  1.

I'm gonna be at Lakair over on the West Arm the last week of June and then again the first 2 weeks of August.

Maybe we could get a few local OFCers together for a little musky G2G

That would be sweet. Can't believe I might actually catch a musky lol, after all these years! (I've only really fished for them a handful of times)

  2. I have 2 pups of my own, 6 year old Beagle/Collie and a 4 year old Cockapoo. They are a huge part of our family. Brings a tear to my eye just imagining what you are going through. Stay strong, deepest sympathies from my family to yours.

  3. Ya I'm right on the lake just past the turn for Glenrock, almost at the end of the road. It's actually not a musky, it's a big northern. I have yet to catch the elusive musky but I have boated many 48" plus northerns when I fished up in the NWT. If you could put me on a musky I would be in your debt.

  4. He might be thinking of a past member that was banned for being highly offensive named "The Maverick" his time was short. I can guarantee everyone here that you are not him. lol

Hehe ok good, I was thinking it might have been in one of my drunken stoopers. You know, some of us are highly offensive, others smoke crack...

  5. My mother in-law bought a new Rogue about 8 months ago and she's not totally pleased with it. Lots of little things, averages 11L/100km fuel mileage.

My sister just blew the engine in her 2013 Santa Fe that might have 20k on it. She is not happy! It's covered under warranty but she's not impressed. Dealership said it would be a month before she got her vehicle back. They gave her a loaner but things just arent the same as factory when they need to pull the engine in the newer cars. I forsee problems down the road with that car.

You don't hear much bad about the Hondas or Toyotas and they run forever.

  6. Brad we have Randy From Sturgeon, and Curlap, from Sturgeon Falls and several members from North Bay. I have a permanent trailer parked at Glenrock Trailer park right in Sturgeon. Get in touch with me through PM and we can hook up in May.

Yeah I have seen that there are a few members from up this way. I'll definitely PM you, I live just down from where your trailer is.

Nice to hear your back.Did you not have another new member commenting as well back some time ago?.Really enjoyed your comments!!!

Maybe I'm thinking of someone else?

??? Must be someone else :dunno:

  7. As some have said, it is the transition into a service centered economy. Those who serve will have mostly part time jobs making at or close to minimum wage and those who operate the service making significantly more. Eventually the middle class will shrink to the point of no return. The government isnt helping though, striking deals for free trade and reduced tarrifs on goods we import. The issue with this is that they are negotiating with countries that pay their workers fractions of what our minimum wage is. Just look at the Korea deal that just happened. Do you think Kia pays their workers $30/hr, I doubt it. And Chrysler has the Ontario government over their knee saying basically give us an exorbenent amount of money or we're moving to Mexico. The government has no choice because it's not only the Chrysler employees that will take a hit, it's all the suppliers and local economy as well. Soon the majority of manufacturing jobs will be eliminated in Canada. Next thing you know Canadian workers will be training their foreign replacements, wait a second...

  8. Had a leak in my basement 2 years ago. Was block wall and there was no signs of any cracks. Turns out, when the guy built the deck on the back of the house before selling it drilled his sono tubes right through the big O plugging them. I had to dig the entire length of my house 5 feet down, 4 feet out and 40 feet long. I resealed the concrete with Blueskin and ran 2 layers of big O. Worst part about it was that the basement was finished so I had to gut the basement and refinish it and insurance doesn't cover seepage.

  9. Well.....

I joined this forum a while back then went on a little hiatus. I was in school and was busy doing everything but fishing. Got married, had a kid and my wifes job moved north. We moved to Sturgeon Falls in October and I am finally settled in. I am looking forward to getting back to fishing more than once a year and posting more frequently. Hope all is well.

  10. “Over the last 50 years since the construction of the Noden Causeway, there’s been billions of dollars generated in the district economy,” said Chief McPherson.

“And we haven’t been allowed to participate in that.”

what about Rama /license to steal/ Casino.....

like I think you have made out OK...

Different tribe. These guys are by Fort Frances, not Rama.

  11. my buddy just baught a 7'11 G-Loomis frog rod.. but its just shy of 300 bones.. so i was wondering what you guys use on here.. maybe a little cheaper

I use a 7-9 Shimano Clarus MH CSC-X79MH. They are around 100 bucks and it has served my well.

  12. Thanks for the advice everyone.

Boss, a friend talked me into Quantum, so I ended up going with a Quantum Energy PT.

I took the advice and visited my local tackle shop to feel them out for myself. Initially, I liked how the Revo XS felt in my hands, but I thought I should avoid future hassles and get a reel with an easy to use, yet highly customizable braking system. I tried the Curado, which was extremely light and small (despite large spool size), but it felt a little uncomfortable in my hands. I have pretty large hands, and I felt like I could crush it if I squeezed hard (not to say Shimano uses weak materials, I just mean it felt uncomfortably small to hold). I decided to spend the extra dollar for a Quantam, which felt the best, had a handle that felt smoothest, and had some of the strongest reviews online. The trippy metallic coating is a plus as well.

I got both a curado and energy PT new last year. I must say, I used the PT more, just loved the feeling. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

  13. I haven't had any issues with the Stren as I have with spider wire. Fireline has treated me well also. Berkley Whiplash was made for only a short period of time but it was amazing. One of my main reels is spooled with it going on 6 years and it looks like new. I just bought some of the P-Line braid last week and so far it looks pretty good, I haven't got to use it yet but feels nice and limp, comparable to power pro so we will see how it fishes.

  14. I have a Beagle/Colie, his mom was a beagle and his dad was a rough colie. He is an amazing dog. I live on a busy street corner with no real defined fence but he stays in the yard and I NEVER tie him. He listens 98% of the time and is one of the smarter dogs that I have met. He does love to run so I take him to the dog park or the beach or ball park and let him run. He is eager to please and I couldn't ask for a better dog.

  15. Actually I've got a 16' Sportspal flatback and use it with my 2 horse Honda.

I'll agree they're great boats, very light and stable, but I'd never want to paddle one.

I've also used the 16' Coleman Y- stern. It's way heavier but also incredibly stable and much more comfortable than the Sportspal.

If weight isn't an issue and you can get a deal on the Coleman I'd go for it.

All things considered the ultimate imo would be a 16' Grumman aluminum y-stern canoe.

Super tough, very stable and light and much cleaner lines. It's a much nicer canoe to paddle especially on rivers.

Hard to find one though, they don't make them anymore and all the old bush rats up north who have one hold onto them.

I'll second the 16' Grumman. I have one of these and it's awesome. I have seen some on kijiji so keep your eyes open.
