  1. Anyone have any info on this boat? This is the boat I bought to restore and cannot find anything online about it :-( Nelson
  2. More pics of how the crack happened
  3. Well for sure I know the reason now for the crack, the seat vertical supports sit on 90 degree brackets riveted to the bottom well the vertical brackets are sitting right on the bottom of the boat, I think I will remove the uprights and place them inside the 90 degree and re rivet them 1/4" above the bottom of the hull, here is a pic for a little definition
  4. Well a week ago I bought some tal-strip from Ideal Supply yesterday my buddy let me borrow his miny pressure washer and wow removing paint off aluminium and mainly rivets could not be easier, let the strip set till the paint bubbles and power wash it off, even the tar inside on the floor comes off quite easy :-) Just thought it would be a good heads up for anyone working on there boat this winter Cheers, Nelson
  5. I did not even think of the worn harness duh! Yup should have chose it but that's ok I will stick with the spinnerbait :-)
  6. The car I usually drive is a 97 taurus the one exhaust reapir was $250 and my new boat trailer cost me $300 lol, our other is a 97 Santa fe but neither have hitches lol
  7. Just updated my blog it now contains a link to all my pictures I have taken feel free to let me know what you think for repairs and layout, I think I will have to replace a few rivets no matter what, Irishfield has me covered on the patch I needed so I am well on my way
  8. To take with you on a fishing trip what would it be? Hopefully this has not been covered before Mine would be a spinnerbait hoping for pike :-)
  9. Yup amazing guy, cant thank him enough :-) Hopefully I will be able to return the favor and take him out fishing once my boat is completely if only I had money and a shop I would be done in a few days lol
  10. Man I miss living in that area, I used to fish Hogg's Bay, Matchedash, Little lake and quite a few little ponds, I gotta get back up to visit buddies and thank Irishfield in person :-) Great pics I have not bin out in awhile :-(
  11. Thank you very much Irishfield, I would like to extend a huge thank you to Irishfield for helping me out, way more then he had to. Great advice and thanks for the rivets I don't know what to say besides thank you :-) Any pictures I post on updates feel free to comment on them good, bad or ugly lol. Again big thanks to Irishfield Nelson
  12. Here is a few more photo's of what I am working with/on
  13. Well I am going with irishfields suggestion I would like to extend an open welcome to all the suggestions and a great big thanks to irishfield now on to painting questions lol
  14. The one I am refering to states all you need is a propane torch http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewIt...A:IT&ih=018 the auction has ended but he says he has lots more. But the main thing that I here is propane does not heat up enough for a correct bond, wich makes plenty off sense, so I may just go the composit method as I have all the supplies here, I am wondering instead of kevlar would glass cloth work? I have tons :-) One other question any good ideas on removing old tar? I am thinking of laying the stripper on it them using my buddies pressure washer and blowing it off? Nelson
  15. Well it looks like it happened do to the seat bracket being loose and any weight on that seat would be sitting on the hull directly behind the rib, now I am not sure wich way I will be going about repairing it lots of ways come to mind the riveting is awesome the glass is very convenient and I am still wondering about brazing rods like alumaloy there is a guy on ebay selling them very cheap and only 3$ shipping, any thoughts on pro's cons? Nelson
  16. Thank you very much irishfield, I am guessing the rivets should be about 1/2" apart? and should I drill a stopper hole at both ends of the crack? I really do appreciate this, I also thank you once again for such a tremendous offer :-) Nelson
  17. I would love to other then as I said I am off work right now and parental pay is very little I dont have $75 to donate let alone the gas money to get there. I do feel bad that I can not donate the money but that is the case right now, but as it stands I am still interested in anyone who would like to offer the advice. I hope this does not sound rude as it is not suppose to, cash is at a high shortage right now so I am trying to do this with the little free time I have and what ever scraps I can find so me and my family can all go out next year :-) Nelson
  18. I feel like a complete ass saying this but there is no way that I could do that my dad towed the boat home as I have no hitch and I am a stay at home dad at the present my wife is the only working one at the moment, until Jan 2nd then I go back, so my time is very limited. I am so very sorry I hope this does not sound callous as my wife works at the hospital and see's what happends head on as I also lost my grandfather to cancer and a few friends I have that have survived breast cancer plus my mom has had several cancerous cists removed from her nose so you can see the cure and cause meens alot to me, I just cant come up with time time, money or resources to take you up on that but congrats on such an amazing offer. Nelson
  19. Rivet a patch may be the way to go, solder it as best I can seal around it then patch it, would heavy rivets in a rivet gun work or go with the big guys? Here is a pic of the problem
  20. Anyone here have any experience soldering aluminium? I am working on a project boat and I am curious what luck you have had? Nelson
  21. Nope I hit up the chat quite often with no results, maybe we need chat nights with specified topics and hosts :-) Nelson
  22. I was wondering that as well, I do like the casting deck idea but I think I may not use it enough to justify the work, the only thing is my 20hp is a tiller so I would be stuck at the back and not get much use out of the windshield area other then storage underneath Nelson
  23. Yup its welded the keel is riveted, the bench seat supports are welded in and the rear side seat is welded in. the boat was half full of water when I first looked at it lol that what got me curious in this old girl :-). I will have a few questions for you later, my little guy is pretty mad at me sitting here lol Nelson
  24. Cashed version worked awesome :-) Any suggestions on where to find an original picture of my boat? I may be interested in bringing her back to original Nelson
