  1. Cabin fever has definitely set in so I'm planning on getting out in the Bay of Quinte for some spring Crappie fishing to hold me over until the walleye opener.

Its been decades since I targeted this species so I was wondering if you would mind sharing some tips relating to the area and time of year.

  2. Mrs got me a Hero 8 Black for xmas.  Way more than I need but man, the picture quality is amazing.  Depends what you want to do with it.  If its for worst and giggles, you don't need the latest and greatest.  I use mine for snowmobiling, battery life sux in the cold but Amazon fixed that...lol.

One thing about the gopros, is the extras seem better than the copycats.  I mean the software, apps for your smartphone, etc.

IMHO, its almost always best to go with the original.

I think we kayakers might have you beat for getting into hidden spots. That tree on the right was actually across the stream, we cut it with a folding saw. The work often pays off though (face is blocked cause it's my buddy's fish and I didn't clear it with him).

Thanks Bill. Appreciate your comments on all my videos and posts, I don't think I welcomed you to the site, so WELCOME!

Yes! welcome Bill.  Looks like we have someone here that might know ALL the honey-holes on LSC.. :)  What's biting now?

  5. Very informative read. Shows the trends and how being vigilant by social distancing and other measures are key to our survival.

I know that our way of life is being threatened but we'll all end up with nothing if we don't hunker down and take one for the team.

Be safe, be smart, be vigilant! This is no joke and this virus does not prejudice!

  6. I use a pair of 500LCs mounted on 8' Hvy TDRs, spooled with 60# braid for Musky.

The nice thing about this setup is that by changing out the rod, the reels work well for long-lining Salmon in the spring and dipsy divers for trout and walleye through the summer when I put them on a 8"6" MH TDR.  Yea maybe the line is a bit overkill in those cases it's still a small diameter line when compared to mono.

  7. I may be taking a contract position at Bruce Nuclear this spring and other than the Salmonoid fishing in Lake Huron I'm wondering about the area just north of South Hampton.  The area along the west side of the Niagara Peninsula has an abundance of structure (Shoals, islands, etc) so I'm thinking this should be a hotspot for Bass, Pike, and maybe even walleye.  Similar to Georgian Bay but on a much smaller scale.

    Any thoughts/experience to share?

    TIA.

I spoke to the people at acme battery last week, I was told that if I wanted to run 3 graphs, fuse box and be able to start the motor without problems on a single battery to up to a group 31.

If you're using an onboard charger don't all the batteries have to be the same kind?

No, only if they are connected together, typically in series for a 24 or 36 volt Trolling Motor.

I’m holding you to that Johnny! Skeeter fxr all black, loaded...please and thank you Hahahaha!

grimsby, literally one of my favourite things is I’ve got a lil largemouth sloppy honey hole that I get my boats <12 inch draft into no problem while the guys in deep v’s are stuck watching me flip and punch

Lottery boat is a Skeeter?? Say it isn't so!  :wallbash:

Mine would be a Ranger 620 w/250HO  evinrude G2...etc etc... Blacked out would be nice but you want the top of your gunnels to be light in colour as they can get super hot in the sun.

It's not the driver either...every boat has t's limits and NO bassboat runs smooth in 4 footers. Erie is probably worse because the rollers launch you when you crest them.

Regardless, bassboats aren't for everyone. They have a unique purpose and for those that want it, nothing fishes better. Trolling isn't one of them. Multi-species boats do a lot of things well but give up performance in some areas to accomplish this. No biggie, pick your poison and spend your money where you see fit.

Thats why I went for a Multi Species boat, while I love the look and performance of a bass boat it doesn't do everything I want, far from it!  I have a removable rear deck on my 620fs and i've never had a guest complain.  And other than top end speed, my FS out performs a bass boat in every way (IMHO).

If I went home after 2-3 hours of fishing I wouldn't bother going.

Fishing is a all day thing.

I think I'd have to do  the catch and release thing.👍😁

I must be feeling my age then..lol.  Started the season in Leamington (5 hr drive round trip), plus launch/load and cleaning 12 fish...  With 2 to 3 hours of pulling in wally's on 8/10 colour leadcore I was done..

Lets face it, this is not fun fishing, pulling in these things is like dragging an old boot.  But they are damn tasty and worth every bit of effort 😄

  12. My nephew from Calgary wants to come this way for his 50th this year some time.  He's never fished for Bass or Muskie.

Depending on when he can make it (Covid not withstanding) I want to take him to longpoint and to the area outside of wood's bay for bass and the Kawartha's for ski's if its that late in the year.  That should bust his noodle.. yes/no???

Is it a bit too early? Has anyone gone out for them yet? I am getting very antsy. It's been 2 years since I had my boat in the water and need to get out on the water ASAP. I was thinking the 1st hunt would be out of Jordan Harbour. Fish Farmer you out there? Fish Farmer come in please.

    Johnny D/Selkirk ON.

Check the posts on spoonpullers (Lake O south shore board).  April fishing in this area is all about water temp (I usually head down there a few times every April).  Browns should be in shallow (12 - 15 FOW) and Kings out a bit further (30 FOW).  This is from April 22nd 2019.
