  1. My father and grandfather built a summer home on Axe Lake Road, which sat on about 1,000 Acres of property which ran along the East side of Axe Lake Road from near Rte 518, all the way down to the Four Corners, which is near Axe Lake, if you're familiar with where I'm talking about. The house was built in 1957-58, and I spent time there every summer until 1970 when she sold the house and property to my dismay. Axe Lake is a long road, but maybe you were raised in the same place. Do the names, Holderney or Tippelt, sound familiar? I was only 12 when she sold the property, but I have a lot of great memories from the summers spent there. My grandmother was a Tippelt, and knew loads of people in the area, so maybe your parents knew her.

  2. Has anyone every fished Groves lake.? i was out touring on the backroads today looking for fishin spots when i came across this lil lake south of Huntsville. It got a small public access for car topper. Its an unmaintained dead end road iin to the lake but in decent shape. Im not sure if ill make it in there before the snow or seasons end, but next year for sure.
  3. Yup change oils fog the cylinders i also spray the components with fluid film as a rust proof and lube. keeps your engine clean and like new.
  4. First off use ethanol free fuel. And keep the systems full. Shell vpower is ethanol free also most marinas in canada have ethan free fuel . Ethanol is alcohol. Its corrosive. Also most ethanol fuels have a LOT of additives to reduce corrosion and help you engine burn more fuel faster. The additives also reduce the fuels ability to absorb moisture. Since ethanol absorbs moisture its not use in marina fuel systems or boats. For stabilizer i recommend SEAFOAM. Ive been a bike mechanic for 20+ years and got my start in Marine engines. seafoam has been used by the pros for years with the best results. one benefit is its a mineral based product so it prevents rust and corrosion in your carbs and fuel system while helping stabilize the fuel octane during long storage in all climates. as you fuel evaporates the mineral based seafoam prevents the fuel deposits from forming and hardening. Every spring i deal with dozens of machines out of storage tbat were not properly maintained or winterized. After a cleaning and lecture about storing and preserving fuel systems
  5. Our tarps are from trucking companies. Used to cover lumber and other stuff during shipping. we actually have post and beam out building built from these that are 10 years old. With tons of trucking companies around stop in at a few and ask. A pickup truck load cost us $50
  6. White strip leds for car interiors work for lighting up live wells. No need to drill. cut to size, dab of silicone on each end. just stick them on and run the wires out a hole in the top of the livewell. tbe are water proof already. 3leds ( aprox 3" strip ) is all u need
  7. Nice I love cold wwather small mouth fishin. often slowing down is difficult after fishin all summer but i find a slow presentation will trigger just as many big hits. I switch to the livetarget baitball cranks and twister tail amd tube jigs with 1/8 oz for the fall smallmouth. Slow and deliberate presentation with slow small movements..
  8. Ive joined this site in hopes to learn more about other good fishing spots and types and how to fish for them im mostly a bass , perch, pike and walleye guy but often fish brook trout. Ive never been "Muskie fishing" but i have caught a couple. Sadly ive never caught a salmon or rainbow trout. That said, i know of lots of places to catch fish but never had the boat or equipment to get them into these lakes to catch them. i have caught small muskie in moon river , trout lake near sudbury ( owls nest resort )also tiger muskie in Peninsula lake near Huntsville off the tally ho docks. I know of a few great pike lakes most of them again are hard to get to by boat.
  9. Sorry to dig up old threads but i can shed some life on this area. (i was raised on Axe Lake Rd) First off axe lake has outstanding lg mouth bass fishing as well as sunfish, small perch and cat fish. However you can not legally access Axe lake from Axe lake Rd. Its private porperty . You can access Axe lake off Yearly rd. It is wet but solid rd. I drive my lil toyota tercel in there. The problem with axe lake is its a PICKY lake. Ive gone in some days and fishing was outstanding. A day or two later barely a bite. so most people fish 1-2 lures and give up. I usually use a black/blue jig with berkley powerbait trailer , texas rig a berkley jigger craw, or livetarget top water frog. You also cant go wrong using a worm and bobber. I usually fish the far side, the deeper areas and around the rocks. But there are better lakes in the area. Bear Lake has huge smallmouth. Stocked back in the early 90's its got a ton of big fish. I use brown or green tube jigs and fish the rocks and islands and use a wounded spook for top water. Be prepared the lake also has huge pike and nice walleye. Its also got perch and rockbass. The best lake in the area is Horn lake. Not easy to access unless you have a 4x4 and drive in the 4th consession at the se end of the lake. A canoe is best but a small aluminium boat in the bed of a 4x4 will work. Use HEAVY tackle. These bass are massive. Often 5-6 lbs. Ive taken guys into horn lake that have fished bass all thier lives and leave with busted braided line and busted rods. You will limit out in an hour. Its worth the effort to get into it. Last.. Meadow lake. Good fishing. It use to be outstanding but its been overfished by locals that bring out buckets and coolers full with nobregard to size or limits. Its sad really. However there is a few nice ones but the majority is 1lbs bass. Be careful if bringing a boat. There are dozens of places around the lake with hidden rocks. Its Black water so most hit bottom or tear out prop before they see them or fish finders spotvthe depth changes.
