Well my rod kit arrived today from Cabela's so here I go...making my first rod. It sure looks easy before you take it out of the box . I will post updates and pics of me trying to build this. Hopefully the last pic will be of a finished rod and not the bottom of my trash can. Wish me luck

For those heading to the French River
Almontefisher replied to Rich Clemens's topic in General Discussion
Just think though you would have your trout and corn dinner to boot This is not as bad as what has happened to the river here in Ottawa over the last few years...try at least 10 times that much has spilled in the river from our city sewage plants. The carp are happy though -
Thanks Spiel...expect a bunch

Well what I meant by spare time is that I have an amazing wife who lets me go free every now and then but I do take my turn at the kid show for sure...My son is a great sleeper so during certain times of the day I have a few hours to kill while he sleeps so I will fill that void if possible with this. Now I just jinxed myself Jacques: I will try to build some of those tip ups as well...When you get the details on paper let me know. Stoty: I will buy a kit and will post the progress for all to follow...All goofs etc will be posted. I am ordering it today so a few weeks and I should be good to go. Thanks for the responses and I am sure I will be asking for some help with this alot. Peter

Hey all: Just wondering if any of you have done this before. I will have some spare time this winter with the new baby and all and wont get out much on the hardwater so I thought I would try to make my own rod. Should I buy a full kit for my first or what???

So I know Muskiewannabe and his buddy pretty well and I have received calls last night and this morning from his buddy telling me about the evening...He is still screaming like a little girl about that fish...Now that big black cloud behind ya,s looks like a swarm of may flies....Again nice work B. I don't think I will ever hear the end of this one -
So, I just got a call from my wife...
Almontefisher replied to solopaddler's topic in General Discussion
Yeah the owner of the property is responsible for the tree dead or alive so what will happen is you go thru your insurance company and the will subrigate against the other owner. Deductible will be applied by most companies but some don't for things like this. I work with an insurance company and we go through this a lot...Some policies have a small amount that can be used for debris clean up but usually it is lower then the deductible ...Call your agent or broker and tell him the situation. If the guy living next door rents then there is nothing he can or should do as this signifies that they are liable. Now seeing as your fence and other items were destroyed it should be worth the claim but remember that they may surcharge you now due to a claim or some companies will not offer renewal. Now the cherry tree I do not think will be covered. Good luck and keep us posted. -

Very nice day for sure...Tried for walleye yesterday in a little lake around my home and not a thing...Did anyone else notice on the stringer line that one was not a walleye...Must have been a little perch snack craving. -

Big Rideau lives up to her name
Almontefisher replied to Almontefisher's topic in General Discussion
I just found out that I have been added to Team #9 in the tourney and this fish will probably not qualify as I did not have the logo etc in the pics Sorry guys I will have the proper items next time. -
Well this is my first report on here so I wanted it to be a good one. I will make this short cause I can make a report long.... Went out onto the Big Rideau for lakers and caught 2 of them....One was about 2lbs... and the other was this guy... 32" x 18" @ 13lbs....That almost doubles my old PB of 7lbs. So a great morning for sure.

Yup water snake...used to catch them when I was a kid out of Clayton lake...They are aggresive but non venomous...Hits hard with a nice bite but you will survive as I am still standing...May be not as smart as I was but they are not dangerous. They dive very well and can stay underwater for about 3 minutes or so. Fun snake to play with as a kid.

Just wanted to say hello and introduce myself...I am obviously new to the site but was told by a buddy that it is well done. I will browse around a while before posting too much. I am an avid fisherman who loves trout fishing but hates eating fish...I have a cottage up in the Ompah area and fish mainly around there. I live in Carleton Place and fish the Mississippi Lkae and Miss river alot. Have been fishing since I was 3 with a little stop during highschool cause my friends did not think fishing was the cool thing to do. Anyway look forward to meeting some of you and sharing some reports if I catch any fish worth reporting.
