  1. Wayne, you're nice to think of me. One fund, Vanguard Energy, made me enough today to buy 173 gallons of gasoline. Enough to make my round trip from Cookeville, TN to Red Lake with another 1200 miles left.

Crude is easy and inexpensive to harvest from those huge sandpiles controlled by bad guys. It's much more expensive to get to in Canada and the United States. No way we can get back to low prices by drilling in North America, but I'd love to see our money staying on the continent.

  2. Let's do a little beer talk while waiting for ice to break up. I'm wondering how many guys and gals make their own beer up yonder. I made my own when I was drinking harder, even though it could be bought for around $10 a case at the time.

In the U.S. we are allowed to make 80 gallons a year per household. What's the deal with you guys?

I still have two fermentation tanks, several cases of bottles and lots of other equipment. I might do a little cooking one of these nights. Two cases would last me about 2 months, unless I had one of my favorite Canadians as a guest. One of my board member friends could handle a week's supply before breakfast. And I haven't even met T.J.

  3. Good move Roy. Your plan sure beats whining about prices.

September 29, 2005 while driving through Minnesota heading for Red Lake I bought a little over the minimum purchase of Vanguard Energy Funds and it's returned enough for my family to buy fuel (at today's price) for seven years of driving. No law states I can't invest more.

................................or I could buy Ford, General Motors or Chrysler. Duh....

  4. Ben, you'll somehow make it to AK and fishing will be good. Your friends should be pleased that you're taking them in for such a great week of fishing and daily change in conditions. Changes for the better unless a cold front comes through and another cold front comes through. Then you're screwed.

The lake I'm going to on May 16 is shallow and will be among the first to break up. As a last resort you could join us. We have an extra bedroom that will sleep four. Three of our guys know how to fish. I'm the fourth.

  5. Hey Kinbud, don't fret, just go fishing. I'm flying in May 16 for a couple of weeks or so. You'll catch fish. Big pike and you'll eat walleyes. Your walleyes might be small males during your first two or three days, but there will be plenty of them.

Check your P.M. for information about a current blog on Red Lake ice conditions.

    Good luck on your trip.

  6. Esox Angler Spring issue got to my mail box April 2 and as usual, is an excellent read.

    BUT..........

    no andrew

    no sandy

    no jp

My OFC brothers and sister were shut out the past two issues except for Bunk's article in the Winter issue. Their contributions have made EA better. Hopefully this is not a trend that will be continued.

  7. If I had a cow I'd put a cork in her butt for the hour so she'll help save our planet by not passing gas during those 60 minutes.

Deano, you're picking on my neighbor, again. Prince Albert needs to harvest all the carbon credit dollars possible before people realize we're experiencing a pretty cool year right now that might develop into a cool cycle that will, of course, be followed by another global warming cycle in a few years.

  8. I'll just be finishing up a trip to Great American Ballpark in an attempt to see all 4 or 5 starting pitchers, depending upon how many Dusty uses during the first homestand. An early April like we had last year might keep me at home though.
