  1. Well my trusty 8 hp Merc. finally started to have problems on my last trip . It is about time really considering the bouncing around

it takes going down the trails over the last 10 years . She doesn't owe me anything !!!

Anyways , I have fuel coming out the carb and I would assume it would be a float issue but not sure . Funny thing is , is that it runs

perfect except when I idle right down . It feels like it wants to choke out as well there is a small amount of fuel leaking out the carb

as previously noted . I am going to fire it up today and let it run a bit to see if it there is still a problem , maybe the ride out on my last

trip jarred something in the carb and somehow no more problem (doubt it though)

If all else fails , does anyone know of a good outboard mechanic in the Barrie area that could help me out .

    Thanks

  2. I have not been on many fly ins but have been on my fair share of backwoods adventures . Good list and I cant really add anything new

but can definitely say that baby wipes and duct tape are always on the list . As well no matter what time of year I will always have bug

spray . I have seen bugs as bad in September as in May so you never know ! I will also take a boat motor kit with me that has various things

in it that if anything basic breaks down , it can be fixed . Been on a couple trips where the outboard has broken down in the middle of

no where with no way to fix it . Never again !!! Several lighters or waterproof matches too .

  3. There is a launch at Glenwood , not sure about cost . There are several free ones around lake . Easiest one is just behind Mckellar

Store . Take road behind store (follow shoreline)and follow road for about 200 yards and there is one there (good fries at corner) and one just a little bit further down the same

road about 1 km . Another one is about 10 km down Centre Road (Mckellar) to a bridge that crosses the Manitouwabing River , free as well !

    Good Luck

  4. Welcome , great bunch here . I live in Mansfield just on the south/west side of the base , lots of good river fishing in this area . Spring and fall are the best times for trout

and salmon . Like others have said Simcoe is a great fishery as well ! I would assume that you are an active member of the military and if so I believe you would have

access to Mountain Lake at CFB Meaford (LFCATC Meaford) I would look into that if I was you . I have had the pleasure of fishing there several times and it is worth it .

Mind you I have not been there in a couple years , at the time it was a great smallmouth bass and walleye lake . At that time only military and members of east grey

hunters and anglers were allowed access , and for all you "Lurkers" out there I wouldn't be trying to sneak in for a quick fish . It is a military base :whistling: Good luck !

  5. I'm hearing that the fishing section is not the best and that is disappointing . I am going to try and get in there next week and see

for myself . Does anyone know if we will be able to order on line and have it shipped to the store in Barrie for pickup and avoid all

the costs of ordering online ?

  6. That's a bummer about the boats , what are you going to do now ? We have some cached boats on a lake and have never had a problem . We pull them way up

into the bush so they are not an eye sore for anyone going by "out of sight out of mind" There is a bass lake I have been fishing for a long time now that has

at least 15 cached boats at the end of the trail all pilled up every which way , really looks terrible . Its not a matter of if but when the MNR see's this and they will pull

these things out or tag them .

Love the sluice box , you never know do you , good luck !
