  1. I thought instantly of someone giving her a biased view as well. No ten year old would form that one-sided opinion on their own.

The resolution saves face for both but, in the end you are still the parent.

I would engage her in an emotionless discussion to find the basis for her "firmly held beliefs".

As an aside, you should contact Lezlie and propose this as a story idea although I am sure this has come up before.

  2.

Ecodiesel 10,600lbs, F150 13,300lbs... when are you ever pulling close to 10,000lbs? I would guess, never. It's got a lot more with it being a half tonne chassis then it does the engine.

Also, if you are pulling a trailer with that much weight, you're buying a Duramax, Cummins, Powerstroke.. Not a 1500 series truck.

I used the word "carry" but, I properly should have used the word Payload. I agree that I would rarely ever be pulling that much. Thats why I was referring to payload capacity.

RAM 1500 Laramie, V6 Diesel, Quad, auto, 6.4, 4x4 gives a payload of 1,076 lbs. Towing of 8,000.

Two guys, an ATV in the bed and you are already near Max. Thats before your gear or any tongue weight.

Apparently, some hunters could easily be dinged.

Some other model Diesels with same specs had a max payload of close to 1,400 lbs and a towing of 7,800lbs.

I think this is what he was referring to.

  3. I used my 18V Makita last year with no problems. Even through two feet of ice. Not black ice mind you but, plenty of friction nontheless.

I was more worried about what that torque would do to the drill so I really babied it through the day. I never went straight through in one go. I stopped and cleared the hole frequently.

I also kept all the batteries in a small insulated cooler bag with a hot water bottle to keep them warm through the day. I also put the battery in use back in the cooler bag when I was done drilling.

If anything went south, one bolt unscrewed and I could put the handle back on(not needed yet but, good to have as a backup).

Brian, Lebaron's has 15% off their regular price of $90.94 (the 6") for members until Christmas.

  4. JB's should have them. The shop is a little different as they are still reeling from their Insurance debacle after the flooding.

I was in JB's last week for some LO tackle and their inventory was somewhat 'skinny' (perhaps because of time of season??). I buy the vast majority of my rods & reels from JB's but if I'm looking for selection of spoons, flies & attractors, Shortwave Marine Electronics (google) in Port Credit is my preferred vendor as well as many others who fish out of Port Credit & Bronte.

I would double check on Shortwave....I think they might have closed or at least moved. Correct me if wrong.

  5. The next time you, or someone you know, can get to the states, buy some Teknu. It washes off the oil (uroshiol), which is super hard to wash off with anything else. Uroshiol stays active for months after it gets on something (skin, sleeping bag, clothing, dog), and can keep causing a reaction each time you touch it. Dogs are great for causing a reaction for months after you haven't been anywhere near PI. I am one of those folks that has a really bad reaction to PI. Since I started using Teknu (many parks departments in the states require it's use by employees) I have never had it bother me for more than a day.

Just started to see more endorsements of this product lately. Remembered this thread...

It can probably be found cheaper than MEC but, posted this to prove its availability locally. Careful of spelling. Tecnu
