just about every river, you can targer redhorse in rivers as well, like carp, they wont move more then 4 inches for a fly, so... and old on, I have heard of 40+ min fights
for fresh fish and fall steelhead, I use streamers, technique. cast, strip strip strip strip, take a step, cast, strpi strip strip, strip, cast strip wiggle strip wiggle strip wiggle strip, cast strip strip strip strip, cast strip wiggle strip willgge strip wiggel, strip, take a step , cast, ........ and it works... if the fish is there and you piss it off it will hit the fly like BAM, that what streamers are used for, finding Keen fish...
that poor poor pond see so much tangled line, birds eating corn and bread baited hooks discarted on its banks.. people keeping a plastic bag full of 5 10 20 bass and or catfish, no big fish .. close it to fishing please close it...
I like FireLine, I use it in certain conditions fly fishing but always attach a leader to it for stealth. think about bite dection, and no stretch lines, i.e. braid. just attach a lead to er and let em bite!
Hey there, Look into some Tippet Rings, if you can find them in Canada.. their a tiny tiny ring to tie to your mainline, then your tip. It saves the gruff of tying blood knots/surgeons knots etc. and eliminates the big ole barrel swivel. I use them mostly on my fly rods and they sure can hold a bruit carp off the bottom. I feel they will be just fine on conventional gear.. mind you, I always use straight leaders in the 4-8lb 8-20ft range, unless I'm nymphing, then I use tippet and always a Tippet Ring
rio steelhead/salmon fly line for all my steelhead salmon pike and bass fishing.. its wf, with a bullet style taper, witch meand it turns over big air resistant flies. and a long head for easy mending..
those look really nice! good job!
I suggest you tie on a stinger hook!
I've lost some takes and visually watched a pike grab my streamer by the tail turn and never hook up. so I tie 20lb wire and have the hook point just shy of the end of the fly. it helps a lot, use a heavy guage hook, I forget what mine are but their a number 6 salt water type hook, I think.
Loomis and tools. But their not around currys. Goto a craft art store. Same deer rabbit pheasant polar bear fox tail etc. for less money then the tackle shop
and I actually started centerpinning years before I ever flyfished, so I usually fish weekdays, and if i am swinging flies I can and dont mind fishing alone with no one in the run/poos, and the great thing about skagit style spey fishing is.. i can use my sink tips or sone shot, and dead dripe or fish behind a rock without bugging the others,,its not always about the 'swing' but thanks
