  1. Merry Christmas Cliff,

I am sure you will get lots of volunteers. If I was only 10 hours closer you would not be able to get me out of your back pocket. If it helps I adopted a 65 year old first mate 2 years ago for the big boat he has earned his own set of keys best move I ever made.

  2. A well maintained I/O is a very reliable set up and will serve you for a good long time. The bellows are something that you need to watch for cracks and tears. The I/O was designed as a space saving measure to get the weight back closer to the rear for better balance. The manufactures of almost all of the big boats now have the options of some of the largest O/B motors with multiple engines configuration in history at their disposal. They are using the O/B because the initial set up cost is less and it greatly simplifies the design. The big plus of the I/O is it frees up the transom for fishing off of and a swimming platform makes a dandy way to Catch and Release your fish. Either way it is best to have a mechanic take a good look at the running gear before buying. The anti fowling paint has a few benefits most don't think about. The paint keeps algae from growing and that increases your MPG you will also slow down the absorption of water thru nicks in the glass.

  3. there is no such thing as boxing day in the states.. only in canada i dont even thing the 26 is a holiday down there i know i leave for virginia on the 25 for some hunting and some stripper fishing ..

While it is not called Boxing Day the day after Christmas is the day the stores put all of the Christmas decorations and over bought items on Mega sale to reduce inventory they carry over to the new year. Electronics and Christmas items are usually the sought after items.

Good luck on your trip down here if you are fishing for Stripers they are still around the Oceanside but stragglers are in the Chesapeake but scattered.

  4. Thanks to all I am very happy to be able to help out around here. I feel a great debt to this wonderful website it contains some of my best friends and mentors and it just seems natural to want to give back to all of you. I don't foresee any changes around here. The red button has lots of fail safes built into it and as soon as Roy gets over the fact I accidently  deleted his account we will be fine. Just a reminder If anyone has a question or an issue with something I have done or any of the Mods feel free to P.M. the Mod who took the action.

  5. I like to tinker with older engines that use carburetors and while talking to the guru's of vintage motorcycles they found a great way to use Seafoam. They take the carburetors off and break it down then place it into a ultrasonic cleaner filled with Seafoam. After some jiggling the parts are blown out and passages cleared with picks then reassemble, adjust and you are good to go. I follow up all of my rebuilds with a tank of Seafoam/fuel mix to clean the carbon from the throats and air passages and it is good to go.

As long as Sea Foam is sealed or capped, to keep contamination out, it has an unlimited shelf life because Sea Foam is a pure petroleum blend with no chemical additives.

  7. So I can buy 4 quarts for $31.96 or a gallon for $49.99? Something wrong with the math... :whistling:

My bad it's 16 oz or 1/2 quart or per pint. for $7.99. Yall were smart you went metric at least it makes sense based on the 100 VS the 16.

  8. Check around Seafoam is also available in the Gallon container here in the USA it is $7.99 per PINT or 49.99 per Gallon or 8 pints. Something to add to your over the border trips maybe.

Thank you for reply. It has a nice PowerHump cork grip and it would be too brutal to put it in a rod-holder... It feels light and really finesse, trolling may overkill it, I suspect.

Certainly not for jerking, it is too long for it. I would touch water if I try walking-a-dog. Light Texas or Carolina, - may be... Just can't realize what technique it was initially designed for :) My BPS Extreme I use for pitching was designed for Carolina rigs and there is this word on the blank. But it way heavier, - up to 1 1/2 Oz and has a decent backbone.

I actually do not own any rods shorter than 7ft My favorite rod is 7ft 6 inch with a core reel built by Chris and it is a dream for froggin and jerkin. I am using it off of a bass boat with a high deck I guess it is why it doesn't seem to be to long for me. I have one of the BPS with the power hump. For some reason the hump and the thinness of the cork made it a poor fit for my left hand and it was really tip heavy but it has gone to a good home one of my friends son is retiring his spinning reel and stepping up to a baitcaster. Keep searching and trying it in different applications I am sure one of them will stick.

  10. They should open up a Box store that sells only Canadian(and some US). They did that in Germany and it is very successful. I think the trade off is ok. Some Canadians go to the States, and some Americans spend their money in Cananda. But I think Americans get a tax exemption???

Anyways, I remember cross border shopping wayyyyy back before our loonie did a nose dive. The cheapest thing I used to buy in America were my leather jackets. You could save $500+ dollars easy.

When I travel up North The lodges charge GST. We can send in a copy of our receipt and a form and Canada will refund the GST that applies to the lodging the HST is not refundable. I personally do not file for the refund it is a small price to pay for the fun we have up North.

  11. It sounds like the same path I took getting parts for my TICA reel once you found the door in it was easy as pie to get what you wanted. I found their website and then had to send them an Email with my request. They then called me back within 12 hours and the parts were shipped to me in 2 days. The cost of the parts was really reasonable and shipping was actually the cost of shipping. I would guess that with the cost of multi offices they are centrally located which is not bad considering the amount of communications methods we have at hand.
