  1. They are summer run steelhead. They usually start running the rivers in july. There used to be a fishable population in Owen Sound in the 90's. The states of Wisconsin, Indiana and Illinois are the best place in the GL region to fish them as they stock quite a few and have strong runs.

  2. Okay -- I'm still trying to figure out the rig --- the bottom of the three way swivel, in particular. You jam surgical tubing onto the swivel, and wedge it there with lead..what dangles down? A pencil weight? I suppose how heavy depends on the current...are you picky on the length of the line going to the weight?

Main line connects to a 3 way swivel, leader to the other side of the swivel.

Next to the 3rd swivel is connected a piece of surgical tube (attached with a piece of wire (copper fly tying wire in the thicker sizes works well Or bell wire with the cover removed.)) .

Slide a piece of pencil lead into the tubing.

This Artists Rendering should help.

  3. As I understand it, his first task as president will be to get Airforce One some new updates.

    Sorry I couldn't resist. :D

Seriously, I'm sure he will do an excellent job. He just has to fix W's mess!!!!

Time to bring the forces home!!

  4. Anyone see the whitefish spawning yet this year ?

I tried to catch the whitefish last year but they have lock jaw something serious, they won't eat anything while spawning but I know the muskies will be eating them. :D

If you use the right technique you sure as heck can get 'em!!!!

Try fishing wire worms under a float.

I don't have a picture but the ones we use up here have a small red bead or two in the center of the fly.

  5. Animals on the wall

Just because you won the largest trout at this year’s fishing competition, doesn’t mean it’s worthy of being hung on your living room wall. The same goes for moose heads, antlers, polar bear rugs, et cetera. They are tacky, and often end up frightening your guests, rather than impressing them. If you must see your trophy piece displayed on a wall, opt for a more modest room, such as the garage (or perhaps a dim corner in the basement.)

Spoken like a true p,,,e,,,,,, ah never mind, they aint worth it.LOL

Get rid of the crystal chandalier and replace it with an antler version, get rid of the ugly white book shelves repaint it a nice Advantage Camo and the place will look just fine!!!! :clapping::thumbsup_anim::clapping:

  6. Solo I'll have to agree with the other board members, you make this way to easy and we all become jealous. It leaves me to wonder if your job sits on the edge of some fabulous river where you can cast out the window and work at the same time.?? Man some guys have all the luck

Actually his job sits on the edge of acres of ashphalt!!!! :D

  7. Limey,

That's exactly right. It's great on gas but that's all cuz if you get stuck you'll be lookin for a tow truck.I would want a lot more info on it as there are a lot of options out there and much better prospects.I love my cats but a 48 hp four stroke ain't one of them.If it was the turbo model@100hp it might be worth six grand or so.

Really if you want a four stroke two up touring you're better off with the Yamaha Venture.May be a bit more expensive but Yami has done a great job with four stroke sleds.Lots of time to look for the right machine. My 2cents.

    Kerry

    48 Horse Power!!!! :lol::lol::lol::lol:

Dude if you're lookin' for a four stroke buy a Yamaha!!!

Even their Venture Lite 2 up model has 80 horse power.

4 strokes are heavy and it the more power the better.

I have an '08 Venture GT with 120 HP it's sweeeeeet but $$$$$$$$

If you're looking for a less expensive option I'm sure there are some used Yammies out there.

  8. While salmon fishing several miles off shore,i have seen probly rainbows,or coho pushing a big school of boatfish right to the surface, and man there tens of thousands of small baitfish jumping right out of the water,as well as big boils from whatever was pushing them to the surface, and ive seen it sometimes at least several hundreds of feet in diameter !!!! it looks totally awesome when you seeit,i think i have some pictures of them i will have alook !!! cheers :thumbsup_anim::Gonefishing:

I have had Lakers do the same thing up here. it happens a lot in saltwater, it's called a Blitz.

  9. I have heard of people getting tickets in paddle boats so I have to ask.

What regulations are there for those small pontoon boats that one uses flippers or oars to propel?

    With and without motor.

    forrest

My guess is the same as any other small craft, i.e. canoe, kayak etc. Make sure you have the proper safety equipment and you'll be fine.

    From the Canadian Boating Regs:

Unpowered Craft up to 6 metres in length (19'8")

1 approved and properly sized lifejacket (yellow, red or orange) or PFD (personal floatation device) for each person on board

    1 buoyant heaving 15 metres

one manual propelling device OR an anchor with 15 m (50') of cable, rope or chain

one Class 5BC fire extinguisher, if equipped with an inboard engine, a fixed fuel tank, or a fuelburning stove, fridge or heater.

1 hand-bailer OR manual pump with enough hose to pump water overboard [Not required for any self-bailing sealed hull sailboat that cannot contain enough water to make the vessel capsize OR a multi-hull vessel that has subdivided multiple-sealed hull construction.]

    Sound signalling device

Navigation lights must comply with Collision Regulations [Not required unless operated at night or in restricted visibility.]

  10. Even better is to add a set of Smart Tabs (Pro Troller Series).

    Pro Trollers

Not only are they trolling brakes, they are also trim tabs that will get you on plane faster and at a lower speed. Plus you'll get better hanling and gas mileage to boot!!

The motor mounted trolling brakes interfere with the motors directional abilities as the thrust that moves the boat is deflected. You don't have that problem with the Pro Trollers.
