  1. An Indy trail 500 is a very easy-to-find reliable sled. Indy 440's are great machines as well but typically they're a few years older and not quite as common. They both have respectable power while remaining pretty light (fan cooled machines).

The only Tundra's you will find for under 2 grand will be the 250's which are great for what they are, but not for riding two-up and hauling a shack. An MXZ 550f or Formula 503 would do the trick but these are short track chassis not fit for offtrail use (really fun machines though).

My buddy just picked up a 94 Skandic 503 and it would be ideal for what youre looking for, but they are fairly rare machines, and hold their value well. Bearcat 440's are another good choice.

  2. For back lake rainbows I used to use the tiny flatfish in black silver "skunk" pattern we called it and they were only like 1.5-2.5 inches long the smallest ones I think I remember and the trout would go crazy over them .... They out fished almost everything and I swear made them strike as they wobble and entice them and same type scenario I would troll them and drift with them also the Panther Martin with a piece of worm on it did the trick many times but trout really like those small wobbly flatfish/kik fish give em a try

That's a great idea. I will definitely try that!

  3. Got out on Sunday for my final day of trout fishing for the 2015 softwater season. Like the rest of the month, the weather was absolutely gorgeous, and the water was still 63-65 degrees on the surface. The upwind side of the lake had notably colder water and was holding the vast majority of the trout not surprisingly. Fish were still glued to the bottom in 50-65 FOW and we picked off 4 good trout to fill our limits on flutter spoons behind 3,oz bouncers trolled slowly. It was a nice way to cap things off, even though I still do a fair amount of splake and rainbow fishing well into the fall. Here's some photos...cheers

  4. Every trailer if plated , will have an ownership associated with the plate. If the seller wants to retain his plate, then you take the vehicle portion to Serviceontario and get the trailer transferred into your name. http://www.mto.gov.on.ca/english/dandv/vehicle/used.shtml

This plus any boat with less than 10hp outboard does not need to be registered

. You only need to worry about your trailer being registered

  5. Just need to find someone up for it round here.

That's usually an issue for me as well. My day trips are early mornings, no cell reception and very likely I wont see a soul as soon I get off the paved road. Not for everyone I guess. I end up going solo fairly often, much to the girlfriends dismay haha

  6. Been trying to force myself to take more pictures of my backlake escapades. No photographers in my group of buddies so bear with my cellphone pics.

Spent the day on a back lake about 65 kms from town on the Kip river watershed on Monday. We ended up going in baitless which is never a good idea this time of year but we made it work and ended up locating some active fish. I was still sort of expecting fish to be spread out in their summer haunts, but this was definitely not the case as almost every fish we caught (and even marked) were in one exact spot. Not surprisingly, this was the mouth of the main inflow into the lake...33-37 FOW. I should've snapped a picture of the graph because they were stacked up like nothing I've ever seen before. I know we would've boated far more fish with worms or leeches, but we still boated somewhere between 15-20 walleyes using split tail minnows (Gulp and Impulse minnows mostly), and we missed both the dusk and dawn bites so I'm happy anyways.

Not bad for a few hours on a brand new lake!
