  1. Before I even cast out my lure, or whatever my offering is the drag is set in accordance with my line strength. Losing fish in the past due to the drag not being set right is how I got into the habit of doing this. An exception would be if your using real heavy line, where you risk ripping the fishes mouth apart. Carp have a fairly soft mouth, so this is possible.

  2. You will more than likely need to mail it in. I broke my compre and did not need a receipt. They will honour it because they offer lifetime warranty on the compre's, no questions asked, as long as the break looks like it was accidental and not intentional. They claim that they can tell by the angle it was broken. Your case is very valid so just tell them the truth. All they asked me to do is attach a note describing how I broke it. I believe their service centre is in peterborough.

  3. I towed my boat for 2 years with my 1992 1.8L 4 cylinder jetta. My boat/trailer were about 1000lbs and with my camping gear I would be holding up traffic goin up some of the hills going up north. It was funny at the time, but very unsafe. Without the gear it was not too bad but the braking was the main concern. I think that with your car you should be ok, as long as the hitch is a class 3. As for having difficulty at the ramp, it should be ok. Try using a low gear. I have pulled my boat out of sand launches with my jetta.

  4. I have to ask.........why in the world are you using 30# test on a light spinning outfit. I pity you when you get a snag and have to break off.

    Agreed.

I have broken a med-light compre before I broke 10lb PP. Have also caught numerous 10-15lb carp with it as well.

  5. My boat is a tiller, and gets up on plane almost instantly after I gun it. I dont put a price on fishing, the way I see it is, I don't get to fish everyday so I'm going to enjoy myself as much as I can while im out on the water. A 50hp should not be too bad on gas anyways, ask the guys with the 250+ hp motors what their opinion is on gas consumption...lol.

  6. There is also princecraft, sylvan, g3, polar craft, stanley, legend and im sure there is others. Not sure if they all sell jon boats though. I would recommend a lund or princecraft. Good luck with your search, kijiji is a good place to start, and you can also look at trader.ca, as well as forums all over the internet.

  7. If your budget is around 100-110ish, I recommend the 6'6 Med-light shimano compre. It may sound like alot of money, but lifetime warranty comes with it. I broke an old model compre on a snag and they sent me the newest model compre no questions asked. Very good rod too! I'm sure others will agree. If you do go this route though, my strong recommendation is to buy it from a store that has a shimano rep come by every so often. I say this because incase you break it, you dont need to pay the shipping (which costs up to 40$) as the rep will just come by the store and take it. I know of a place that will give you one from their rod rack as long as you show a receipt. If your close to Hamilton let me know and I can tell you of a store that does this. Shoot me a PM.

  8. I bought a pflueger reel last summer, and i'm noticing that when i pull line out the drag does not make the usual noise it used to (it is silenced, and does not make a noise at all). Adjusting the drag still works fine, but I would like to hear it especially when I catch a fish, so I can adjust it if need be. Any suggestions?
