  1. Blair, I picked up a bag of big hot dogs and 24 large hot dog buns from Costco for Saturday's lunch. I'll give you a call when we arrive in North Bay tomorrow afternoon. Hope you can get away for a bit to get in some late afternoon fishing.

Got a couple of new lures for the derby and some "famous" small screwdrivers from Mercman (Paul) that I was asked to bring as well.

    Talk to you tomorrow.

    Tony

We need to figure out food. Doesn't look like we will be able to drive on the lake so a bar-b-que is out of the question. Anyone have a habatchi or portable bar-b-que?

Hey Blair, we are confirmed for the GTG! Please add my son (and fellow OFNer) fishman2202 to your list. He may be young, but he'll most likely kick some butt if he gets on to fish.

Let me know what we can bring for the GTG. (PM sent) Looking forward to seeing all the gang on Saturday.

    Cheers!

  4. As of right now I am NOT driving to my hut do to slush. I am confident the ice is o.k. to support a full sized truck between the launch and my hut but the slush is realy hard on the vehicles. Freezes your brakes right up and makes driving home no fun. With such a short walk I will continue to use my sled or feet until the slush freezes....if it ever does.

Hey Blair, with all the minus temps predicted for the next two weeks, the ice should be good and thick for the GTG :thumbsup_anim:

  5. Found on another site...

VHS (viral hemorrhagic septicemia) has been confirmed in gobies, perch, and bullheads in Lake Simcoe. The Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) responded late this past December by creating a new zone around Simcoe up to Gravenhurst where baitfish movements by commercial sellers will not be allowed in or out as of January 1, 2012.

Does this mean that the minnows cannot be harvested and moved out of the area or that they cannot be harvested at all?

  6. the spring steel scratchers work very well but you bugger them up if you go in reverse

I have these too I mount them on my skis when conditions are real bad and you can go in revers with these ones

Hey Terry, any idea where we can get them here in Canada? How about yours Dave, are they avaiable in Canada. I like the idea that you can leave either style out when reversing. Either style may work well on my air cooled Polaris.

    Thanks.

  7. Bruce, I don't know what to say.............I cant begin to imagine what you and your family must be going through. It must be devastating to have to make a decision like that, even though it was best for Peanut. I am tearing up writing this and reaching over shortly to hug my two guys.

  8. Thanks guys, it'll definetely be a cash deal for me.

I know people use it to purchase items from stores but I'm old fashioned and like the feel of the $$$$ in my mitt before I hand over the merchandise.

That is a wise decision Lew. Though I use Paypal to purchase goods over the net, I would never accept it as payment for goods sold. Here is the link right from Kijiji that gives you a few examples of the scams using Paypal out there:

    Any look familiar?
