my 'stache theory holds some weight...

  2. thanks for the encouragement guys, i dont give up easily

wow.. how could i forget about the beat boys.. "yo dawg.. what the hell kinda fish is that yo?", "yo i aint touchin that thing yo"

and on that cleo?!? that was a slap in the face..

i'll definately drop ya a line when i get back

  3. We decided to hit the islands early on Sat. morning. Met up with TbayBoy and after quick intro we caught the ferry across..

all and all not a bad day for my buddy Brian (2 pike and a bowfin [on an xrap] ) and TbayBoy (3 pike).. but it wasnt meant to happen for me.. at least this time i didnt lose anything.. still it was good to get out and meet someone else from the board..

something was buggering up my camera so i couldnt take as many pics as i wanted to..

when i got home, i started a little 'soul searching'.. trying to sort out where all my bad luck had come from.. i came to the conclusion that this run of bad luck began shortly after trying to grow a rediculous mustache.. i had been scaring my fiancee telling her that i was keeping it for the wedding (by august it would have looked considerably more rediculous).. needless to say.. off with the stache.. coincidentally after shaving said mustache, i played one of my better rugby games on sunday.. so far my bad luck mustache theory is holding weight... the theory will be put to the test this weekend up in Bancroft, with hopefully a bunch of pictures of fish i've caught!

if anyone gets a chance to fish with TbayBoy go for it.. great guy..

heres the pics that turned out (sean, feel free to add your pics to the post):

  4. Got out Sunday with a buddy from work for some pike action.. Had a bit of a delay trying to find a route down there due to the race that was going on but finally made it..

My buddy's never caught a pike before, and I've never caught anything besides one OOS bass there last year.. So my expectations weren't high..

We started working our way around the canals, buddy gets ahead of me and as i come around the corner he's got a little one on.. got it to shore before his xrap popped out.. Damn!.. a few minutes later he's got another one on that spit the lure out.. so now he's lost two, and i havent had as much as a follow yet.. we kept walking and casting, finally he gets another one on.. i got down to the water to land it for him..

worked our way to the opposite side of the channel and he hooks into this guy

and his last fish of the day:

I ended up getting a whack of follows on a #5 Mepps, but no takers :( i only hooked into one smallish pike only after taking the leader off my line.. well you can guess what happend.. the bloody fish snapped me off and took my favourite xrap.. then had the nerve to keep cruising by, not taking a look at the spinner that i tossed out imediately afterwards..

my apologies for the image's he wanted the backgrounds semi blocked out..

all and all a good day for him.. the only thing i caught was a mean sunburn.. i guess there's always next weekend..

he caught everything on the xrap, working it painfully slow..

on the plus side i got to break in the Abu 5600 that i picked up this week, and am quite fond of it..

  5. Rock Lake is a private lake located 2 hrs, 15 mins North East of Toronto, and only minutes North of Bon Echo Provincial Park. This spectacular lake is 1 km in length and 50' deep. Rock Lake features gentle rock outcroppings along the shoreline and is surrounded by a majestic forest.

Imagine the family memories that will be created as you and your guest enjoy any on of the numerous activities available such as jet skiing, water skiing, swimming, boating and tubing. The trout fishing is reported to be excellent, (the Ministry of Natural Resources regularly stocks the lake). It goes without saying that the deer hunting is second to none.

    i paraphrased this from: http://www.karltatrading.com/Rock%20Lake.htm

  7. Every year, and I mean every year, it's the same thing.

We get a few nice warm days in March, and everybody ('cept me of course) thinks Winter is over, Spring is here. :w00t:

I predicted (in the midst of +20 C) that we would get at least 2 more snow storms.

Not only was I correct, we are headin' fer a third!

Next year will be the same. ;)

clampet with your track record of influencing the weather, could you please, for the love of god, not predict snow next year?
