1/2 price of new, Daiwa ZILLION SV TW 1016SV RH Baitcaster 5.5 gear ratio.  While most bass fishermen like the higher speeds this is just perfect for crank baits and spinner baits. 9.5/10 condition. Includes box and papers if I can find where my wife hid them.

This is a JDM lreel which is my concern and also its a very minor repair.  I'll give Kenny's a shot for this one. Agreed tho, any major repair/servicing would go to Shimano PTBO.

For $300, I'd look at a Lexa 400 as a Musky reel. Certainly more suitable than a Curado if at some point you're going to go giant hunting on G Bay, the Larry or NWO. 

 For sure, the Lexa is a great option as well.  One of my favs is the Revo Winch LP that i've had for almost 10yrs but I'm not sure if its made any longer.  The point is that a good solid mid-line reel is all you need. That and a good seasonal maintenance plan and you're good to go.

For Kawartha skis, you don't need expensive gear. Sure, its always nice but IMHO i'd stick with good solid mid-line gear like the Curado baitcaster, PowerPro braid (whatever is on sale >40lb), and something like a Okuma EVX-C-861H-Tb or something like that. You can cast or troll with that setup.

JDM stratic spinning. Nothing major, the spring for the spool clicker popped out and I'm not dexterous to get it back in. Not a big deal, so I have a reel that doesn't click when the line is pulled out but would still like it fixed.

+1 on the AGM but i've had great luck with flooded as long as you keep the electrolyte levels and charging in check.

Doing the math, the AGM costs over 2x as much so the little bit of extended life doesn't make financial sense. Move up to the group 27 if you have capacity concerns.

If you don't have one, i'd move up to a 2/3 bank charger rather than go to an AGM.  PM me if you req. details.

Any yes, marine batteries are different than automotive.

purchased insurance for my new Ranger back in may and anything bolted to the boat is part of the boat. Personal items are typically covered up to $5k and then your home insurance picks up from there. 

Have a frank discussion with your insurance provider as its easy to rack up north of $5k in contents.

Also, my recommendation is to go with a company that specializes in watercraft insurance as they understand the nuances better than an "auto policy" provider.  They also offer depreciation and inflation protection in the event of a total loss.

Agreed, but they are not mass produced or anything like that.  RAM mounts work well enough but your graph will start to droop on rough water where as the Geigertec will not.

If you go for a RAM, I recommend the mount with the larger ball.  This is what you need:

I've had mostly great interactions with the MNR guys, but one terrible encounter with an OPP in the Massassauga park. He blocked us on a channel and began grilling me on my safety kit.  First thing was flares.. i didn't have any :). I was in a 17' boat on an inland waterway. Therefore, for both reasons, I didn't need flares. He had to go into the the regulation book to check as he obviously didn't know the regs either.  ONce that was satisfied, he went after my flashlight. I have a large Mag light on my boat and he was really concerned that it wasn't waterproof. He recommended that I carry a $3 flashlight w/extra batteries with me. Just a crusty old guy on what I would call a great duty. There was a really young/jr guy with him that just stood there in disbelief. 

Next time I'm going to get their name, badge number, and the name of their sergeant.  Last time I looked, we didn't live in a police state.

Doesn't matter, they'll do it anyways. People are just selfish these days and don't care about conservation. Saw the same out on long point the last couple of weeks. At least I didn't see anyone fishing the sanctuary zone but other than that it was game on!

I follow the Longpoint forum to see where the 'eyes are showing up. Went out yesterday and started in 40 FOW ended up with 2 farm animals (Sheephead) on a harness. Motored out to deeper water (55 +/-) and picked up 4 eyes in a matter of an hour. 1 dink and the others ranged from 3-5lbs. All on a "0" dipsey set to 1, 110 feet back on a blk/copper and silver/blue spoons. Nothing on RRF.

Anyone interested in limits of 'eyes, let me know and I'll be happy to help.

Lake Erie is your best bet for a large 'eye. They migrate east from the detroit river post spawn and make it all the way to Port Glasgow by the end of July.  There is also a east to west migration coming out of the Niagara, big fish start showing up out from Nanticoke around mid July as well.

Remember, all the big ones are Female.

With the right setup, limits of 6 per angler are possible with 2-3 hours if you know what your doing. Most will run around 22".  My biggest to date was 9.5 lbs. Should have put it back, they're not great table fare at that size.

not one photo of a walleye was over 6 pounds   I know if someone had a 10lb + fish there would be a photo in the album

Quinte is devoid of big fish by the time of the opener. Resident fish are all on the small side and the numbers aren't anywhere near the days of old.

Its an inline fuse. Replace it with a circuit breaker. Guidelines below:
