  1. Point Au Baril area is really nice. Lots of resort cottages like you're looking for, tons of scenery, good fishing for bass and panfish that time of year too.

You've also got Parry Sound close and so is Killbear for day trips. I took my wife to Rock Pine Resort last year and we had a great weekend. Solid, reliable boat packages with 16 footers and Yammy's. They had a fantastic beach area too! We went around pike opener but with the early warm weather we couldn't key in on a pattern in 2 days. We got a few plus a handful of really nice OOS bass. Check out that area, you might find something that suits your family's needs.

    Cheers,

    Jesse

  2. No big trip planned this year

Balsam lake in no June for a father and two son trip for a few days which is always a blast

Short two night trip to Algonquin park for a first ever interior trip. Route still tbd but it looks like Ragged will be home base. Excited and a tad nervous as a newbie

Only other trip will be an find and skins weekend on Sturgeon lake with the boys either September or October

Will also try for a few 1 day trips to Balsam were brother, dad and kids to try to get the little ones hooked

My 4 year old picked out a Princess tackle boxat BPS this weekend on her own accord. Trying not to read to much into it lol

    Can't wait - see u later snow!

Those all sound like winners to me!

I'm itching to hit Algonquin Park for my first time also. When my uncle was alive he and my cousin used to do the opening weekend trip for 4-5 nights. The stories they'd come back with left me in awe, but I have yet to tackle it myself. Maybe next year will be the year

Good luck getting your daughter into fishing! I pushed mine a little hard a couple weeks ago and she got cold feet :( I may have turned her off ice fishing for a while lol. We'll still have a day or two left on Simcoe to try and make up for it!

With all these trips planned, we'll be in store for some killer reports this year! I can't wait for them to start rolling in

  3. Jesse, I got a job at that marina by my cottage so I will be living there for the summer/fall. This means I won't be able to do much traveling but I will be going to the French river for musky opener and hopefully I will be able to get away for a week at Ivanhoe lake.

    Have fun on your trip!

    Andrew

Good score on the job buddy :clapping: ....although, won't it take a lot of time away from :Gonefishing: ?? lol

Maybe we can set something up to fish there again this year. My wife is very jealous of this trip we're taking and demanding that I take her on at least one fishing weekend this summer! Maybe once bass season opens up in PAB, we'll make our way up. She really liked Rock Pine last year, we just wish the fishing would've been better. But what can ya do? lol

This thread is turning into a fun read, so many great sounding trips in the works! And a few fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants gigs as well...I love both and will be doing some of the same myself throughout the year.

  4. I can sense you're a bit excited Jesse. :)

Glad I was able to help you and your dad find something suitable.

I've got a bunch of trips on tap this year myself, pretty stoked myself.

    Cheers

Is it that easy to tell :whistling: lol

Thanks for all the advice, I'm sure I'll be pestering you some more as the date draws closer!

  5.

I'm in the process of planning our first outpost trip in September to celebrate my Dad's 50th birthday. We'll be staying with 7 Lakes Wilderness Camps on Marshall Lake which is just north of Nakina, ON. We'll be there from August 31 to September 7, targeting walleye and big pike. The lake also holds a healthy population of whitefish and perch, so we hope to have some whities to bring home for the smoker! With 7 Lakes Outfitters having the only camp on the lake, we're excited to enjoy the seclusion of the north and the fantastic fishing it has to offer.

Does anybody else have trips they're planning for this year?

Where are you going and what will you be targeting?

Do you have any tips or tactics for "newbies to the far north?"

    Let's hear you plans!!

Cheers, and stay safe this next week

  6. Hopefully Doug (Skud) chimes in, I'm sure he could recommend someone in the Barrie area (Or do it himself)

Hey Bill, I'm up for that! If you can get in touch with him by other means, apart from here, feel free please. I'd like to try and have this done ASAP. Thanks guys. And for the heads up on HD Art.

  7. Did the place you bought it from offer any kind of service?

Yes, we got it from Home De-pot. They offer removal and replacement, but it was suggested we could get ours done cheaper by finding our own guy. Maybe we should just call one of their guys, and go from there.

Thanks for the responses guys, cheers!

  8. Hi all, I'm looking for someone in the Barrie area to install a new dishwasher my wife and I bought Friday. It will be a new install not a replacement, there was never one in the house. I got one response from a contractor site that was shady right off the bat, wanting to "tap into" an existing power source. I have a friend whose house burned down from this kind of install so I'll be damned if I let some fly-by-night contractor do this to us. Especially with a child in the house and another on the way!

Any good references out there guys/gals?

What should we expect to pay to remove cupboards, run water and electrical lines?

Should we be looking for a plumber, electrician, or both?

    Thanks guys,

    Jesse

  9. I just ran into Mrs. Canning, who is a long time friend of the family and former hut rental operator. She has just informed me that they will be selling minnows this ice season to supply anglers in and around the Barrie area. They are located at Minet's Point in Barrie, on the south shore of Kempenfelt Bay. Great to hear a local business still making it here in town! Good luck to all this ice season, stay safe and may your catches be plentiful!

  10. The colour of one's bucket has nothing to do with the colour of one's skin.

I have seen Russians, Italians, Portugese, Chinese, Koreans, and.....even...gasssppppp....white Canadians on shore with a bucket of panfish.

Again - if you find the term to be racially pointed - it's in YOUR head.

And sometimes, the bucket isn't even white.

hahaha! I coudn't stop laughing at this! I have a maroon bucket, a blue bucket, and.....gassssppppp.....a black bucket! Where the hell do i fit in???
