  1. If you want the pinnacle of the fishing kayak world look at the Hobie Pro Angler models.

My buddy has a PA 14 and it is an awesome fishing platform. There is also a 12' version.

I'm actually planning on picking up a kayak next month and will go the conventional (read regular paddle type) but sit on top Wilderness Systems Tarpon 120 or 140 model.

The Jackson Cuda 12 and 14 models are also top rated fishing kayaks.

Which ever way you go longer is better. For handling bigger water as well as paddling speed.

  2. I have an 18' Fisher that maxes out at 115hp.

    I bought it new with a 90 2stroke and have just upgraded to a 115 4stroke.

Performance and speed is pretty much the same between the motors.

So if you're talking either a 90 or 115 4 stroke you should see a fair difference with the 115.

As said both motors weigh the same so that is not an issue.

If you notice that when you get your new toy out on the lake that there are any performance/handling issues stick a set of Smart Tabs on and you will be amazed at how well they work for so little money. ;)

  3. I'm still running my old Pioneer surface mount car speakers from the early 90's in my boat.

They still work great even though they are about 20 years old and covered with rust.

Heck, they weren't even new when I put them in. I was a car audio installer for many years and these were replaced for a customer through insurance because of an attempted theft which damaged the case on one. B)

  4. if anyone is looking for big lakers, in May - Lake Ontario there are many lakers caught over 20lbs.....usually approaching 30lbs....

cracking 30lbs is tough, but certainly attainable.

also, there are many of them, so you don't have to feel bad about keeping one for the wall.

Sure is a good place for big lakers in ON.

Caught many over 20# there back in the day.

When they used to stock them in the Ganny harbour in the 80's there was a great run in October with lots of fish over 24#'s to be caught.

Biggest Ontario laker I ever caught was in the low to mid 30's off Pt. Credit during the summer after an offshore wind caused a good 45* upwelling just off shore.

  5. If you are going to Argentina you may want to stay on dry land. :w00t:

Attacks by a school of carnivorous fish have injured at least 10 people bathing in an Argentine river since Thursday.

The attacks took place in the Parana River in Rosario some 300 km northeast of Buenos Aires.

Seventy people who were cooling off from high temperatures were also injured there in late December by the same piranha-like fish. They included seven children who lost parts of their fingers or toes.

The latest attack by the "palometas'' was confirmed Saturday. They've been described by the local director of lifeguards as "a type of piranha, big, voracious and with sharp teeth that can really bite."

Media reports said the injured included a boy who suffered a foot wound while floating in the river.

Experts say unusually high temperatures during the Austral summer and lower numbers of species such as caiman that preyed on the fish could be causing the attacks.
