  1. I just read though all of the posts and started to laugh at some of the comments  ....

My 20' pontoon with a 40HP planes out just fine with the use of tilt and trim......I can get as close to shore as any tinny can....

For anyone that knows the Ottawa River, we can easliy get 4 -5' waves in no time depending on the wind direction and it doesn't bother us in the least when we're out on the pontoon fishing, compared to the other tinny's being rocked around like rag dolls while trolling....

    :lol::lol::lol:

  2. Camillj...I've had my pontoon boat since 1994 and it's still in great shape other than wear and tear on the upholstery now...it's extremely stable and I don't have to constantly worry about wind and waves ;)

I only have a 40HP and that's plenty for us....the boat is 20' and we'll get around 17mph but usually, my wife and I just putt around and enjoy...

pm me if you have any questions...

  3. When you order from Cabela's what charges do you end up paying?

    I see $22.95 + 3.50 broker's fee.

Then I think there's a Canada Post handling charge ($5) plus Canadian GST. Is that it, or is there anything else?

That sounds about right....I can't tell you for certain because I had it shipped to my daughter''s house in Georgia (free shipping within the U.S. :D )....a quick call to Cabela's should give you the answer...

  4. I too just upgraded my sonar from a Humminbird 565 to the new Lowrance HDS-5...I can't tell you how it works yet because it's back ordered for another 3 weeks  ....but I'm pretty excited about trying it out!!!

If all you need is a sonar, check out Cabela's!!....they have some SUPER deals right now such as the Lowrance X510c for ONLY $329 U.S......that's a steal!!

    Good luck...

Thanks Jacques....give me a shout if you want to come out one weekend!!....but you'll have to swear that you won't tell your neighbour ANYTHING!!! ;)

Great work on and off the water; hope the wife volunteered to cut the grass! :)

Thanks backbay....the wife actually did attempt to cut the grass, but it's so fresh it kept sticking to the bottom of the mower and clogged it up..

Hey Steve nice ski, really pretty, looks like the bay is active. When we were out there lst month there wasnt much to get excited about and I usually stay away from it when the water gets warm. Of course if I went ski fishing I would head there. I just had my second surgery in 3 months last Friday so I am itching to get out soon. How did the trip go? Hope the truck held up.

Thanks Don...the trip wasn't as good as it could have been...the guy I went with had different "visions" of a fishing trip-----> EAT----> DRINK TILL YOU CAN'T TALK OR WALK----->SLEEP :angry: I ended meeting a good gang in another cabin and caught quite a few Lakers with them...

The truck is fixed and is working great!!

I wasn't in the Bay Don....I found a nice spot a few km's downriver on the Quebec side...you need a GPS as the depths are pretty treacherous for lower units...

  6. Well, it's been one heck of a busy 3 weeks around here between trying to please the Mrs. with a new lawn, perennial garden, a 5 day fishing trip to Temagami, Hydro coming on the property to cut a couple of trees down, clearing the mess that Hydro left, cuttin' and splittin' wood and finally getting the boat cleaned and ready for the river... :stretcher:

Here's some of the work that was done around here.... :canadian:

The start of the new lawn June14th....

10 minutes later, my baitclicker starts singin' a familiar song :Gonefishing: ......this 47.5" beautiful clean gal cleared water 3 times before coming to the side of the boat.....1st Muskie of hopefully many this season :thumbsup_anim: .....

  7. My daughter and son-in-law surprised the heck out of me the other day by buying me a Lowrance HDS-5 fishfiner/GPS combo for a combined Father's Day/B'day present :o

Now, I'm wondering what type of Navionics card should I buy????......I mainly fish the Ottawa R, Big Rideau Lakes, Temagami, Nippissing and Quinte.....is there a card that covers these waterways???

    Thanks......

  8. That's great Steve!!!

... now you can Go and STOP!!!

Glen....I won't be goin' anywhere if don't get the front lawn finished today and seeded :w00t: ...I decided to do the same darn thing you did and now I wish I never even mentioned it to the wife!!! :whistling: ....I better get off this computer and get to work!!....the clocks tickin' away and I hear the fish calling me!!!

  9. What a great report Doug :thumbsup_anim: ...I truely enjoyed reading and sharing the trip you guys went on!!....beauty colored specks and awesome scenery :canadian:

I'm gonna have to give that a try sometime!

    Glen,

I've been thinking of doing a week long fly-in trip next year. The lake has natural Rainbows, Specks and Lakers...I went up to the lake a few years ago and the trout are abundant and big and the remote setting is awesome!!....I'm always looking for a gang to get out with so if yur interested, keep this in mind and send me a pm bubba!! :canadian::Gonefishing:

  10. Looks like you and your daughter had a nice time together Glen :thumbsup_anim: ....My daughter is married now and has her own daughter....to this day, she always talks about the fishing trips with Dad and when ever she comes home from Georgia for a visit, the first thing she wants to do is get out on the river and fish...

  11. Well, I picked the truck up from the shop Wednesday evening and have put 200km on it so far without experiencing the massive vibration problem I previously had prior to taking it in :thumbsup_anim: ...

All 4 rotors were replaced, new pads front and rear, calipers were free'd-up/serviced and the 2 rear axle seals were replaced...

The real test will start early tomorrow morning when I leave for my week long fishing trip at Temagami...it's kind of hard believing that the vibration I experienced was caused by the brake issues, but hey, at least I now have new brakes and tires...

    Steve
