  1. Well... while I didn't get a chance to spend as much time on the ice as I wanted to this season, I made a point to get out Friday after work and Saturday for a couple of hours here on the river before packing the gear away for good... :Gonefishing:

The ice is deteriorating very quickly and the main channel is wide open now from the Chats Falls dam downward...there's still 21" of ice in the bay, but it's not good ice.. So after looking out the window this morning and listening to the forecasted rain this week, I've decided to put the ice gear away and start getting the Trout gear ready :thumbsup_anim:

Even though I didn't catch many eyes the past couple of days, it was just pure heaven sitting out on the ice, with no one else around, watching and listening to the hundreds and hundreds of geese flying over my head while having a pop or two...

Here's a few pic to share... :canadian:

Nothing like being on the ice after a busy week in the office....

Here's a few pics from a week ago up at a trout lake....the trout weren't to cooperative but it sure was nice to be up in the bush....the shoreline was really breaking up and the creeks were flowing...there was 2" of black and 4" of white ice making it not to comforting :w00t:

  2. Great thread Bernie!....looks like a real nice business you've got there...I'm kinda curious now, are you between North Bay and Temagami on hwy 11?.....I'm heading up to Temagami June 14th for a week and if you're in that area, I'll try to stop and say hello...

    Steve

  3. Nice truck....the only problem I see with your truck is that it's toooooooo clean for a 4x4..ya need to get some mud and a few scratches on her....Have I ever got a nice back woods speckie lake for you to try with your truck ;) .....I'll bring my tow strap :P just in case :o

  4. Just look at the ingredients. They list the ingredients in order or quantity, so there is more of the first ingredient then the second etc. You want to try to stay away from corn or any other corn variations especially as a top ten ingredient. Just think of how our stomachs digest corn, not very good, same as a dog.

I feed my pup Nutro Natural Choice Chicken meal, rice and oatmeal formula. It's about 30-40 bucks for 8kgs up here in North Bay at Pet Valu so it's pricey but my pup likes it. I'm sure you could find it cheaper in the city though. I found that when he was eating the Dog Chow from purina (corn was the top ingredient on this food) he would have the sh!ts really bad and take forever to crap but with this food he is relatively normal.

I use to buy the Nutro Natural Choice Large Breed for my 2 dogs for years until i came across the Kirkland Chicken and Rice dog food at Costco :) ....not only is it saving me money but it's healthier for them....the 1st ingredient is Chicken...then Chicken Meal, Whole Grain Brown Rice, Cracked Pearl Barley, etc.....NO CORN filler!!!!!

    They LOVE it!! :thumbsup_anim:

  5. My wife and I are soooooo sorry to hear about the loss of your loved one Bernie!...we've had to put 3 down over the past 8 years and it's tough so we definately can feel your pain and know what you and your family are going through right now.....

    At least he's not suffering...

    Take care,

    Steve

  6. Thanks Simon.... I'm amazed too. So small and yet, can swallow the fish fry including the treble hook :w00t:

The thing is that I'm not targeting them and somehow catch them anyway.... go figure :wallbash:

When I do target them, I usually rig a small jig head tipped with Gulp fish fry.... real deadly combination :thumbsup_anim:

Talk about the fry.... started to use it this season and I'm a big fan also..... that stuff is potent and really works wonders!!

Thanks Steve.... don't know but will have to be soon.... and when I do, would like to be out all day :thumbsup_anim: I just might take another day off next week and will call you.

Are you coming to 31 Mile lake tomorrow for some whities??

My buddies are having a big derby out here on the river tomorrow....check your PM :whistling: ...

Should be between 120-150 people out...tons of door prizes including 4 Sens tickets and it's only $10 entry fee which also gets you a hotdog, hamburg, salad, chips and a drink for lunch...there'll be cash prizes ...~$400 for each top 3 fish caught.....
