Ugh ! Disgusting Bruce ! Peanut does need to be tied to a tree sometimes though, everytime I was unhooking a fish she was doing a 4 ft jump at it. Here's the perch I think u lost.
-
She doesn't mind a little sand or a lot of sand with her fish snacks either.

That was one pig of a perch Bruce at 12.5". It could have been a 6 lb perch that got away.

Hey Bruce, is that the type of sucker u can use for catfish cutbait and did ya keep it ? Good to see Anna and friend still likes fishing.

I've been there a few times but not for over 10 yrs now. I believe that the Tim Horton's kids camp is still located on Lorimer Lake but didn't notice them doing a lot of fishin' when I was there. Lots of smallmouth and rockies around the islands and some big panfish in the back bays.

I've seen that Fisheries and Oceans Baitfish Species Accounts a couple years back and it hasn't been updated. I remember in 2008, new regs came into effect about more species being illegal to use as live bait and the use of alewives is one of them. http://www.mnr.gov.on.ca/en/Business/LetsFish/2ColumnSubPage/198684.html

I believe there is good numbers of smelt at Ramey's Bend every Winter, Rick.

It was a slow day out there yesterday Bruce and wouldn't ya know it, my gf caught more perch than a few of us, lol.

There is a free ramp at the end of Elizabeth st at the Forty mile park. It's gets fairly shallow in there at times so not good for large boats.

Pretty sure that the leader that Mr anomynous gave me tied it himself and used metal crimps. I looked up the "nail knot" and it looks like a fancy snell type knot and wondered what u use for a tube, so that answered my question. Do u just use braided line to hold everything together ?

That's an awesome chewed tree pic and artistic. There's getting to be more beavers around the Hammy harbour and at Lasalle park they've tied wire screening around the trees. Most destruction I've seen recently tho is around the Martindale pond in St Cath.

That's a pretty cool knot HD, will have to learn that one. I've been using 35 lb fluoro and it works fine with the snotters but don't trust it with bigger fish. I was given a pretied flouro leader by a kind fisherman that likes to remain anonymous. Wasn't anything happening with the pike that day but he was attracting beavers. His identity as well as the beaver's had to be hidden.

Selection looks pretty good, especially with the suspending baits like the Huskies and the X-raps that u can stop and go retrieve when the cold fronts hit and the pike don't feel like chasing lures. I've always had luck on Little Cleo spoons, 3/4 oz or 2/5 oz in the hammered style in green or chartruese. They can also be put to good use for trout and salmon. You could also add a couple inline spinners and I've had the best luck on Vibrax spinners in the #4 and #5 with bright coloured centers. They also work well for a variety of species. One last thing is u might want to get some longer needle nosed pliers in the 10" range, with some baits the pike will take a lure in deeper and will save a few cuts and scrapes from those razor sharp teeth.

Good to see u getting the kids out Bruce, even tho it still has been on the cool side but at least it's not snowing.

That's one nice kitty Chris. I tried the Hammy harbour with frozen smelt last week but no hits. Switched up to corn bolt rigs for carps on the weekend and they have been slow also but are moving in.

The Four Horseman, Of Wolf and Man and The Thing that should not be ........

Happy b-day Darrell and to your other brother Darrell (old Newhart show), lol.

We know there are no pics of you on here, you are the Unknown Comic, (think was from the Gong show for those of u that remember it). You shoulda went for the blue side of the salami pill instead of the red side. You've entered a whole new reality now as a different being.

Hey that spot looks familiar. Nice back side shot of a restless Pike, Grant. Good meeting u today and too bad we couldn't get any critters to chomp a lure today instead of just following them.
-
Ya could have with that big 8 banger and high powered tranny with possi track, lol.
-
Also sorry to hear about the van Bruce, we took many a fishing trip in her. I just started having tranny probs last Fall in my old Ford car and before it's warmed up for about a good 10 mins when it's below freezing out, it has a hard time wanting to go into gear. Was told it needs a control valve assembly and was quoted about $500 at a trans shop, but pretty sure I could get it done cheaper if I shopped around. It seems fine when the temp is above 0* and the fluid doesn't get as thick and the filter is fine so going to leave it as it is and hopefully don't caught somewhere with a prob. They just don't build vehicles like they used to, especially like the muscle cars we drove back in the 70's.

Glamor Lake (Big Glamour Lake) Haliburton tips?
rockfish replied to saspirilli's topic in General Discussion
I've fished Little Glamor a few yrs ago and crayfish were the top bait for big Smallies around the rocky areas close to shore. I'd imagine that Big Glamor has pretty well the same structure. There is a small dam between the 2 lakes that u can carry a canoe around pretty easily. Minnow imitation cranks were also working for us. Good luck. -
Pretty funny stuff Grant and nice toothies, guess that was a "dual" Matrix pill, since it was both red and and blue, lol.
-
Nice toothy Dirk, things can only get better from now.

Did some scouting today myself for some open water spots but still lots of ice in places. Should be looking alot better after this weekend. Cool deer pics right out behind your place diggy, gotta be a sure sign of Spring.
