice and experience with a certain charter. My mom was awesome enough to book a full day charter for us with Reel Release on Lake Ontario for 2 weeks from now and I'm wondering if any members have had experience with this outfit? This is our first time with a charter and first time on the big water so we have nothing to compare to. Thanks a bunch :) PM me if you like.

  10. When I became unemployed in April I put my truck to work for me doing scrap metal. Pay isn't consistent but you can make some serious coin of you are willing to put in the time. I sent out 33 resumes to machine shops for CNC jobs and not one of them called back! Not ONE!!!! I bit the bullet and applied at an agency and got a placement 3 hours later. Been there 3 months now but still do scrap on the side for spending money and gas for the boat. PM me if you have any questions on how to start. I may be of some help.

  11. After much deliberation, my fiancé and I have dcided to go for a destination wedding in February 2013. Seems a little far away but we're beginning the planning stages now. What I'm looking for from the community is input, positive and negative, as to where to go / stay away from, what amenities to consider, and any firsthand stories. There will be a few kids coming (my daughter and her 2 nephews), so kid friendly is a must. We're not drinkers so the party seen isn't important, but a deep sea charter is a MUST!! I want to do something memorable for my groomsmen and catching giant, exotic fish is top of the list!! Thanks for your help and advice,

    Jesse & Jen :)
