Water levels were a lot higher today compared to yesterday in the river. Ive been throwing cleos and raps with no luck. Ill keep trying anyway. Still wondering about the jumping fish???? Are they jumping at flies, minnows or just going crazy???

Hey guys, Ive been putting my time in at bronte creek throwing the whole tackle box at these fish with no luck. Wednesday there were no fish at the pier and to my amazement they were in the river in the hundreds above and around the sanctuary. Today I go back to the river with proper gear and the river was bear so back I go to the pier where the water was alive with fish jumping. Now this is my first year salmon fishing and have limited knowledge. My question is are these jumping fish feeding when they jump and if so what are they eating. I'm fishing between 8-12 in the morning, do the fish turn off during that time? If anyone has a boat 175 feet off shore looks like the place to be.

Thanks for the help guys. I have a large size spinning reel that should do the job. Ill head out at sun rise tomorrow I cant stand contact fishing I had an me cut my line many years back when we crossed lines. Now id probably drown the sot.

I'm heading out to the mouth of Bronte this Friday with all the wrong gear and only a little knowledge. I have a 7 foot med heavy action rod I use for pike fishing on 10 lb test. Thinking ill throw some little Cleo's and crank baits from the light house. Any chance of landing a fish on that getup? I would love to take a fish home if I catch anything and was wondering if there is a choice spices/size/gender to take/put back. Sorry for the stupid question but I have always been a lake fisherman and I could never stand being shoulder to shoulder during the run. I'm pretty sure the fish are in that area at the moment but please correct me if I'm wrong.

I was out fishing Lake Baptiste last Monday on calm clear waters and spotted many quarter size jelly fish swimming around?????? I have never heard of a fresh water jelly fish befor. Is this an alien spices? or have they always been there and im too busy watching my spinner?

I have fished both lakes and you will have a blast on baptiste. As for boat rentals give birch cliff lodge a call at 16133323316 they are great people and have the best boats on the lake. Dont forget to bring steel leaders!!!!!

Hello everybody! Its been a few years since i last posted on this board so let me re introduce myself. I am mainly a bass and pike fisherman but love the muskie. My fav lake is Baptiste up near Bancroft. Spinning and top water is my fav way to fish. I have used this site for probably 6 years as a learning tool reading more than posting. Once again im looking for help. Im heading to lake manitouwabing in a few weeks and am in need of a fishing map. If anyone could send me one or knows a good site that would be great. Thanks in advance and if anyone is heading to Baptiste ill be more than happy to set you off in the right direction
